great find! thinking of buying that uTest advanced terminal test kit just for that fused amp test lead. seems to make the job so much easier for finding which circuit the short is on.
Hey! I love the content and your live commentary on troubleshooting. What is your go to wiring diagram provider? I liked the one you used in this video
I fixed one of these few weeks ago. It stopped starting. The inverter cooling pump failed. It was the worst smelling electric fire IV ever smelled. It probably still stinks
I put the test light in place of the fuse, so ideally you should have power on one side and a load on the other, as long as the load is under 4 amps then the light will let the current pass and will act as a fuse. If we have a short to ground so we have power on one side and ground on the other so the test light will light bright showing the short. Now you can unplug connectors and when your light goes out, you know your short is on that circuit. The reason I like this method over a circuit breaker is because now we actually have current flowing so we can trace it down with an amp clamp or a thermal imager. Hope I was clear.
Thank you! I have no formal training; I learned the basics from Paul Danner, Aka @scannerdanner. I also subscribe to all the online training I can find, like Keith at L1 Automotive and Brian Mann at Hands-on Auto Training.
My problems with liquid electrical tape is that once i open that bottle and use it the rest of it is cured within a week or so, rendering the investment in a bottle of it a 99% waste. It is gooey and sticks to anything, including skin, hair, even fingernails.
A lot of people complain about that, I'm not sure why I never had that issue, I'm on the same bottle for years. I wonder if the type of whether has to do with it🤔
@@advancedleveldiagnostics keep doing it your way man. one of the reasons I love your channel is how direct and to the point you are. For those that struggle keeping up, they’ve got a pause button and can Google stuff. 😂
Man I love your channel, but that fast-talking, NJ mumbling accent of yours makes it hard to understand. So I put your vides at 0.75 speed. You sound awesome then!!!!
Nice finding the short
If the customer had replaced the headlight bulb they would avoid the dash problem. Thanks for sharing gold with us.

It's a great kit, They do sell the amp test lead separate if you don't need the rest of the kit.

Bro i needed to be with you on beginning of diagnosis!
Can you explain how the test light plugged in method works for finding the short?
