I love it when people talk about using their iGadget for 4 or 5 years. I used my Toshiba laptop with Linux for 12 years, almost every day, since I'm a developer. I only changed it because I wanted something lighter in weight.

The struggle is real with junky children’s headphones. Replacing them a few times a year is still cheaper than paying $100 on a pair that might get lost. I get $5 headphones from 5 below now rather than $20 Amazon brands. I have the same issue with buying a $30 jacket for school. The kids lose them too frequently for me to want to invest in a quality brand, and if they don’t lose them, the jacket falls apart so fast.
I bought a certified renewed iPad on Amazon 5 years ago for half the price and it’s still going strong

Has nothing to do with money and more to do with character. Also a lot of times They just don’t care to show off to other poor people. look at the wedding that rich Indian couple just had. Rich people are just like the poor/middle class. There are some who don’t care, and A lot who do care to show off.

For me, audio devices are one of those things that I value highly. I figure if I’m going to listen to someone/something I may as well fully immerse myself in the experience. I bought a pair of headphones for well over $100 and have used them for years - literally cheaper for years used to price paid in comparison to repurchasing inexpensive options that break easily.

My parents were getting cheaper tables for many years…
I gave them my old ipad, it’s now 7yo… And it outlived all the other brands and still works smooth. They love it.
I started giving them my used apple devices - I still have to get some used iPhone for my mom. But I know they will save money in the long run with these devices.
They have big mortgage so it definitely helps if they don’t have to replace devices too often.

It also ensures peace of mind… changing devices is connected to backupoing - or worse losing - data.
It is just like a hammer.. I want it to do its job and feel ne need to replace it as long as it does

    Hi Tae! Love your videos.
I'd like to expand on your "seek value" statement: you can compute cost on a daily basis for things like shoes and the vitamix. When you do that, you get numbers like $0.10-0.30/day even for high end shoes or the Vitamix in daily use. Then you do the delta over the crap that breaks and you realize the cost is actually comparable or even lower. Throw in a little quality of life and you're way over the line on the value equation.
Anything we use daily should get get a daily cost estimate so we can get a feel for the quality of life premium.

I bought one of my kids a computer. I built it from what I thought were good parts. But it blue screens all the time (probably at least once a week, but at it's worst 3-5 times a day). I spent a bunch of hours trying to figure out the hardware that was at fault, but I kept being too stubborn to just pay for a new one. In the end, my kid is still frustrated with her computer and I've probably spent more hours on trying to fix it than I probably make hourly to just buy a new one.
My other kid I bought a pre-built computer that cost more. He's had zero blue screens.
I wish I'd just gotten my daughter a more expensive pre-built from Costco and return it if it tuns out garbage.

The answer to your question about your children’s headset is this - If I were a father or in future do become a father I would observe how my children behaves with his / her toys. Does he or she take good care of it while playing with them and after using them have I raised them to be diligent and mindful to tuck them away safely and in its proper place so that the longevity of the xyz product is increased. If the answer is yes then buying a 100 dollar headphone would be worth it since it would last 5 or more years & if the answer is no then I would continue to teach to be mindful of the value of hard earned money & be appreciative of the luxuries it provides & not to take them for granted. Until they learn I will buy them cheap headphones but once they learn I will buy them the more expensive kind since I always believe in the long run game & rewarding those who never takes wealth of others for granted. This is my take but it’s not applicable to everyone.

Good informative video. However, in the same breath, it is crucial to normalize spending, ESPECIALLY after spending years watching the paint dry (i.e., compounding). Spending should not be considered a taboo, be it your coffee maker or socks or cars or even a hat! Frugality is essential during the years to ensure you are going to hit your FIRE number or your financial objectives. Living below your means to ensure investments are on track is until you cross the finish line. After that you do you, what brings you happiness or peace or even if that means splurging. (Disclaimer - assuming you know your numbers and are not going into poverty with the foolish spending habits)....Know your why and that it is not numbing your deeper issue cos most shopping behaviors show it is boredom or catching up with joneses and is similar to emotional eating habits. Ramit Sethi mentions a lot more in his book and videos.

Thank you for your helpful videos! About your kids' headphones, in Montessori teaching (now, I'm talking about traditional, not what's trending on Instagram), if you're able to afford quality for your children, they will grow up to appreciate it, it is all on how you will teach them these valuable life lessons. They will grow up to be more responsible, conscientious, and appreciative when they're given quality toys with quality parenting and guidance :) They won't be "spoiled." They'll only be spoiled if they were not taught. Maybe there is a middle ground for the headphones, not the cheapest, not premium, but pretty good :) I hope this was helpful! Btw, for what it's worth, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos had Montessori education 🙃 Just helping so I can give back bc your videos have been so helpful and valuable!

Hi, Tae! Huge fan of your channel and I particularly appreciated your anecdotes. You may already have considered this factor, but I worry about what shady entities on the web sometimes do with images of young people. I wanted to suggest that your children's faces might be blurred/edited to protect their privacy.

As investment i want to buy my own building but instead of moving my company, i want to open another in that building. WHO do i contact? Is it a financial advisor? Business coach? There are so many "advisors" for businesses but I'm honestly not sure which one is best suited for my plans
