    I would want to see the Bear school recreated, but instead of mages running the trials, it would be druids. Druids have a greater understanding of herbs and mutagens. They could possibly perfect and modify the trial of grasses to decrease it's mortality rate, yet increase the effectiveness of the mutations.

      @Caesar-qi6wg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Although that is true about their knowledge, you do run the chance of druids being less capable of working with witchers in the sense of morality. Witchers aren't exactly the most natural thing to walk the earth, basically defying nature. Druids seem to have a tight-knit relationship with nature, and I feel as if many of them would plainly reject even considering viewing the trails. Honestly, though, that would be a really cool touch, and that's a neat thought of yours.

      If the Bear School really is/was in Skellige, they probably did work with druids. But they might not’ve trusted the druids enough to give them the leeway to learn the school’s secrets and modify them.

    In addition to Skillige, one part I loved about Blood and Wine was how the people of Toussaint had tremendous respect for Witchers. You didn't deal with anyone that hated your presence. In fact, even though you can't tell for sure because you never get any time in Nilfgaard proper, they seem not to mind you as much, unless it's personal like with Emperor Emhyr. The contempt and distrust towards Witchers seems to be mostly a Northern Kingdoms thing.

    • @Engine33Truck
      @Engine33Truck 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Sutton TW3 does portray the South as being much friendlier to witchers then the North. When you walk past Nilfgaardian soldiers (so long as you aren’t pissing everyone off by pushing them and running them over), the things they say will be at least respectful, if not fairly affectionate. Over the course of playing and replaying TW3, I’ve come to the theory that the Griffin School was in Toussaint, and might possibly survive. I believe no one in the North knows much about them because Griffins give the North a wide berth due to its reputation. If they heard about the attack on Kaer Morhen, they might believe that the populace butchered every Witcher in the North, including their brethren that ventured there, so may have a directive to stay away.

      Toussaint is not actually a Nilfgaardian province tho. It is neighbor to Cintra if you look at the map. It is more like a neutral state with relative to both the northern realms and Nilfgaard through intermarriage of noble and royal families. In the 3rd game Cintra and Temeria are both already conquered by the empire and thus makes Toussaint inside the territory of Nilfgaard. The idea about Toussaint is likely inspired by Switzerland in Roman Empire

    I would like the Witcher 4 to start of as you coming out of a coma or something after finishing the trail of grass, then the tutorial is getting your medalian, when you get it it's a new one, one we have never heard of before, then the game is based around helping to rebuild this new school, and you could come up against people who don't want it to happen, whilst recruiting new witchers from other schools to help train and build up this school, I think that would be fun

  • @titusseverance1484

    My thoughts (for what there worth and also note I have just started on the books so please forgive any lure errors this is all based on my experiences from witcher 3 and various videos including those from this channel.) on the survival of the witchers and there respected schools First off assuming all witchers spoken above survived, are willing to work together, that they believe another confluence of spheres will happen and assuming that Ciri is going to be crowned empress. The witchers could use Ciri and her influence to rebuild Kaer Morhen with the agreement that a witcher would be represented at court and that the witchers would remain an independent faction. The court of the empire would now handle all witcher contracts meaning that if you need a witcher you would asked the court of the empire to send one. The courts would also pay the witchers for there services not the peasants insuring that the witchers stay will founded, and that Kaer Morhen would be paid not the individual Witchers, as Kaer Morhen would be using the funds to provide food water materials and smithing to the witchers. The witchers would become an isolated warrior monk type class only leaving Kaer Morhen at the request of the court on accepted monster contracts. All current witcher schools would be welcome at Kaer Morhen with a type of council ruling the day to day activities and witch contracts from court would be taken and witch school would be sen. With the council members themselves represented by the highest ranking member of each school. Each school would train its own recruits in the ways of said school slowly building members while at the same time protected by the empire the witchers could slowly rebuild in their isolation preparing for the next confluence of the spheres to happen and they are needed in the world again.

      While I like your idea, the world needs wandering Witchers. The time it would take a single witcher to travel from Kaer Morhen to, let's say, a village in Cintra would be the difference between a few peasants killed to A LOT of peasants killed and/or the monster moving to another place... Plus, the Path serves its purpose. It might be considered brutal, but the Witchers that survive the Path are the most efficient...

I thought that was just a special kind of teleportation between worlds, like Ciri does all the time, but Avallac'h just stayed there, helping keep the portal stable so she could return more easily...I never though that was another conjunction of the spheres...

