just realized its episode 25 and i have consistently enjoyed my wednesday lunch to this home renovation for 25 weeks now
😮 25 weeks! Half a year 😮
I mean, I realise that 25 episodes, one episode per week means 25 weeks, but it definitely doesn't feel like that
Just did the same thing 😂. I was watching another youtuber and as soon as I saw Jenna post I clicked over 😂
To be honest, with the amount they are removing for the renovation, I’m feeling like this could have been 24 weeks shorter if Week 1 had a bulldozer…
😂💚 SAME
Same! I am obsessed with them and their journey!!!
The ants were holding hands to keep the house standing!😆
😆
No joke! 😂
so true 🤣
I came here to say the exact same thing, I think they were praying to the Ant gods to keep the house together too
Structural ants and structural glass 😅
Holy crap your sister looks just like you!!! She wasn't joking when she said Jenna Jr. It's definitely heartwarming to see you two standing side by side. ❤❤❤
I was having a hard time telling them apart when they were standing there next to each other. They have the same stance, mannerisms and even their voices are very similar.
She sounds like Jenna too
Their body langage is so much the same haha love it !
I thought it was a camera trick and it was still just the 2 of them. And then I saw Little Nick
Same voice😊
The pure comedy of the four of you just standing there awkwardly is golden, I love it so much 😂
It seems to me, somebody is an actual fan of Wes Anderson movies
I laughed so hard coffee came out my nose.
@ohbebeme too! Tig Notaro is my favorite deadpan comedian 😁
Wes Anderson is furiously scribbling notes for his next film. 😂😂😂
I was just laughing for the same reason 🤭😜😂
Every time the camera spans to the ocean, that view, makes it all worth while. Keep up the great content. Stay safe.
I'm going to be "that guy" it's a strait. It's attached to the ocean, but it's not open ocean.
@@keriezy okay, still an awesome view of that blue blue waters.
YES! Love it! Location location location!
It and the general house layout is gorgeous. I hope they're also able to preserve most of the timber for rebuilding the home.
@@keriezyeven better weather that way 😊
I gotta say. That potted plant really pulls the room together.
It's the little details that make a room cozy!
It's really pretty and adds just the right touch
Agreed.
😅
Hahaha I was thinking the same thing
Between the massive mold problems and the other damage you constantly uncover I'm honestly relieved you're demolishing this much. It's going to be awesome once rebuilt.
@ohbebe
If you look at it like that... everybody gets to be right 😅
Every time I've been sad about an element being taken down within that episode or the next they find decay/ants or it has been held together by one nail for 60 years.
My four year old decided he wanted to watch too, so please keep being your wholesome selves.
I love the 1 single houseplant sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by nothing!! At least its getting the most out of that beautiful summer sun!! Lol
omg, your sister's mannerisms are SO similar to yours - it never ceases to amaze me when siblings are like that. even the first few seconds of her introducing herself i was like wow she's so much like jenna, and her voice too! so cool
They have the exact same body language, it's great
I have heard of the "Open room" concept when people take down a wall between like the kitchen and living room, but this is taking it to a new level.
Can we just take a minute to give huge props to Jenna's editing skills? Pure talent! It's on par with some television series but better because it's real! I can only imagine how long it takes to set up cameras to film, let alone edit. Amazing job Jenna!
To everyone shaking their heads at how much corner cutting the original builders took, you probably don't want to know what horrors are hiding in your own home.
You say that, but I had professionals cut my house in half and truck it 400km. I _know_ what Horrors there are. e.g. The back porch was bolted to the weatherboard (shiplap). The front door frame was originality resting on nothing. Held up by being nailed to the walls.
Especially now that we use cheaper materials
@app103 yup. never knew a contractor that didn't cut a few corners. In both my major refurbish/makeovers, we uncovered some dozies. Like, my entire house sits at an angle relative to the street. Surveyor must have had his hang-over head on heavy tilt.
Ture
My house was build in the 70s. I can’t run the dishwasher and the vacuum at the same time without blowing a fuse unless I use a specific outlet. Fun times.
I love that Mystery Man is back. He's a great supporting character.
