I always refer metal head's to your playing with COC when they mention how sterile metal drumming can be. Particularly when they talk about the lack of swing in modern metal. Love your playing!
I love your drumming! Had no idea you were involved with COC...that made my day! Looking forward to hearing this new record and I'm gonna look up the music you've already done with COC right now. Be well!
i am so delighted and exhilarated to see you guys jamming in a ro0m. i think you are the best next to late Reed. to me as a lifetime fan nothing is more exciting that yourself behind the kit and firing up all the cylinders. i was too concerned who is gonna be the COC drummer. now i can sit back and relax and anticipate new material with ease of mind. have a great day Stanton. grab yourself a cup of coffee. do some yoga then smash the hell out of that drum kit
Stanton you completely rock this gig! I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard you on record (cd actually at the time ha ha) with the band! You sounded like Bonham on steroids! I don't think rock is normally your first choice of gigs, but man it should be! Way to kick it bro!
This is Epic, Great insight into where the Magic happens. Songs are going to be Epic as usual - COC always deliver in spades. Stanton driving the big COC machine again like a Boss!!!!!
It's nice to see that you have kept true to your words in "Take it to the street" book regarding using anything that you think sounds good in the music you play. It is also reassuring to see the classic LM-400 popping up next to the other snares, as I also own one. 😂
Isn’t it funny that no matter how many snares we have and love we somehow always bring a Ludwig chrome over brass and have that one or two cymbals we must use. Years ago I just had my original rogers bb lug holiday with busted lugs but made sure I brought extra heads wires and sticks ahh the simple life
It seems very unusual for Corrosion of Conformity to work with Stanton Moore...but a great drummer can be great for any kind of music...and Stanton is a great drummer! Looking forward to hearing the result!
@stantonmooremusic Niiiice, not sure if I heard that one or not. And I was surprised about Reed's passing 🕊 Too bad you guys don't have Mike, but it's good Bobby is there to put in work.
Uuuuhhhhh most good " Rockers" have their feet planted in jazz and are easily reaching out.... Danny Carey=amazing jazz drummer that is in a weird fusion band perceived as "Rock"
@larrymarcus3176 he is a world class jazz drummer so it's not shocking he can play anything. My chips are all in on the jazz drummer vs. Speed metal drummer in a competition.
@@ShlomoZOGelstein Metal playing and fusion or jazz or rock are all different worlds and require not just speed but technique articulation and tasteful execution. Great drummers can play all plus Latin, brushes, softly or bombastically. I hear Buddy Rich play a Bonham track after an interviewer told him he couldn’t do it after buddy stated Bonham plays simplistically and it’s easy. He then proved it. At least according to his skill set that is. I’ve taught for years had students who could smoke me playing metal due to their stamina but couldn’t play a jazz or blues or rock rhythm to save their soul. Just like some could learn yo read but barely but could play beautifully or vice versa. I tried to teach a varied complete art of drumming but focused on what their natural capabilities or desires were. I don’t like playing to lots of different types of music but I can play to anything not with as much stamina as younger years but a 10 minute solo is fine no longer a twenty minute unless I just doodle diddle away then I can play for hours. When one can lay down what the music demands and do it to all genres of music then they are a prolific musician doesn’t matter what the music is. That’s what makes guys like Stanton, Weckle, Gadd, and Vinny c great. Neal Peart was a great drummer but not in this tier he could play almost anything well but lacked that final capacity of emotionally and technically nail it. That’s my opinion of course which is based on my own subjectivity. Some drummers just want to be a metronome and that’s fine others want to be fast like lightening and that’s fine but the greats are like all things the whole shebang it’s their natural proclivity part of their being and it’s admirable. Stanton doesn’t play like Cobham, but if he wants to he can or like Jeff Hamilton all infused into his own personality. Can’t wait to hear him play a few years from now to see where he goes
Jazz drummers showing their range is always a treat. Reminds me of when Minnemann joined Necrophagist or Nekrutman joined Sepultura.
