  • The rut is on! November is one of the best times to be in the woods because anything can happen at any time. Bucks are on their feet either looking for or tending to receptive does. This is the time of the year when those local giants start to travel long distances searching for does, making numerous appearances in daylight in the process. The rut gives you opportunities to capitalize as those bucks let their guard down in hopes of finding a mate. In this video we will go over several November whitetail hunting strategies that have helped us over the years when Hunting The Rut!

    I'm finding your videos and explaining methods far easier to understand and relate to than many of your peers. Not naming any channel in particular because I've learned from them as well and I don't want to be negative towards them, but your delivery seems to make more sense to me and I retain your lesson better.
    It must be a Michigan thing. 😁
    Thanks for the great content!

      Must be a Michigan thing!! But I agree, there is a TON of great information out there from a lot of very smart people. We just need to try to take in as much as we can and see what makes sense for our hunting situation and our goals and then apply those.
      Thanks again and good luck this season!

    Great tip about staying off the phone. We’ve all gotten so used to multitasking with our phones that it’s hard not to check email, texts, etc. It’s best just to shut it off. It’s difficult to set up properly and get a good shot off if a big one walks by and surprise you.

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Once he’s on top of you it’s so much harder to move. Best to keep the phone in the pocket and focus on what’s going on in the woods.

      I personally find that scrolling through some memes helps me stay still, and when I hear something move in the woods I seem to be able to pinpoint the location a little quicker. It can leave you frozen if you don’t hear them or notice them come up for sure. Different strokes I guess

    Great video my man! Your production is really solid and great. I like your outlook as well. I’ve seen success on all the different points you hit. The best deer I ever shot was on October 30th at 11:00am 69 degrees 30mph SW winds.. but I’ve seen a lot more consistent action of movement during those cold fronts. Thanks for the video! Keep up the good work!

      Thank you!! I try to only put one video out a week in order to ensure that the quality doesn't suffer and the message doesn't get repetitive. And I'm glad you have had similar experiences! Some of the craziest days in the woods are the ones where you don't think anything is going to happen but it turns into non stop action. Pretty fun :)

    Good video, great advice. I've already missed a chance at a good buck because I was texting back and forth with my hunting partner after he shot a doe one morning. Looked up and 22 yards away standing broadside was a beast. All I could do was watch him walk away.
    Lesson learned. Good thing is I'm not sure he really knew I was there either. 😂

    I am new to deer hunting. This is my second year of hunting here in Michigan. Can you do a video to explain on how to locate a bedding area? I seen a lot of videos that say to hunt bedding areas but I don’t know what areas to look for that might be a bedding area. Thanks for your vids. You make it very easy to understand

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Probably after the season is over I can show a few on our property. Look for thicker / high stem count cover compared to what else is in the area. Here in Michigan the deer head to thick nasty cover to escape us hunters.

    Rattling is definitely a no go here in S/W Michigan for me. However, the snort wheeze has been a deadly call for me on some older bucks. Shot my best bow buck on Halloween last year. He couldn’t take the wheeze.

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the grunt call and the snort wheeze, I should have included the snort wheeze in the video. I am thinking about doing a video on decoys / scents so maybe I can work the snort wheeze into that one. That really pisses them off!

    • @donaldbowling8620
      @donaldbowling8620 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whitetailevolution I haven’t tried decoys that much. It seems here in Michigan from what folks have said, they tend do more harm then good. Thanks to our amazing age structure of deer. 🙄 Definitely the grunt followed by the Snort Wheeze though. 👍🏻

      It's hit or miss for me, mainly miss on the blind calling. Now a contact grunt or tending grunt when I have eyes on the deer, that works really well!

    Thanks guys! Is it worth hunting late to mid mornings? I can only hunt from around 8am-noon most days due to my childrens school schedule, but im starting to see bucks follow does and dont want to only hunt afternoons. Should I try the 8-12 hunts? Thanks for all the help guys!

      Hunt those mornings! The rut is an excellent tune to hunt mornings, mid day and evenings. It only takes one hot doe to walk by your stand to change your whole season 😊

    Hunting Halloween n day after all day sit both days in upstate ny over cut corn feild ..never seen a deer in the feild or hard woods ...in 15 ft not pressured deer my private 78 acres ..deer bn very limited n well managed between myself n two sons ...we hunted funnels n worked. Deer trails off small creek bottom love the great tips but not seeing much here on property very few rubs n scrapes don't know what going on up in upstate ny ...but not seeing much action ...any pointers

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're on the right track. Hunt the funnels and hunt the bedding. As the season progresses the deer will stick closer and closer to that thick cover, so as a hunter you need to do the same. Get as close as you can without pushing them out.

    When is an ideal time to transition from a morning stand to an evening stand?

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to move around 1-2pm (changes after the time change). It depends on what I am seeing but if I can slip down and be settled into the evening stand by 2-3pm I feel like I should start to see that afternoon movement towards the food sources. But 2pm to be in the next stand by 3pm when the sunsets at 6:30 and after the time change 1pm to be in the stand by 2pm when the sun sets at 5:30.

    I have a stand that I shot big buck in the morning and in the evening. Is this a good stand to do all day sit during the rut?

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say without having more information but if you are seeing fairly good movement throughout the day then yes, I would say it's a good All Day stand. However sometimes there are stands that are good early in the morning right off food that go cold for most of the day but heat back up just before dark.. I'd hate for you to sit a stand that is a good early morning / late afternoon all day.. But again it's hard to say without having more info on that particular stand.

    Do you think if i have core 3-5 doe bedding on my property the bucks will start making daylight soon on my lot? I have bucks but they are pretty nocturnal and bed off my property and seem to have a 2-3 day travel period each week

    • @JayN4GO
      @JayN4GO 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have the same issue. Stick with the doe beds

    • @whitetailevolution
      @whitetailevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will soon but it's hard to say exactly when. They need to either think / know that some of your doe are going to go into estrus or they need to struggle to find any where they are currently, prompting them to go search, hopefully ending up on your property that they've previous scouted. Could be early November, Could be around the 8-12th.. kinda depends on the doe population and how hard they need to look.
