I've been learning skateboarding for 1 year and manuel has always been my biggest challenge. People would give me so many different advices which I appreciate, but still I can't do it properly. And the most frustrating part is most skateboard coaches on the internet would call manuel as one of the easiest trick for beginners. That makes me wonder what's wrong with me a lot of times. This is the first time that I see something so thorough and detailed of a manuel teaching video. And the best part is that it's not for someone who can manuel a little bit but want to do better, it's for the real beginners who's been struggling like me. Thank you for this, truly.
We appreciate you teaching us I broke both my legs when I was 6 getting hit by a car and tried skateboarding 3 years after when youtube was not around. I was too afraid of breaking my legs again. I started to try it again during the pandemic at 30 and i got really good at riding and stopping for long hours. Between work and skating here and there im now really trying tricks and manuals. You are really great in the way you explain all the small details i needed when i was young. Thank You so much Mitchie for being more than just a professional. You are helping everyone reach their goals!
He is, helped me land my first kickflip within 3 days. I had already skated before at around 10 but now I have a solid understanding of the trick because of him. Best tip he gave was to go for the trick like you own it once you can somewhat get the board to do the proper motion. I would’ve wasted like a month+ if he hadn’t said that.
Starting out on skateboard at 35, just learnt how amazing a skater you are and love these educational videos you put out! And especially love it you're showing these in goofy stance! Thank you Mitchie!
You're a phenomenal teacher, Mitchie. Thank you so much for making these videos. I haven't signed up to any of your paid courses and material yet but I absolutely will once the holidays have passed and life is a bit less hectic!
How did you develop your teaching presence, dude? I’d love to pass down my own skills to a younger demographic and your teaching style is like the epitome of calm, competent, caring instruction
I think I’ve always been like that with people, I really like it. But the skateiq team who helps me script and say things the right way is absolutely invaluable
Now they started to click and so much things opened up with winter ‘round the corner 🤦♂️ havent been out skating for days and watching these tuts i improved off my board (maybe with a little carpet boarding ✌️) immensely last time out 🤘 you kick A£& Mitchie
Thanks for making this video. I’m struggling with foot placement. My riding position is different (front foot on the bolts) from my “successful” manual position (behind the front bolts). I am always having to my move my foot back and it feels uncomfortable/unstable at speed. When I watch others, it doesn’t seem to a problem. It’s difficult having to change set up all the time for a manual and if I don’t I can’t lift the front trucks. Any tips? Also keen to know what you think of rolling the front foot technique?
Mitch. New to skateboarding. I come from the sea/snow sports lol. If some one wants to skate in bowls AND would like to do some flat tricks should we have two boards? Being tall and new to the sport I am leaning to a 15" WB but I am observing riders on smaller WB decks. Can one deck do both?
With your snow experience I would probably start with something bigger like that but it will take time to find your perfect skate setup, and it will change as you progress
Dude you are the serious older brother to Kyro's idiot little kid mentality. I actually learn from you. Keep this longform stuff up, please. This is fantastic.
Hey let’s keep it nice stuff only over here. No matter what you agree or disagree with Aaron has done lots for skateboarding TH-cam and we’re happy to pick up and try to put our own stamp on skateboard content 🙂
I can Ollie onto a manual pad but my back truck always hits. Doesn’t matter the height. I’ve Ollie’s up about 1.5 foot manual pad. I make it up about 60-70% of the time but it’s usually pretty rough and I land really on the front of the board. Meaning the board is left completely behind me. Any help or suggestions?
@@SKATEiQ I think it’s an issue with Ollie height. I never make it on cleanly. My back trucks always slam the curb on the way up. They never really seem to clear the curb no matter the height. I’ve made it up pretty big pads or curbs but always get that slight smack of my trucks against the edge of the curb.
Ollies and pushing (if it can be a called a trick/skill of skateboarding) are where it's at. I did only that for the first 7 years of skateboarding. I would rather have a 6 in ollie that I can pop hard and land bolts all wheels same time than a world record manual ability
Manuals are also just so fun to learn. Its like a minigame you can throw into any skate sesh at any moment. Skating home from work? Bam, minigame.
Bam, himself, is a whole minigame.
Is this guy in Austria? Hey don't ban me from commenting on the main thread. Bro
Excellent use of
I love the idea of it being a minigame, so true 👌

That’s so great you picked it back up and you’re putting In some work. Happy to help man!
Dang, the ollie out section is absolute genius. It's my least strongest aspect, this seriously helped out tremendously, muchisimo gracias
I’m happy it’s helping
Yayy mitchie teaching more flatground stuff
Oh yeah. And lots coming
Advanced drill at the end: talk with your hands while holding a manual for as long as you want. Amazing content as always!!
Haha that skill is only good for content creation 😂😂😂

Perfect! Check out our online group. You’d be a perfect fit
Literally I made every mistake you've mentioned. You're my hero of skateboarding.
Hahaha I’m watching
A good manual feels great every time, at any skill level! Go-to warm up trick for sure.
It’s s tier
NO ONE except Mitchie EVER explains HOW to balance manuals.. they just say 'practice to aim for longer and longer manuals!!'
Well, watch this video and practice to aim for longer manual!
Insanely beautiful scenery! Mitchie, i love manuals!
It’s so great here
Is it NZ Wanaka?
@ Yeah

We as loving supporters of your channel cause we all love you (no homo) ❤ should do a trick tier list 😁
I love you too
I will that sounds super fun
This park looks amazing. Your videos are so helpful. How much for a lesson lmao
Email tyler@skateiq.com for coaching inquires
It’s like you noticed I have watched the 2 min manual video all the time
We def saw the view count and went … aight bet
Hey bro I wanted to let you know I love you, you’re an amazing skater and keep up the good work 😁❤️😁
Thank you you too!
Thanks man
🙏🏼
Learning manuals stationary is a much better way to learn them!
You think ?
I feel them different when I look on board and when I look where I go
Can we get a tierlist video too? XD
Seconded! I thought i was getting a 2022-style Gifted Hater tier list video haha
Oh man yes, we definitely should do this
100%
Where’s this park at? Such rad scenery in the background
Nz
Looks like Wānaka maps.app.goo.gl/FKMXQURqZBQJzjBj8
Superb teaching! Though I still have a question about my upper body direction: should it be open or closed, or half closed?
Good question! It honestly depends, but a little open is a good start
Same, but nosemanual please
Oooooo this would be difficult to do welll 😂😂

I would just skate around for a few days with your front foot lower so it stops being a thing and then get back to your manual practice after that
🔥🔥🔥
🙂
Less than a minute in and I'm like damn no way that looks like Wanaka
Great vid⚡️ btw where is this park?

At what heavenly location is this skatepark! It looks incredible 0_o

I’m kind of confused on your problem to be honest. Is it a balance thing or estimating the height of your Ollie?

A lot of people struggle with ollies , so manuals are a great step In between if you’re struggling to get that Ollie feeling crispy
