When nobody was trying to go near car... tukaram might have thought he will open the door and catch them single handedly. He has done brave job.
Its not about catching single handedly. The strategy was to catch atleast one of them alive to further investigate and get more information about the terror attack. In order to catch him alive, the gun was to be snatched from his hand and then arrest him so it was natural for someone to either empty handed or least filled hands.
He could have moved aside after realising that he was alive but with that more casualties would have happened and also they wouldn't have had any other option but to fire and kill him.
Showing his presence of mind he decided to face all the bullets and manage to drag him out of the car for others to get hold of him.

Courage is not monopoly of any cadre. Tumkaram omble is was a selfless police. He saved lives of other police and of Mumbai by hurling own life in the line of duty.
If nothing else, the chapter on his bravery must be included in the curriculum without creating any controversy or politics over it.
I would like to know, what his family and those who were emotionally and financially dependent on Tukaram ombleji got from government after his martyrdom ? Is his family being looked after by the government ?
I urge those who are reading this comment, instead of sending many gifts on birthdays to celebrities from show biz world and youtube community, Donate few bucks to the welfare of police, defence and those forces which live for our safety and die while protecting us from enemies. At least this much can be offered as a token of gratitude to these great heroes. ❤️

In reality officer Tukaram omble did the same thing he kept holding kasab until his last breath and because of his courage and bravery Mumbai police managed to caught terrorist alive, a big salute to officers like Tukaram omble and others who sacrificed their lives for protecting Mumbaikars, Real Heroes of India always proud of them.
In reality there was only 5-6 police there and only two of them had pistol, the force joined them later, they fought with pistol and Sticks before the force arrived..
Atleast they could have made it accurate for historic reasons. What a waste movie makers