The reason why everything was still up even with all that damage is because structures do a really cool thing when the way it’s being supported changes. The whole dynamic of the load distribution and how it’s being held up changes as well. If the load can’t go through that post anymore, it’ll find another way to go down to the foundations (it’s a little more complex than this), and in this case, it worked well enough for the house not to fall (I’m an actual civil engineer)
That would make sense, since they noted that it seems like the glass had started to take on the load of the roof while every structural support rotted
Do you think this is an isolated incident that this house has deteriorated so badly or that most houses this age, in this climate, if de-constructed, would have the same issues?
@@rodo3287 Houses can experience any or all of these problems, but the house got in this bad of condition because it was neglected and abandoned for years. If you are doing reasonable maintenance a house would not get nearly this bad. If you keep up with your house, it may have no significant problems at all even when it is quite old. Preventing leaks (or at least stopping them quickly) would be the most important.
Some problems may exist from improper construction or design, but that's another thing you can catch if you are paying attention. For example your house will show signs of excessive settlement long before it becomes a dangerous problem. You just have to play maintenance whack-a-mole with every problem that comes up.
@@aaroncecil7509 Thank you for your informative reply.
@@aaroncecil7509 It's called the Joy of Being a Homeowner. There's always one job that needs doing. I thought I'd get some long deserved rest after I retired ...
Jenna, I’ve followed you for years: from the dream lamp, your old apartment, the solo apartment and now this masterpiece. I’m so happy you finally got to 1 million!
Same here. Much respect and appreciation for all the inspiration and hard work.
The single potted plant is exactly what the house needed. Definitely finishes off the home decor
You need to give ants 30 days notice of eviction, you can’t just be kicking them out like that. They have squatters rights.
If the house is being almost completely dismantled and tossed, why is there a need to spray for the ants? Just curious.
So they don’t keep coming back as they rebuild
@@user-hd1nv7xe9g I think they are biting them if they get up their pant legs so they are just being safe.
Fortunately they're not in California, otherwise it'd be years of lawsuits to get them evicted.
I think they may be carpenter ants which eat timber like termites
Something about you two having fireside chats when the fireplace is the only thing still standing cracks me up
Jenna’s sister stepping forward to wave high and then stepping back had me laughing out loud. 😆
You two sitting in front of the fireplace with no walls and roof looks hilarious 😂
I love it ❤
I really identify with your videos! My last house was built in the Victorian era - to a Georgian plan. When we took the floor up we found out the bottom of the staircase was supported by… nothing actually. There was about 6 inches of air underneath it. How the house was still standing is beyond me. Far as I can tell most of it was held up with spit and hope. Since 1840!!!
What State and or Providence?
@@melissaroscher1080 I’m in the UK. Was in London at the time…
The old chimney stones... I might have held on to those just a bit in case they could prove useful at a later stage. If you find out you need stones like that for something, you already have some on hand. A penny saved and all that.
Plus: history.
Was just going to comment something like this. It also might be fun to do a project with them too
Concur!
A penny saved… on a $2 million dollar house…
@@tyrelirwin every penny counts
I'm a simple gorl, I see Jenna post, I click
Same 😂
Same!
This is the most meticulous undoing of a house I've ever seen😅 and I LOVE IT! 😂
As a BC resident I applaud your channel, you bring joy to renovations. Congrats for the million viewers, hoping for a million more.
real
Notice where you have ants have been nesting, and during reconstruction, spread a LOT of diatomaceous earth.
Spraying with borax is required in a number of jurisdictions by the sill plate and on the lower of the exterior studs and where wood is contacting concrete.
How about downsizing the deck?
I always love Nicky's fun facts
That can’t be the end! That was the fastest 19:02 minutes! And Jenna Jr. is no joke. Wow! Are yall twins? The house will be so amazing with floor to ceiling windows. ❤️🙏🏻Have a blessed day!
Ok, the music choices in this video were *chef’s kiss* perfect! 😂 Also, the Tetris bin stacking skills are top notch
💯
Right???😅
Its WEDNESDAY yall!!! Go Jenna! Go Nicky!!
And Sheila
Jenna Jr is actually Jenna cloned 😮
They look shockingly similar. They look like twins
It's pretty incredible they built this house on that big rock! It's even more incredible you two working on this so diligently without complete exhaustion! Congrats on 1M subscribers!
When the house is finished, pretty please put a framed photo on the mantle of you guys, with the fan, sitting in front of the glorious fireplace.
