What I love so much about this song is that it shows just how alike Percy and Annabeth are. It's basically Annabeth's version of "Good Kid". Both talk about not being good enough. Annabeth claims that no one will trust and that she needs to prove herself and that she needs someone to notice her. Percy, in "Good Kid" says "I'm good enough for someone". He needs to prove himself to be that because he doesn't feel like he is good enough at all. It's kinda sad when you realize that they are both struggling with this. I guess you can say the same thing about Grover, too. Because of the guilt that he feels about Thalia's death. He says "If I had been brave enough" in "Tree on the Hill". They are all broken and doubting themselves.
They posted some videos of them practicing songs, and this is is one of the songs, and between the verses there's a bit of dialogue Percy says something around the lines of "I know what it's like to not feel accepted". Also, if you didn't get this already, My Grand Plan is Annabeth explaining her life to Percy. Also, you know the part at the end where she sings, "Someone will notice" and then there's a pause and then, "Me." Well, during that pause she looks over at Percy and just stares at him and it's really cute.
Pfft same but After I reread the series including HoO it was like fate I found about the musical and I started listening to the recordings *also I was shocked that it was 2 months ago. Where was I under a rock??? *
A lot of people say that they really connect with Percy but for me, it's always been Annabeth. She has always been my favorite because I can really understand her. I mean, I do great in school and I'm always trying to do something and I'm not very polite at all. Like, a lot of people really love Good Kid because they can totally get what Percy's going through but this is the song that always gets me. I've felt like this so many times. Invisible. Not able to prove myself. From the start Annabeth has always been more relatable to me and I know a lot of people don't agree with this but that's how it is for me
“And all I need is one last chance, To prove I’m good enough for someone.”~Percy “But I promise you I’ll never be invisible again! Someone will notice me.”~Annabeth
What this show managed to do absolutely brilliantly is illustrate that all of the demigods (though particularly Percy, Annabeth, and Luke) have issues stemming from parental abandonment/neglect, which really enhances the main conflict. When Luke turns, it's totally understandable because we've seen how upsetting it is to our heroes that their moms were left "all on their lonesome" and that they're basically invisible to their parents (both godly and non-godly in Annabeth's case). Luke is the head of the Hermes cabin and is almost singularly tasked with the responsibility of helping these dozens of other neglected kids navigate this world of monsters and gods--no wonder he's so pissed at the Olympians!
For real tho, I woulda gone against the gods too. Mother fuckers are irresponsible as hell and then just leave their kids. You know what Olympians need? God of protection. Hoes
I was thinking the same thing. I think it means that sometimes you have to push for what you want and what is right. But pick and choose your battles. What you want isn’t always what’s best.
I'm glad they put in the line about a quest in the real world being the only way to tell whether you're actually good enough, that was a rlly interesting line to me in the books
streamer - yeah, but she wasn’t quite the stereotypical California girl appearance wise just because of her eyes. I believe he described them as intimidating and stormy but also later he describes them as beautiful or something like that
I kind of prefer this over the other version Ive seen where they all just sang most of the songs....Its more Annabeth like...no over singing, no broadway belting, has a very pleasant but determined voice. :)
Annabeth: I've always been a smart girl. Percy: That doesn't seem right... Annabeth: What? Percy: Well, you're not just "smart"... you're more like "wise". You're a Wise-girl Annabeth: *blushes* That's dum. Shut up Seaweed Brain
[LYRICS] *Spoken*: You know the only gift my mom ever gave me, a hat that makes you invisible. You put it on, and no one can see you. Seemed appropriate. *Sung*: I've always been a smart girl Always made the grade, always got the gold star I've always been a smart girl A smart girl only gets a girl so far You win at every single game You wanna quest they tell ya "tough" If you don't go, you'll never know if you'll ever be good enough My grand plan is that I will be remembered My grand plan Just you wait and see! You better wise up. Cause I'll wise up! Bring on any challenge! And someday, soon, someone will notice me I've always been a tough girl Always been the one to not run from a fight Always been a tough girl Cause most girls never win if they're polite So me, I tend to stand my ground I found I never can give in It may not be my quest, but maybe it's mine to win My grand plan is that I will be remembered! My grand plan! Just you wait and see! You better wise up! Cause I'll rise up! Bring on any challenge! And someday soon the world will notice me! And your stepmom treats you like some freak And your dad won't give you the time of day And your mom won't trust you with a quest, so the best thing you can do is run away! Run away... But I have a plan And I will be remembered I will be brave, just wait and see You better wise up. Cause I'll rise up Bring on any challenge! And someday soon I swear! I don't know how or when! Bu I promise you I'll never be invisible again! Someone will notice... me I've always been a smart girl
I can honestly relate so much to Annabeth in the feeling of being invisible and no matter how much you try no one really seems to acknowledge you for your hard work you put in and you feel like you're never enough.
This matched up SO WELL with Annabeth's character! Reminds me of her telling Percy about her dream to be an architect...to make something that'll last a long time
I just saw the musical in Seattle with Sarah Beth Pfeifer (Clarisse) playing the part of Annabeth, and MAN did she kill it. Her voice is incredible throughout, but during this song, she was giving me chills. I only wish there was a way to get a recording of her singing Annabeth's parts because good lord that was incredible.
I always related to Annabeth. I had a similar traumatic childhood to hers. At sixteen years old, I bawled my eyes out to this song last night. The parent/stepparent relationship wasn’t great for me. The part where she sings “So the best thing you can do is run away.” Made my heart stop because I can relate. Then I started crying when she sang the soft “run away” after that.
THIS IS AMAZING!! my childhood omg ive loved PJ since i was like 6 o m g but also i see more toxic behavior/bullying and negativity from musical theater fans than any other fandom ive been in and that makes me sad :(
I started sobbing when I saw this live. I've always related not just to Annabeth, but also Percy, Leo, Nico, and Piper so much that reading about their trauma sometimes felt like I was reading about myself. Uncle Rick's books have helped me in ways I can't even explain.
The parallels between this and Percy’s songs are amazing tbh, one I haven’t seen anyone talking about is “It may not be my quest // But maybe it’s mine to win” and “I’m the son of Poseidon and I didn’t want to be // I’m the son of Poseidon and I am gonna win” it fits so well.
Why is everyone so worked up with every other person's opinions?? Like I, too, don't see much of Hamilton in Annabeth but I'm not telling anyone to stop voicing what they think. Guys, let's just make peace and let each other be happy that we have been blessed with musicals in our life :")))

