Thanks for providing grate detail of your stoves! Hope this small contribution helps towards a second tool - now you just need to work out what tool you need a second one of and where the best place for this tool is! Best gift I could think of before you get an address! I've always thought I'd have a ground source heat pump if I ever managed to fund a plot - they need a lot more space but the ground's temperature varies less than the air's, so they can be a bit more efficient (and quieter) Looking forward to seeing your build progress, and more flying Beatrix!
@@tomwinch9107 Hi Tom, I'm so grateful for this, I really am! I will invest it wisely of course 🤠 Ground source was never an option for us due to the trees, once the extensive replanting has begun... Air source was the best option for us though I am nervous about the noise levels, given the peaceful environment. Will try to get more Beatrix into the films... Thanks!
Great video. You've obviously done your homework. Couldn't agree more with regards to doing as much work yourselves. That's the whole point. Green heart, that is really, really hard wood. I remember using it as an apprentice. Good luck 👍
Hi, unfortunately not although we did originally want it. But our quotes were not really feasible for our budget. I do occasionally watch the Restoration Couple too... Their new house is pretty large! Are they using sheeps wool throughout?
Fully understand the delay, my wife and I have been struck down with that lousy virus and are both left with that horrible cough. I’m coughing in unison with you
Great update Alex and Gillian, thank you. Couldn’t agree with you more on the topic of starting this journey earlier in life. Apologies if this info has been provided before, whats your anticipated internal sqm space. Bearing in mind that you commented that the budget for the build is c550k. Wonderful to hear your planning processes/timeline. Clearly you’ve listened and learnt skills along your previous employment. Tough to hear of your Architect conversations. Glad that you found people that embraced your values and ideas. The both of you have a truly exceptional outlook on life 👏👌. Really looking forward to your packaged water treatment plant video. I’ve studied numerous options for black waste treatment. You mention utility bills, and being independent. We totally agree here👌. We’ll be looking at ground screws, instead of traditional concrete foundations. Excited to hear more on this. Finally, clearly you’re a great team with plenty of dry humour banter. Well done 👏👍 (and hopefully you feel better soon Alex). Best Wishes Paul & Vanessa
Thank you for the comment Paul and Vanessa! The house is 206sqm, the build quality will be good though we are not the type to spend 40k+ for a kitchen! That being said we will have a lovely kitchen btw, something unusual and unique... Back up to site tomorrow for a week, but just me and the dog as it's just too cold for Gillian 🤠
Happy New Year to you three and I really wish you all the success for your project and hope your plans and timings will work out for you. Thank you for answering so many questions and for filling in your journey so far. I'm so excited to watch your progress and I hope you deal with the ups and downs in your positive manner. Have my fingers crossed for you all and wish you well. PS Beatrix looked adorable as a pup :) (she still does too BUT...) 😂
Really interesting stuff, now I understand why Grand Designs rejected you ! You are so organised and realistic, they probably thought there wouldn’t be enough drama with you. And of course they like an added pressure of an unexpected pregnancy 😂😅 Looking forward to the build as I am sure you are. All the best and of course HNY 🎉
@@johnrimmer1228 Cheers, Definitely no pregnancy happening on this project! We try to be organised but I'll be honest it's tough at the moment as we are trying to sell our house too. We'll keep pushing as ever 🤠
@@johnpriest5380 Hi, it is something we have looked at. There is water available on our site and we know the geography is suited to it. There is one installed a few miles away, at similar topographic levels. Quite an expensive route for us given the various filters and regular maintenance required... Mains water is available to us though it's not been easy to set-up!

Will you be going for a sustainable insulation material? Ordering also whether you have followed ‘the Restoration Couple” ?
