I hopped on the Hi-Point train about 3-4 years ago. Had the 4595TS and loved it. Had to sell it when I needed some cash, but it was a great gun. Built like a tank. Sat right next to my AR in the safe. Gun snobs are the only ones who talk shit about Hi-Point. Best warranty and price in the business. Nice video!

I wouldn't trade or sell my hi-point carbine for anything, I would sell every other gun I have but my two Hi-point's are a no sell, because of the reliability and warranty on them and I have the 995TS carbine and a 45 pistol, the only way I would get rid of the 45 hi-point pistol is to trade it for a Hi-point C9 pistol and a friend of mine made me rethink on rifle to get if I was going into an area with bears and that is a 44 mag. rifle.

I have the Hi-Point .45 JHP Pistol and the 4595 Carbine. The purpose of these two models were for camping and out in the woods hikes... Just everyday plinking too. I have not had an issue with either gun and found them to be pretty accurate. They are heavy and inexpensive, but most important, they function well and are reliable. I do have some higher end pistols and revolvers in my safe but for the money, these are good weapons. People have a tough time making ends meet these days. Hi-Point has filled the need for those wanting a semi automatic pistol in a variety of calibers at a very low price. The guns are simple and offer great personal protection. For less than $200 for the pistol and around $325 for the carbine, you have reliable protection if the need arises.

I've never heard anyone say they aren't reliable but I've heard lots of people complain about how they look and how big and chunky the slide is. I know that's part of the blowback design (heavy slide to delay blowback as there's no locking breech) but as a bonus to being simple blowback is the fixed barrel actually makes them accurate. My pistol instructor at my local range has the 45ACP version of the pistol and that carbine and he said they're both reliable.

When you can call a company and tell them you screwed up and you need a new part and they send it to you free of charge, you got a winner. I’ve seen people buy used Hi-Points, and basically exchange them for new ones because a crucial piece was missing or damaged

FYI, it's not cheap pot metal. It is a alloy mixture called Zamak that has been ever improving since the 1930's. Does not rust, does not fracture and is almost as solid as steel.
Zamak (formerly trademarked as ZAMAK[1]and also known as Zamac) is a family ofalloys with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminium, magnesium, andcopper.
Zamak alloys are part of the zinc aluminium alloy family; they are distinguished from the other ZA alloys because of their constant 4% aluminium composition.[2]
The name zamak is an acronym of theGerman names for the metals of which the alloys are composed: Zink (zinc), Aluminium,Magnesium and Kupfer (copper).[2] The New Jersey Zinc Company developed zamak alloys in 1929. While zinc alloys are popularly referred to as pot metal or white metal, zamak is held to higher industrial standards.
So don't listen to "chode boy", who calls their slide "pot metal".

I have a question is the trigger pull on your 45 hi-point carbine a little hard to pull, because the reason I'm asking is a friend has a 40 Cal hi-point carbine and the trigger on it is really stiff to pull, but on my 995 it's a smooth easy pull and it's even better than my Taurus G2C. Just trying to find some feedback from other hi-point carbine owners.

The Hi-Points are pretty good for the price, They usually need some break in and after that they will run well, Usually the weakness of the Hi-Point is the magazine.
They are a great company to deal with and they have absolutely THE best warranty of any manufacturer of firearms hands down, They will fix your firearm free and send it back with an extra magazine for your troubles, If you need a part they will send it out to you often for free, I broke the rear sight on mine and I needed parts and they promptly sent me one! The only thing I don't like about my 995 9mm carbine is the cheek slap when I fire it.

Thanks for checking the Hi-Points out. Current and former owners get a lot of flack for having them. I owned a C-9 for my FIRST gun. Purchased several years ago when self-defense first starting really mattering to me enough to motivate me to do something about it. It serves that niche very well. The cheap gun to start learning basics, or to have as the handgun you can loan out to a friend in desperate need of something for one reason or another... that sort of stuff. It's sometimes really good to have something cheap but still functional. Not sure if someone else said this already, but the extended mags tend to not work really well in the C9s... probably the spring tension in the mag... I never did get my hands one of them when I had mine, I only ran the 8 rd. The only functioning issue mine presented in about 5-600 rounds (after fixing the mag feed lips) was the trigger not fully resetting. It happened 3 times, and a tap-rack got it going again with no issues.

7 years late? Hi point 995ts is still king! BUT! the 3895ts is a game changer for the 380 ACP cartridge. " No other rifle is chambered in 380, the velocity of the 380 ACP coming out of the muzzle is almost equal to a 9 mm pistol. That's making the 380 a serious contender now. What do you think? Someone should try this.

One point you may want to consider is that a lot of the grief regarding Hi-Point pistols and "unreliability" is the result of bad technique. They're blowback-operated guns and those who limp-wrist to compensate for recoil will have issues.

