My retirement vision started very young as I was being bias/tekkan as a child from my own parents and thus I wanted to retire and do things that I wanted e.g playing with toys, exercise, spend time with my wife and kids etc. I have retired in 2019 and still enjoying life even with the pandemic. This pandemic teaches us a very valuable lesson, which is "life is unpredictable", you could be relaxing in a resort one day and the next day pandemic hits.
Very sound advice Josh and I totally concur with all the points that you brought up. The key consideration is unforseen events eg. major illness, temporary or permanent disability etc. To date, I think most people are still not totally clear of the specifics of the medical insurance they should be be looking at. Maybe a new video on this would be helpful. Thank you.

Early retirement is a different animal. Our peers & relatives will not entertain us. They are still stuck in the race. We are responsible for our own lifestyle & our pool of elderly friends will grow because you are in the same flock ..... only younger. From this point onwards, the psychological challenge supersedes the financial. After 6 months, one will truly know if we are early retirement substance or not. Our SG education system is soulless. It made us good workers. You teach yourselves to enjoy life. I also suggest getting a TESOL cert from SG British Council. You can travel & teach around the world.

There is always a lot of fear on medical expenses. With incomeshield as charge with rider, where i only go to govt public hospital, say staying in ward C. Will i ever need to worry that the medical expenses will hit $20,000 a year. This should exclude transport and living expenses? We can take those considerations like heart attack, diabetes, cancer. My 77-year-old mother suddenly had an emergency surgery last year. Thanks to her CPF, it was fully covered. I'm happy with the services at Ward C of NUH. My mother was not be lonely too. Hi Martin, with your incomesheld rider, your cap is at $3,000 only. Ensure enough is built into your medisave. It is a good defense for cost =)

Done all that. Debt free since 2013. Ready for retirement. But still young, still can milk, so milk 7 more years😁
