I think that Kurt Thomas in Gymkata fared better, on the whole, for an elite gymnast in a silly movie. I’d say that Thomas showed less acting talent, though. His character was almost himself anyway. Which film is sillier? One is extremely unlikely happenings with no trace of the supernatural, the other… outside of the supernatural it’s just unlikely, but… I don’t know.

Backstory: American Rickshaw was an Italian production. It was directed by Sergio Martino, who is known for directing a LOT of Italian B-movies. The reason why the dialogue is so stilted is because it was probably written in Italian and probably translated poorly to American actors.

I've got to say that this had one of the best pimp hands I've ever seen thrown in a movie! As to the AIDS thing, if you want to see an earlier film that deals with AIDS a lot more sensitively, check out Troma's War.

I actually rented it at a video store, back in the good old VHS days. It's tailor-made for your channel. After the release of Conan the Barbarian the Italians produced quite a few rip-offs like Ator the Fighting Eagle and The Throne of Fire.