With an aggressive thumbs forward grip I found the C9 to pull at my thumbs to much. On top of that with the heavy weight of the slide it has a odd "after" kick. Almost like the gun is kicking twice and then when the slide move back forward it makes the barrel nose down. It is a lot of movement to compensate for. Other than that the gun ran well.

I have around 12K rounds through a JHP45, still runs great. The weakest link with High Points are the magazines, and ours (its my wife's gun) have started to crack, and we need to get replacements. The fact that about half the rounds we put through the gun were super hot handloads, may have something to do with that.

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour 10 ปีที่แล้ว

You can re-purpose USGI single stack 45 mags. They're fairly cheap and you need only a dremel to cut the new mag catch. I bought several for my JHP45. Added a 2nd recoil spring from a dual capture system so I could run 45 Supers almost on par with 460 Rowland's. Made the cases from cut down 243/308 cases. I figured cheap gun if I blow it up oh well. =)

Yeah it’s crazy I love reading the comment section and I call out these people and hope to open peoples eyes and hope that they can realize what jerks they are being . Even if I get through to one person out of a hundred that is enough. But my main reason for reading the comment section is to learn . I love to hear the experiences of people that actually own these firearms , gear , whatever so I can use that knowledge to help make a good decision when purchasing something. Also just for the knowledge itself . Thx for calling these people out I agree . Check out my reply to the guys comment above you who was so upset that he threw the firearm on the ground he refused to even listen or give his information a chance . This guy went out of his way to share his experience for others to see and help them , he’s not trying to be a movie star he has it in him to teach and share what he learned and I thank anyone who does this even if my opinion or experience is different. I know it’s been awhile but finally giving in and thinking of getting my second pcc have a Kel-Tec sub 2000 gen. 2 in 9mm . I’ve always wanted to try one of these hi -points I hear so many good things and I like the Idea of getting one in .45 I’m thinking little lower weight like 200 gn bullets and getting a high velocity out of this round probably something +p maybe even lower than 200gr. I’m not that familiar with .45 Acp ammo I am a 9x19 guy and I e done tons of research on this round . So want to try and learn more about.45 only in a carbine having the 17 1/2 “ barrel I want to see if I can get this hunk of lead moving I’d like to be between 12 and 1400 FPS without going below 180gr I think that would make this a real effective tool for many different situations. If proven reliable might be my new hd tool instead of the 12 gauge or 9mm compact size handgun . Also hunting I think at that average velocity you could easily reach out to 150yds with some accuracy and effectiveness and I find that awesome out of a pistol rd and I think about 32” firearm that you can maneuver easily from target to target or navigate through the house easily keeping a combat ready position in case of a break in . I don’t have a lot of money to spend I’m not poor but I do need to save a little if I want something for myself I have a budget responsibilities and such so this Hi-point is something I could manage to get and reliability is my number one concern. I won’t buy a unreliable firearm just cuz that’s all I can afford it’s too important of a tool . Anyway excited about trying this carbine out in .45 . Good luck to you

I think their is a variable that is missing when Hi-Point reliability is evaluated. It the abuse that they are subjected too due their looks and price point. Example, I really doubt that this gentleman would of thrown a $1000 rifle to the ground. Hence the the $1000 dollar rifle is more reliable because he actually takes care of it.

I have a hi-point 45 pistol and I've put hundreds of rounds through it and it was used when I bought it and not a single hiccup so far, as for the hi-point carbine I have the 995TS and the trigger on mine is very smooth shooting and I have shot near a hundred rounds through it so far and haven't had a single hiccup with it yet and the same day I was out shooting with a friend he had the 40 S&W Hi-point carbine and the trigger on it was hard to squeeze to fire it and I was wondering if you had a chance to shoot a 40 Cal. hi-point carbine yet and if you do please let me know what you think about it, because my friend shot my 995 and noticed the difference between the trigger pull. As far as I can tell I think Hi-point's are reliable and dependable and I don't know of any other gun manufacturer that has a warranty on there firearms like Hi-point does.

I'd buy a Hi Point carbine and pistol in 45 ACP in a heart beat, they will be in my safe once I get a few purchases out of the way. Plus a company is making 14 round mags for the 45 Carbine.

Law abiding poor people deserve to be able to defend themselves and their families. Hi-Points are ugly and heavy and there are better gun available if you can afford them. Having said that, they are excellent guns for the money especially the carbines.

You just lost point with me on this video because of the way you tossed the carbine to the ground. First, that is just not safe and that gives a bad example to any younger shooters out there and second you should never treat your weapons in that way if it can be helped. You should always respect your weapons. Bad role model.