    I was would think Undvic is an ideal place for a new switcher school. The new king or queen of skelege wants to rebuild on the island, and it has some good infrastructure, but after the tear appeared there (when ciri opened the tower to defeat the frost) the island became even more overrun by monsters. So, make a deal for the secrets Yenifer uncovered, and have druids act as mages for the trials, recruit brave warriors to train in hard skelege, and let them perfect their advanced skills at the new school on the island of Undvic. Not only would this quickly br8ng the island monster population under control, it would also create a fighting force of super human fighters loyal to skelege. Of course if you let Ciri become empress chances are she would open a new school in Nilfguard with Yenifers help.

      Thomas Whitmore Roche world probably convince Anais to gift the Witchers a fort and lands in Temeria too. Whenever the next Witcher comes out, if it’s in the future as opposed to being a prequel then the order could be pretty well off. It’d be a nice change of pace compared to the few Witchers we encounter throughout the series.

    If humans were thrown in the vampire realm they'd be fucked either way.
    It took Regis and Dettlaff a while to develop and understanding and compassion for humans, but the first vampires to arrive, the ones that built Tesham Mutna saw humans as mere cattle.
    Thrown into a world filled with vampires, many of them at least as powerful as Dettlaff, humanity would be quickly enslaved with or without witchers.

    I have a very strong amount of support for rebuilding the Witchers. Now that they have the secrets to once again create more of their kind, I want to see it happen, and see Kaer Morhen rebuilt. Large new groups of would-be Witchers going through the caves of Kaer Morhen to complete their trial, an ACTUAL Witcher codex to be followed at all times as Geralt often refers to, an additional haven built on Skellige to keep in good company, and freely wandering the world, on their Path.
    All of this, with Geralt as grandmaster, sitting in the highest room in the tallest tower of Kaer Morhen, looking over the castle and ensuring no one will ever need fear the wrath of monsters as night, knowing they can sleepy undisturbed and live a peaceful life. Why do I want this to happen so badly? Because Vesemir would want it that way.

In the third Witcher if your paying attention to the dialogue when ciri goes to stop the white frost the only way she can is through the conjunction of spheres that's why all those giants, spiders, monsters, and other creatures appeared when ciri opened the gate. So who knows how many crossed over in the time she closed the gate. As well as the conversation we never got to have with eskel once yennifer did the trial of the grasse again.

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Well that's the thing, is the person she meets on the forest road Geralt as many speculate (I don't actually believe that considering the way he talks) or another witcher. He does make quick work of the monster attack. Considering what's been happening to Witchers in the way they've been treated and the way some people even tried killing them, it might've been feasible they simply went into hiding like I suspect the Nilfgaardian schools might've done. Nimue even doubts their extinction herself, though that could be wishful thinking as well of course, we just don't know for sure.

    • @kamilszadkowski8864
      @kamilszadkowski8864 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The event you're describing happened few hundreds years after Geralt's death. We don't know if this is Sapkowski's joke, or maybe some new entry to whole other story. (I'm pretty sure she meet Geralt there, I just don't have explanation for it other than he maybe is able to leave the Avalon when he wants) Suffice to say that in times when Nimue verch Weldyr ap Gwyn resides in her tower, witchers are long gone.
      Oh, and about the Manticore school. Don't you think that developers created it just to have an excuse to implement Witcher 1 armour to the game? I wouldn't treat this too seriously.

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It might still be, I just felt like his whole demeanor was so off from the Geralt we know. He seems very loose and a bit coarse as well, not the snarky, methodical witcher he was before. He might've just changed of course who knows, but I'd like to hear about that story too because it's just guesswork now. Even if all the Witchers are gone at this point though, sorcerers could still figure out the ways of making a witcher in the same way Yennefer did. Honestly I'm not even sure how she found out because it's not really explored very deeply at all. Any ideas on that?
      And yeah they might have but I like to think that even the smallest ideas can spawn wonderful new stories. :p

    • @kamilszadkowski8864
      @kamilszadkowski8864 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      One explanation is that she already took part in the trials in the past. Hmm... I think that in the Blood of Elves book there is small hint that Yennefer visited Kaer Morhen in the past. Or maybe she visited other schools too. It seems the Coen was very young, younger than witchers of wolf school. Thet could mean that Griffin school was producing witchers longer than other schools. Who knows maybe Yennefer took part in that. After all in she's 101 years old in the games. Who knows what she was doing in the past.
      She also could just visit the laboratory in the Kaer Morhen and read the formulas while waiting for Geralt there (in the Game).