listening to this song and thinking about how, she did get noticed, her name will go down in history books and she will be known forever. she got what she always wanted at the cost of all that pain and suffering. someone noticed her. shes come so far from where she was, a lost 12 year old. dont mind me I'm totally not crying about this.
"And your stepmom treats you like some freak / And your dad won't give you the time of day / And your mom won't trust you with a quest / So the best thing you can do is run away" Seriously I can relate to Annabeth so much
Has anyone noticed that all of the Big Three Greek kids are very sarcastic, are obsessed with hamburgers, look more like their fathers, and have a thing for blondes? And that Annabeth probably gets her sarcasm and kind of bossy demeanor from Thalia? Just a thought that crossed my mind.
Little did she know that she will redesign Olympus itself, and be the first demigod in 3000 years to succeed in retrieving the Athena Parthenous.and did I mention that she survived Tarterous.
Annabeth in the Labyrinth in line 2 years: *yOUR INSULTING MY KNOWLEDGE, I WANT RIDDLES, NOT STUPID COMMON QUESTIONS THAT ARE EASY TO ANSWER! I DONT CARE IF I DIE IF I GET THEM WRONG*

This song is so relatable. I feel as though I am not noticed for what I do. For my friends, family, the grades I get, all I do is get mistreated and yelled at. I want to be noticed by someone, someone tell me it's okay and I am good enough. No one's noticed the pain I got through. So yeah, I can relate. I can relate to the fact people think I'm not good enough and they will never notice me

