Back in the day's these dancer's were located in nearly every Temple & they practiced the 64 kalas (arts/subjects), were highly spiritually advanced too & they called themselves Deva-Dasis very much like the dancer's that roamed in the Temples of Europe back in Roman time's.
The colonialists came along & destroyed the rich highly educated Gurukul education system which were in each Temple & destroyed the Deva-Dasi system too & made fake
propaganda that they were used as prostitutes by the Pandits but truth is they were a threat to their expansionist plan.