Love meeting your sister. Those beautiful views are worth the cost. Today you said, "my house." And Nick said, "our house." Have you bought the house together? We love this series.
I am so relieved to see you haven’t given up on the house after everything!!
Well, they can't back down now
It was $2 million dollars…there’s no backing down
Not much of a house left mostly 2mil for land
Am I the only one that loves to hear Nick say "wooow"?
Someday, Jenna needs to do all the Nick's "wows" into a single mash up. It will be epic.
I would love it!
The PASSION, HARDWORK, and my favorite DETERMINATION is evident in every single #vlog...✨️ 🫶🏻 ✨️ 🫶🏻 ✨️
I'll never tire of that incredible view over the water. All this work is worth it for that alone.
Jenna Jr is actually Jenna cloned .
Nick, everyone deserves a big outside toot when working so hard. Jenna, I look forward to your demo each week. Great job and those ants are the cornor stone in keeping that house together. Stay safe.
You got help! For a part you didn't need help for😂
Those awkward introductions were gold. You guys are great!
Also yay for more Fun Facts With Nick!!
I want you to know how much I appreciate that you keep your language clean! It’s nice to watch content without all the cursing that seems to be so prevalent on TH-cam.
I did not notice.. but that IS true 😉
Watermelon & Blueberries. Toot Salad!
😂😂
I just adore how you end these videos.
Cutting pieces of steel beam so they go over and down is so reminiscent of my cats knocking stuff off furniture.
😂
lol!!! The summer toots. That’s the truth though!
OMG, I have so much to say about this episode! It's hilarious. Mystery Man is great, and I could only tell you and your sister apart just because of the clothes! outside wall part was awesome hahahah so it was your living room with the fan + fireplace + plant
I have never seen a skip stacked so neatly. An indication of how much care they take and how beautiful their new house will be. Well deserved 1M 😊
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers! 🥂🎉 Still enjoying your videos as much today as day one. Keep up the great work of demolition and the great editing. 👍❤️
the lineup of the introduction of volunteers had me howling, so hilarious. Congrats on the 1M !!!!
Happy 1 million Jenna. You are truly the best and the kindest TH-camr ever ❤️
15:45 I love how Jenna and Jenna junior have the same look 😂❤️
That view is amazing- you’re very blessed to have been able to buy this property. I love watching your progress. ❤️😁
Many Many Congratulations Dear Jenna on 1 Million Subscribers I am so so so happy for you and you deserve it🥹🥹🎊🎊💖💖🎂🎂
These videos are so entertaining I’m so happy you are continuing to do them!
this channel means so much to me
I loved getting to see your sister- there’s something so wonderful about having shared mannerisms like that
Girlie you found me when I needed you haha. I was so bored and now I get to watch a new video
this is the great contend on you tube right now. the music the way you talk to each other just everything about this contend is awesome
Since you all are taking down the entire house.
Will there be a NEW design for the NEW house?
This entire project has been wonderful to watch!!!
Thank you for all the joy you all bring to so many!
🎉🎉Congrats on the 1 million!!!!🎉🎉
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think they definitely want to repeat the style of the old house. Jenna mentioned in their Q&A, that a mid century home has always been her dream. And that this 'restauration' (rather than a completely new build) will allow them to keep most of the old features, which wouldn't be allowed in a 'new' house anymore. Because of stricter regulations when it comes to energy saving features and stuff. So they're kinda cheating the system by actually building a new house, but labeling it a 'restauration', so they can do it in the style they want.
I became obsessed w your crochet content a couple months before you bought the house! as someone who just bought their first house and is trying to do renovations-I can’t even comprehend how you guys took on this project! but I can’t get enough. love you jenna thanks for keeping the content great no matter what you’re doing!
I think we need an edit where the clips go in reverse, so it looks like you are rebuilding the original house piece by piece
I love that you can take on a project of this magnitude and have fun...at least on the parts that make it to camera.
Yay. Kermit hands🤗
Congrats on a milli!!!
Awesome job everyone!😊
You two have WAY more motivation than I ever would. Things are coming right along. Love watching these every Wednesday. :D
I thought this was a renovation, but looks like a complete rebuild( minus the pool and yard)! Good luck to you both! The view is worth the money alone!