I always cry when I hear this because it's so powerful and sad at the same time
listening to this song and thinking about how, she did get noticed, her name will go down in history books and she will be known forever. she got what she always wanted at the cost of all that pain and suffering. someone noticed her. shes come so far from where she was, a lost 12 year old. dont mind me I'm totally not crying about this.
Annabeth: Someday soon the world will notice me
Gaia: 👁️👄👁️
I died

Annabeth: hoping someone notices her
Percy: am I a roach to you?
Pffttt
Don't worry, Annabeth. You'll be remembered by thousands of people in this awesome, strange fandom!
I love they put the hoover dam joke in here but at the same time that's not for another two books lol.
I know this was commented a year ago. But could you find the time stamp for this?! I couldn’t find it
Now everybody knows her name! The hero of Olympus and architect of Olympus.
Who saved Olympus? Annabeth Chase
Who rebuilt it? Annabeth Chase
"And your stepmom treats you like some freak / And your dad won't give you the time of day / And your mom won't trust you with a quest / So the best thing you can do is run away"
Seriously I can relate to Annabeth so much
Has anyone noticed that all of the Big Three Greek kids are very sarcastic, are obsessed with hamburgers, look more like their fathers, and have a thing for blondes? And that Annabeth probably gets her sarcasm and kind of bossy demeanor from Thalia?
Just a thought that crossed my mind.
Love that you included Thalia in “has a thing for blonds” *laughs in Thaluke*
@@mythicalgirl2005 I mean come on, they were twelve-year-olds living alone for a year. We all know something happened.
@@vicenzostella1390
Have you read Luke’s short story in the Demigod Diaries? It’s basically canon they at least liked each other like that.
@@mythicalgirl2005 I have actually, though it's been a while.
2:05 when she says "run away" it sounded like "Golden Days" the song.
I’m one of those people who connect with both percy and annabeth. His sarcasm especially in the latest book and her love of books
It was one lyric.
Dear Hamilton fans, Chill.

Little did she know that she will redesign Olympus itself, and be the first demigod in 3000 years to succeed in retrieving the Athena Parthenous.and did I mention that she survived Tarterous.
3 years latter, a 17 year old semi-man now, and I'll always break out singing this song, it just slaps too hard
To Hamilton fans: Washington is Annabeth's Older brother on Athena's side and Jefferson is A judge of the underworld
Alan Leone-Bridges please,no
What is this a crossover episode
the gaming doggo it’s mentioned in the PJO books
@@ponytailproductions2503 I know I was just making a reference
I LOVE this song so much this one song is much better than two movies together😍
Let's be honest here, one note of this song is better than both movies put together
I agree!
Annabeth will be remembered and my fictional crush 😍
You'd better not let Calypso see that, Leo Valdez
Meh, I've always shipped Leyna.
I gotta say, the themes in this musical and the book are pretty deep.
“Bring on any challenge!”
*Few books later...*
“OKAY, OUT PLAN IS TO SAY ALIVE!”
Lmao fr tho
Annabeth in the Labyrinth in line 2 years: *yOUR INSULTING MY KNOWLEDGE, I WANT RIDDLES, NOT STUPID COMMON QUESTIONS THAT ARE EASY TO ANSWER! I DONT CARE IF I DIE IF I GET THEM WRONG*
Anyone else here from that tiktok?
I love how all three of them got their own "I Want" song.
Percy got a lot of them
my 11 year old self made Annabeth her entire personality and now I can't stop
In case you haven't seen/listened to it, do yourself a favor and look up "My Grand Plan Green Room" where this was live and listen to the alternative opening/ending
1:43 when she delivers that line and the piano plays in the bg omg i love that part --- i swear ive heard it in another song but i cant remember
When you can lowkey relate to a song because all you want is to be known for something other than a smart girl
I can relate to the fact people think I'm not good enough and they will never notice me
Percy Jackson: The Musical?
More like Parent Problems: The Musical ft. Persassy every five seconds
I just saw this last night in San Jose, CA and this was by far one of my favorite songs!
Also it was cool seeing most of the Off-Broadway cast! I was only familiar with the movie but this show was SOOOO MUCH FUN to watch!