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually a very interesting idea, that she might've already been a part of the Trials before. Although I actually think the current Witchers noted that she had never gone to Kaer Morhen before while Triss had many times before. But perhaps Istredd had taught her about it? I believe he's quite a bit older than Yennefer and since they were so close I don't think he'd mind. Though I really like the Griffin school idea too, it would also mean she'd kept that information hidden from Geralt entirely.
      The thing about the laboratory is that I feel like Salamandra would've done a better job producing semi-witchers if all the information was there, although Triss does mention they didn't get everything there, just the more important things.
      I'm kind of hopeful that Sapkowski might write another book but this time from the perspective of a different Witcher school. That would give us a little more insight in how they work and perhaps if their trials are different as well. He could even weave it in as a backstory and if Yennefer was a part of the Griffin school process that would be really cool to read about.

    Though it did happen (conjunction of spheres) during what Avallac did to help Ciri get to the source of the white frost for her to finally stop it. So if any monsters that were managed to have been extinct may have been repopulated. On my opinion or theory to help mankind against monsters without the witchers, the remaining ones could pass on their knowledge. Their Bestiary, Silver weapons, bombs. There the soldiers would have a better chance of success.

    Personally I want a game where you play as Ciri, though far enough in the future that Ciri is Empress of Nilfgaurd. You could have a fantastic story about Ciri needing to unite the world of the Witcher against an invasion from another world. This would play to the Witcher series strength of having fantastic characters since Ciri would be needing to deal with them to build alliances and foster support. It also plays into a lot of b-stories with various factions political machinations.
    You could also have plenty of room for action since Ciri can travel between worlds and likely need to do so in order to find out what she can about the invaders. Ciri could even engage in a good bit of monster hunting as she could end up in worlds with new and exciting monsters to kill that she needs to first research to find their weaknesses.
    The other thing I'd want with this is to be part of large battles where the outcome of the battle acts as a sort of narrative choice within the game. Depending on how many of your troops survive, how many enemies you kill and if you capture enough objectives will affect the story in different ways.

    I know I'm terribly late to the party, indeed I'm too late even for the cleanup, but I wanted to mention that were I to be in Geralt's shoes after Witcher 3, I'd totally build a school on Undvik (where the blacksmith's tools were found). Nobody lives there anymore, and there's plenty of stone around to build with. It's quite defensible as well. In fact, after evicting the resident harpies, one could move straight in to the cavern system within those same hills. I'd do things differently however, doing away with the various schools and instead focus on general witcheriness. I'd get a bunch of Rock Trolls to come and live on the isle as well, serving as a protectors. I'd get Dandelion to write everything he knows, and then have someone who isn't a bullshit artist to edit it, so that it was fit to be called reference material. And I'd have that surgeon with the crossbow come and teach preventative medecine.

    I'm not sure wether or not CD Project Red will be willing to make other games about Witcher's world without Geralt now that his life as a witcher is pretty much done. For sure if there other games on that subject it must include Ciri and as you said they should just wait for an other aligment...

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      None of my ideas include Geralt sadly, since they already said this would be the end of his chapter. Though it's hard to imagine the Witcher world without him. :(

    • @Mugiwara1312
      @Mugiwara1312 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's hard, but they gave such a good ending about his "story", it would be a bit disapointing to see him back after that. A game with Ciri, or why not another Witcher before all the events of the books and games could be interesting. But personnaly, I'd rather like to see CD Projekt focusing on some new stuff after Cyberpunk.

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Honestly I don't think a Witcher mmo would work for me. Not because I don't think it would be awesome but because due to the way MMO's work they'd have to compromise on a lot of cool story ideas because they'd be too difficult to implement for multiple players in the same world. Not to mention group content would be weird especially when playing as a Witcher, because Witchers don't really do group content. :p
      I'd much rather see another amazing single player project with lots of story to sink our teeth into. And yes, a tv-show like Game of Thrones would be INCREDIBLE! The "original" tv series didn't really do it for me. U_U

    • @Mugiwara1312
      @Mugiwara1312 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, it would be a massive challenge to have an MMO with as much attention on the writting as in the previous games, ans it's clearly one of the big point for CD Projekt. In the other hand, a solo game taking place a long time before and/or in a area we didn't get to see until now could be refreshing, and at the same time give them more liberty with the story and characters.
      And, yeah, better not talk about that tv series, I can already feel blood tears in my eyes.

