Honestly Nick is onto something. Even though Sophist has the villain persona, it's more like petty crimes. Nick is the real villain and Sophist is that guy that powers up when going against "true evil"
If this was an anime Sophists would've had 14 flashbacks, 4 instances where his theme song kicked in and had 180'd on a previously established negative character trait and surprised everyone by proving himself.
