- An Easter Day edition of the long-running BBC TV series “Songs of Praise”, broadcast on 15 April 2001 and presented by Pam Rhodes. With actors Kazie Pelka and Kevin Whately, the choir of Ripon Cathedral, directed by Gordon Stewart with Kerry Beaumont and Andrew Bryden (organ).
This must be one of the simplest and very best Songs of Praise. The congregational, choral and popular singing is of the highest order. Ripon cathedral never looked better. The organ is magnificent. The kettle drums and brass section are epic. The two professional actors recite the Bible texts with all the skill of their craft. Beautifully done.
A good treble line there in 2001. Well done, lads!
Ich mag das sehr gut, !!!!
I wish there were an American version of this program. Maybe I could be in the congregation.
The tune of vulpius is beautiful.
Totally agree, one of my favourites. If you look up Songs of Praise 1980 St Wulfram's, it's sung with full harmonies under the name "Gelobt ser Gott" (opening item of praise on that edition).
alleluia
I prefer the tall Songs of praise (S).
I prefer the tall (S) version (1993-2000) with multicolored background because it had the musicians (1994-1997) and jazz theme tune (1997-2000)
