Us Canadians are envious of your Target prices. They tried to establish themselves up here but didn't have the same affordability which quickly forced them to close their doors. Another good batch of finds, Bob.
very nice stack double b....great target pick-up....and when he plays, ornette can always be found somewhere...peace and great stacks to you always my friend...rocky
Thank you for the tip. After viewing your video, I grabbed my keys and off to Target I went. Grabbed the only copy of "Raise the Roof" they had. What a steal @ $9.00!! I'm a huge fan of Cake. Just ordered a copy from A/S. "Blues Walk"... Nice touch with the classic car. Cheers.
Have to agree with you about Robert plant and alison Krauss album .fantastic follow up from raising sand .sounds amazing on vinyl .always a pleasure thank you👏👏
Saw your video last night and your review on the Plant album available at Target and went today and purchased 2 of them, the only 2 they had left. The price was exactly as you said. I am a subscriber now. Look forward to past and future videos. I just started buying vinyl and restarting my record collection.
i tend to approach "free" jazz with a similar casualness; to me it's more of a sonic "choose your own adventure," than a search for melody, harmony, song structure, etc. if you don't have them already, his two albums (first leading efforts) on Contemporary sound amazing, and feature mostly conventional cookers, but foresee the adventurous paths he'd come to take.
Thanks for your video, great as always. Are you sure it's Kevin Grey that mastered the Cake record? He is not mentioned in the run out or any other places when I look in Discogs.
Hey Bob if your having trouble understanding Ornette it could be your room. If your just sitting in front of the speakers listening that could be the problem. I also had trouble understanding what he is doing until one day. I put one of his records on while I was cleaning the house instead of sitting in front of the speakers. I think because I was not just concentrating on the music that it came to me. Just like that it was like he started talking English instead of another language. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos.
Man, I'd love to know how you got that for $8!! I just came back from there after watching this, and it rang up regular price. I DID however snag a "Sign O'The Times" for $15.99, so I'm pretty stoked about that!
Hi Bob, I always enjoy your videos! This one with Cake's Fashion Nugget prompted me to let you know to check out a band called "Deathray" (assuming you haven't heard of them)? Deathray is comprised of former original Cake members (the guitarist Greg and bassist Victor). Really, really good pop stuff I think you'll appreciate it. No vinyl to speak of unfortunately but definitely still worth seeking out on streaming or CD. It's a shame, they got really screwed as their S/T debut record was released just as the Capricorn label got bought out - no promotion...
I agree with you on CAKE, I loved them the first time I heard them. Saw them live a few years ago and they were amazing. The Target sale is pretty nice. My Target was sold out of Plant / Kraus. Was able to pick up new RHC, new Santana, new Tears for Fears at 1/2 price.
My local 🎯 - shockingly had Starfish by The Church .. I would have to think it was a special order nobody picked up or an employee never purchased. I grabbed it & am loving it.
I’m surprised you didn’t pick up that Mofi Abbey Road in your intro. I just saw the cake record the other day…now I have to go back and pick it up dammit! It’s tough being a vinyl junkie. I have an OG of that Lou Donaldson that I picked up about a month ago…haven’t listened to it yet. I should get on that.
Fantastic pickups Bob! I agree with you that Blues Walk is probably Lou's best work. It is one of my all-time top favorite jazz records for sure. This classic series reissue is a no-brainer. I picked up a Music Matters copy a couple of years ago b/c I figured there's no chance I'll ever see a clean original but these classic ones are a game changer. I'm really happy to see you've got a copy of this album. Whoa finally there's a cake reissue! Thank you! Grabbing a copy. Cheers.
What a great haul, Bob! No Target version up here in Canada, but Raise the Roof is fantastic even without the bonus tracks. I'll have to check out the Lou Donaldson. Bob, I've got a 1982 Canadian pressing of One from the Heart that I've played only a few times. I would give it to you. Are you interested? How can we make this happen?
Great lp I bought a week ago robert plant ad alison krauss..fantastic A question: what isnthelabel of fashion nuggets? One of best lp of last 30 years for me
Excellent video Bob,. I really wish I didn't have the target copy of that Robert plant Alison krauss already I may go back and buy it again just have a second copy...lol
Aloha Bob Great stack of LP's you've purchased. To top it off with Alison & Jimmy for $8.00 amazing . Thanks for sharing Bob, looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
Cool albums! I like that Robert Plant & Alison Krauss album as well. I’m sad I missed them this summer when they played here. Their first album is great as well. I bet it’s expensive on vinyl.
Got that Lou Donaldson on the way, should be here this week. Got a first press of that Waits “One From The Heart”. Will have to give it a spin tomorrow to see how great it really is. Thanks for sharing
The Cake reissue is extremely well done. And I heard the box set from years ago was not exactly mastered for vinyl in the first place, making this release even more badass. Cheers BB! 🍺
i have a bootleg of fashion nugget on yellow vinyl. it sounds great honestly. i also have a pressing of holes live through this on bootleg that i never got the official press of either. idk...to me the bootlegs sound great?

Yes - I’m struggling to find a KG cut too
Yeah I’m pretty sure :) almost positive … almost 😂 cheers
I got the Target version of the Krause/Plant Album for $8.00 also. Great album. That the one you should have coming in hot.
For sure it’s a killer record that opening track has serious vibe, glad you were able to get it! Cheers

Yeah it’s weird I don’t know if it was a limited time only thing or what … congrats on sign o the times though, great album.
Target had an online sale last weekend too. Got abbey road for 9.98 and sgt peppers for 11.98 plus others
Bam!
Thanks for the shout out! My Cake was uncleanable and It is too compressed. My bootleg sounds better.
Damn mine sounds stellar🫢

Thanks Ed, cheers
Bob, this has to be one of your greatest quotes of all time, "I have thoughts about Ornette, I try and understand what he is doing." 😄😄
It’s an ongoing process for sure :)
Cool albums! I like that Robert Plant & Alison Krauss album as well. I’m sad I missed them this summer when they played here. Their first album is great as well. I bet it’s expensive on vinyl.
I hope it’s not too expensive, because I’m getting it! Cheers :)

Cold hard facts!
Is Coleman avant garde, or shamelessly self-indulgent?
Possibly both!
