So, if I understood well, it can also mean "to do sth in one's place/in one's stead" right ? For example, if I say "나가 대신 죽여주다를 원하고 있어" then I mean "They want me to kill in their place" right ?

    안녕하세요 윤 선생님!
While I was watching the video, I started to wonder where you got the suffix -ing from for drinking (at 2:03) if the suffix structure -고 있다 is not present in the sentence. However, since the -대신에 structure is being used, does it replace the 고 있다 structure?
Also, Here is my use of the structure professor:
    소리: 야! 마이클!!!!!!!
    마이클: 뭐!?!!?
소리: 영화 *보는 대신에* 바다에 정말 놀고 싶어!
    마이클: 아니야...영화 좋기 때문에 보자.
    소리: 하지만...가고 싶어....
    마이클: 아이씨...알았어...
    소리: 고마웡!

    ______________
선생님 고맙습니다! 아름다운 하루가 되면 좋겠습니다 :)

No, it comes form the nominalization form "~는 것" however, the 것 can be ommited or even placed there and it would still mean the same. Remeber that the presenttense can also mean an ongoing situation.
      뛸 수 없어서 농구치는 것 대신 수영해요.

Teacher I am confused with the composition of this sentence. I got this from my book. Can you help me?
    A: 일요일에도 출근해요?
B: 네, 일요일에 일하는 대신에 월요일에는 쉬어요.
When you translate the 2nd sentence it would mean Yes, Instead of working on sundays I rest on monday. The sentence Sounds weird to me.