But it’s ok to drag them from vehicles, drop them in mud etc . like many torture tests you see all the time ?The reality is in combat your weapon may be tossed by your enemy and you would hope that someone could walk up behind the assailant pick up your firearm hope it’s still functional and save your life so I think your comment is a little harsh .Also a bit shocking coming a former law enforcement officer . I would think that you have the ability to have a little bit of an open mind when it comes to checking the durability of a firearm that you depend on to protect you and your family. I thank him so I don’t have to do this to my Hi-point 4595TS because I am really picky about the appearance of my firearms even if they are relatively low in cost. But if Shtf I wouldn’t hesitate to do what I had to do to survive and not give appearance a thought just functionality. I think you owe it to this guy to give his review a chance and doubt you have it in you to apologize depending on why you became a Leo in the first place and how performed on duty and how you treated your citizens you vowed to protect. If you conducted yourself well you should be proud and I thank you for your service . Good officers are needed all over this country unfortunately many people can’t handle being in a position power over another man and abuses that power and treats other people not in that position wrong . I believe you were a good officer and better than the comment you made . Innocent until proven guilty right . So many times people are treated guilty until proven innocent and that was not the intention when forming local authorities to protect and serve the citizens of this great country . I apologize if I offended you in any way I just saw your comment and was shocked and it’s my opinion it was to harsh . Thank you again for your duty as an officer of the law I am glad that you are here today to enjoy your retirement you earned it . I hope that wasn’t just a funny profile name and isn’t true if so disregard my entire statements. Lol

i mean it wasn't really a throw, just a small toss and people do occasionally drop their rifles. albeit usually with less ill intent than his was. and it sounded like it hit sidewalk. like Anthony up there also says, people do really stupid torture tests with Hi-Points anyway (most of them are amazed with the things afterwards). but treat them with care and they will take care of you. treat them like trash and they run like trash.

    Great video!
The safety on the C9 leaves allot to be desired, there is a bar they runs under the grip that can be removed in less than a min this bar is the mag safety, removing it allows the trigger to be pulled without a mag in the gun. Unfortunately the slide lock is the Mag so to move the slide forward the mag does have to be removed. The grips on the C9 are a bit slippery too and I have seen allot of people modifying them to add some grip I personally used some textured spray paint on mine to add a bit more grip.
Both my C9 and JHP .40 needed the firing pin assembly replaced from the factory ones with replacement ones for the light strike issue you had it will get progressively worse and I suggest contacting Hi-Point for a free replacement. Both of the times I had to get Items sent to me from Hi-Point I had no issues or arguments they just sent the items and where very quick about it.

I would probably take any gun, but i dont want to take my life as a chance. As a choice to a cheap gun. i always have the best i can afford to save my life ! I carry a norinco 9mm right now. Its small to hide, but its very heavy. I also have a S&W 40. but its so big its hard to hide without a jacket on. I have many rifles, but not going to say what all i have, most are WW 2 times war rifles. They stood the test of time in battle. Cant deny those stats. If they dont work in battle, they change to a different type of gun. And they do as technology improves.

Baught a c9 just as a throw around gun. basickly that and if shtf were to go down a gun for a family memeber to use so far it runs good some hiccups with not feeding rounds tap the bottom of the mag and it sends the round home no problem I find the 10 rounder dont do that so they run good must be a mag issue. Also you can make high cap mags up for the 45 carbine which makes it way better

I bought a C9 and a 995. Both used, together they we under 150 bucks. A coat of Duracoat and they make a great vehicle combo for when I'm out on the farm. Five mags in a pouch, they can live in a lockbox in the truck, and I have a long gun and a pistol with matching mags for coyotes or whatever.
For someone who couldn't afford anything else I think one of the carbines would make a fine home defense tool.

Rock on! I think the largest part of the HiPoint hate is nothing more than snobbery. I have firearms that are more ergonomic, lighter, more accurate. At the end of the day though, when I chamber a round and pull the trigger it goes bang. That is really all that matters.

And the cool thing about the Hi-point 45 carbine is a company has made a barrel magazine for it that holds 28 rounds, and they are working on making barrel magazines for the other hi-point carbines and they using the hi-point carbines magazines to make the barrel magazines.

These are drop guns. Not babies. Not 750$ AR's. Not $1000 FNH's. I appreciate all of those btw. These firearms are like the type of rebound pieces of ass that we have all had to use after bad break ups. If we ever live long enough to experience W.W.3 or A.C.W.2 in this country i'd rather have hidden key location stockpiles of drop guns at a cost of $1000 then to have 1 or 2 firearms that i have to maintain & carry all the time for who knows how long for the duration of the conflict that cost the same $1000.

I traded it in for a Ruger SR9 and have 800 flawless rounds through it. The C9 is a piece of junk for SO MANY reasons. It doesn't do anything good. From being on the forum the C9 is the most UNRELIABLE of the Hi Point pistols. The .45 is the best.