It's always lovely to see your family visiting and helping 🥰
Love your humor! And I love the addition of the plant lol !!!
That's, by far, my favorite TH-cam channel right now. And my favorite thing to watch in general. Love from Brazil
Congrats on 1 million Jenna and Nick!!!
I love watching you two!! You are a breath of fresh air, I love how you treat each other with love and respect, and you're funny on top of it. In this day and age when a lot of young folks aren't willing to work hard for what they want, you two are out there busting your butts off. To me, it's much more rewarding to work and earn things on your own. Wishing you the best for now and in the future.
It’s really fun watching you disassemble an entire home. 😂
I respect you and all the work you are doing. I am old now and I wish I could do what you are doing. I also loved your crochet flower dress.
The hard work is working yall!!
It would be cool if one episode you wen5 over the plans you undoubtably have for the house once you start rebuilding. Maybe include the architect/engineer/designer youre working with? I think that would be very cool and also helpful to visualize what your goal is for the house.
I so love this series! You two are so enjoyable! Anxiously waiting for next episode!
Whoo hoo!!! One Million. Congratulations 🎉 Jenna & Nikki
I love watching you 2 you are so funny and incredibly hard workers can't wait to see each new episode 😊
Fantastic view. Just think, in 2 years you will look out those panoramic windows and know in your bones that you did this.
Omg love you guys and the Q&A was really cool to get to know you guys more. Where is HGTV this could seriously be a great series on there!! Sending good vibes to you both on making it this far on this HUGE project and enjoying the time you spend on it together ☺️
14:02 Shame that you threw out the fire brick. They would've made a great outdoor firepit near the pool or overlooking the backyard.
I was thinking that too
This series is 50% home renovation and 50% roasting the previous builders. I'm here for it.
Come for Nick's "Summer Toots" and "Fun Facts". Stay for Jenna's "Happy Demolition Tunes". 😁
You two are some of my favorite peoples!!! Love watching your progress!!! I can’t wait to see you rebuild!!!
This place is going to be amazing!!!❤️😁🥰
I hate to be a debbie downer, I really enjoy this series, Jenna and nick, I tip my hat to you guys for taking on such a huge project, but, the videos, can they be just a little bit longer, the content is amazing!!!!! Thanks !!!'
Congratulations on the 1M 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Been invested since the 1st episode of "so I brought a house"...
Look forward to each episode every week & the progress 🫶🏻
I summer toot all day, every day when I'm alone. I can confirm, it is definitely because of the watermelon and blueberries.
I just can not put into works what great entertainment this channel has. Thank you
This is my absolute favorite thing to watch ❤
we need Longer Video’s. love you for sharing this new journey w/ us! 🥰
Happy 1 Million!
You can use a wood block to get much more leverage (mechanical force) with your crowbar.
15:52 Omg Jenna has a clone! It’s so funny how they look the same, genetics are scary man !😂
Mystery Man - is so awesome - supper speedy and great work ethic. He could put all the episodes he is in on his CV 😊
We sold our dream boat, one that we lived on and had sailed thousands of miles around the Pacific ocean on, because of old rotten plywood. I despise old plywood and everything that eats it. Ants, termites, mold, and fungus. We couldn't win without doing exactly what you're doing, tear off the roof, walls, posts, beams, and deck. We couldn't support two places to live and such a huge project while working. I applaud your persistence, energy, and positive attitudes, some of which I lack.
Jenna Thank you very much for the super discount on Craftsy. Love this DIY Series about your home, so educational and entertaining. Greetings from Mexico City!
I truly love the 'Go Nicky! Go Nicky!' from all the videos. It adds a special touch
I came across this channel today, and have been watching these videos back to back. Kinda fun to see them going from "we're going to renovate this house" to ripping off the roof... the 2nd floor interior walls.... exterior walls..... floor...... first floor exterior walls... most of the interior walls....
That's not a reno anymore.
Also.... mystery man.... blink if you're being held against your will.
Farting is a huge relationship milestone
The way I felt it in my soul when Jenna sighed about there being more ants. When we lived in Oregon I swear our apartment was on an anthill...no matter how clean we kept things we were always inundated. 😭😭 I absolutely live these videos. 💕💕💕
My mom in AZ gets these tiny, almost invisible little ants, only in their upstairs bathroom. 🤔 We can never figure out why.