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The thing is, the Witcher is mainly a story driven game so compromising on story elements would be really, really bad.
      But on the point of another single player game, there's this:
      "It's too early to talk about it, but it's not like we're forgetting about this brand - that's understandable. (...) It wouldn't be fair towards the fans. We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don't think it's going to be the end of it", CEO Adam Kicinski said to the Polish TV station TVN24 BiS.
      World of Warcraft exploded and made a ton of money immediately, they're almost impossible to dethrone at this point unless they do it themselves. Plenty of developers have tried and they simply never get the traction that Warcraft got. I'm not saying a Witcher MMO is an impossibility but even attempting it is a huge risk that will likely not pay off, especially when you alienate the portion of the fanbase that's there for the story.
      For example I'm a die hard Witcher fan but I would not be interested in playing whatever end game they could come up with for a Witcher MMO because the only end game I'd want is more story, that's why I play Witcher games. And MMO's, even the good story ones like Final Fantasy XIV, just aren't up to scratch when it comes to the serious deep lore like the Witcher games or Dark Souls.

    ... Admittedly, it's been a minute since I finished the main campaign of Wild Hunt, but I seem to recall - right after giving Eredin some silver - that all of a sudden a whole bunch of monsters were showing up. All at once. I even seem to remember Yennefer saying that it was because Avalla'ch had brought a new Conjuction. Which would mean more monsters than ever in the world. So yeah, monsters may have been a dying breed before, but it seems to me like they might be more needed than ever. Even if it hadn't been a new Conjunction at the end of the Wild Hunt campaign, what happens to the population of any prey when the predators who hunt them start vanishing?
    If not needed now, there will definitely be a need for Witchers in the future.

    I feel that when it comes to dealing with monsters, humanity would be just fine. While Witchers are faster and stronger than any human, their real strength is knowledge, knowing how to deal with certain monsters and even curing a curse is based on knowing the right stuff. And imagine how much easier life would be if most people knew to use silver against a monsters. With Witchers gone, people would be forced to learn these things and while they would never kill a monster faster than a Witcher they would eventually get it. Even Geralt admits that when he’s talking to the Unseen Elder claiming that normal people could kill Dettlaff, a higher vampire, even though it could take a decade. Humans reproduce insanely fast compared to other species and will eventually overwhelm with sheer numbers. So while Witchers are helpful, I firmly believe that humans would go on without them.

    • @jackbelmont4389
      @jackbelmont4389 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True but the where monsters lack on numbers the make up in might and raw power. For example A fiend alone could destroy a settlement pretty much on its own. And necrophages feed and thrive on the waste and corpses of the always dying humans or animals. And thats without taking into account the thinking beasts. The unseen elder hasnt taken over the world just because he hopes and safe guards the entrance to his world. If he ever gets tired of that he can command all the other vampires to lay siege on the humans

    If Yennifer started intentionally producing witchers I think it would break her heart. It takes a certain amount of enjoyment for cruility to do that job day in day out. Tress for example drastically changed the training program for Cirie to be less intense because she was horrified by the amount of punishment she was being put through.

  • @faultier1158

    Industrialization and the invention of proper science might be good tools to deal with more monsters. People might start to actually study monsters / curses /magic and learn how to deal with them. And this might also lead to better ways to create Witchers (or similar mutants) or to use magic.
    And for ordinary humans, guns are ofc better weapons (and you can use silver bullets if you try very hard^^) than swords or bows. Especially against monsters.
    So they might end up with guns, explosives, cars, and very advanced magic.
    But takes some serios changes in society to be able to make a steady technological progress. Who knows when (or if) those changes happen?

      I think that will be the way of this world. And sooner rather then later.
      Their mages are already pretty scientific minded, Oxenfurt academy already educates mages, architects and others on a level that would place them in our 16th century maybe (and that is in the "provincial" northern realms), they got the printing press already it seems, and with alchemy being widespread it is only a matter of time till someone decides that things blowing up by accident could also blow up on purpose.

    On this subject,it makes me think that maybe there's other Witchers across the seas ((Ofir and zangvebar)) that could be a place for Witchers to go to or be made in since those lands don't associate themselves too much with the continent or Skellige Isles. Hearts of Stone showed how different their culture was by the armor and weapon they had, they were like Persians, Mongols, or Turks, who were more Asian and Russian ((and I mean the part of Russia that borders Mongolia and China)) than European. That culture gap can save Witchers from the cruel world of the continent since there's been a big history of conflict. Asia and Arab-Asia have always distanced themselves from the main wars many years ago. Just my two cents in this discussion.

    I think the next game should let you create your own Witcher and decide the School they belong to. Do it like Dragon Age: Origins where the prologue differs depending on what school you chose. If it takes place in the past then it should be around either the height of the order’s power, or when they began to collapse. If it’s in the future then they should have rebuilt to the point where there are at least 3 proper Witcher settlements throughout the world map, while the other 3 Schools are small and mostly nomadic. The Wolf School rebuilt in Temeria upon land gifted to Geralt, Eskel, and Lambert by Anaïs La Valette thanks to Roche and Thaler. The Bear School rebuilt on Undvik in Skellige, formed by the remaining nomadic Ursine Witchers after the An Craite monarch offered their order Sanctuary to replenish their numbers, inspired by Geralt and realising that the world needed more of the Witchers. Lastly the School of the Cat. Having abandoned their immorality and ideology, reforming their school into a more honourable order, they re-established themselves in Aedirn where they were able to recruit plenty of Elves and Humans under the protection of Saskia and Iorveth. The School could potentially even swear an oath of loyalty to the Crown, wherein they shall aid the country in the event of an invasion. Their School would actively defend the Queendom because it represents what the rest of the world should look like; Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Witchers, and Humans, all living in a state of equality.
    The School of the Viper would undoubtedly be rebuilt somewhere in the south if Ciri is Empress, as she and Yen would feel like they owed Letho for protecting both of them. The School of the Griffin would probably still reside in whatever location they already inhabited up in the far north. The Manticore is trickier because I imagine they would be more nomadic and simply travel around from School to School.
    Hmm... thoughts??? (:

    My theory:At one point gerald wil be old, really old and the last witcher (accept Ciri). That is when some mages who figured out how to speed up the conjuction of spheres do that, gerald dies saving Ciri and Jennefer. Ciri and Jennefer start making new witchers, and that would be the start of witcher 4, we would start with a novich caracter who will have to learn everything, and face monsters never known by any witcher!

    In my opinion in the future people will be more open towards witchers, mostly because of Dandelion’s ballads romanticizing their figure as charming heroes rejected by society, and Geralt has become rather famous in the future because of that. So, it wouldn’t be impossible for witchers to return, I mean, a powerful state like Nilfgaard would certainly benefit from perfecting and enhancing the witcher formula, maybe even fixing their infertility problem, so to craft an army of incredibly strong soldiers, or even empower all of humanity through magical mutations (although here we exit fantasy and enter science fiction).

    I think they'll rebuild the Witcher schools in secret. The Witchers and mages, specifically Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, know what the future holds. I imagine them perfecting and rebuilding the Witcher schools, and during the next convergence they come out of hiding to be held as heroes. A small army of Witchers and mages fighting against a seemingly endless wave of new monsters flooding into the world. They'd be able to rebuild the reputation, blaming archaic practices on the behavior of failed Witchers. The common folk will be overjoyed to have protectors and will accept them with open arms.

  • @behindthetree9022
    @behindthetree9022 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it's not that they can't make more witches but they don't want to. Most of the witchers we see hate being a witcher (except Ciri, but Ciri has supper power) and don't want to force that fate onto the next generation. If I remember correctly Letho didn't want to rebuild the school of the Viper, he just wanted to lift the ban so the witchers of the south can come out of hiding and live a "normal" live again. Well yes hundreds years later there might be another conjunction and witchers might be needed once more but I don't think a "possibility" is a good enough reason for people like Lambert or Geralt start to gamble with kids lives in the trial of the grasses again (and I don't blame them, its heartbreaking to see Uma pulling thru that). But there always be fanatics like the Salamandras who want to create more mutants "for the good of humanity" at any cost.

    I’m curious about Ciri. I know that sterility is a common trait among Witchers. But then, the largest sum of Witchers were male. Would the mutations affect females the same? Or would they be able to reproduce with other races, and if the child shows signs of being a Witcher (bore with the cat eyes or something equally obvious), then they could always be trained in the methods. Treating it almost like genetics at the point. Would make for a good main/side story if a fourth game ever comes.

    I wonder why there aren't any witcher schools in Skellige. Like, the bear school might be, but who knows, it's never confirmed. The environment is perfect for witchers; Skelligers like and respect witchers, Skellige is full of druids, which are specialized in mutagens and herbs, so they could perform witcher trials better and more successfully and maybe even make the first female witchers(though maybe cat school made some already, as they accepted women as candidates...but we never hear of any female survivors of witcher trials, so who knows). Not only that, but Skellige is also full of dangerous monsters, so it'd also be perfect for practical witcher training. And since everyone in Skellige is a warrior, even women, witchers could be trained better in pure sword fighting, too. They could probably even hold official positions as the king's or jarls' personal guard, since we can clearly see Skelligan leaders like the company of witchers. Maybe there's a reason behind why there ain't any confirmed witcher schools in Skellige, but at least with what I know, it seems like a pretty annoying plot hole :/

    • @ProperBird
      @ProperBird  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this is a weird question, but i recently started to read the witcher books and i really like when someone read out loud. So you just can follow the text and I really like your voices, don't know but I do. So my question is if you could read the books out loud. I know you can find videos where someone does that but their voices are so annoying. And I know it would take along time but I just wanted to ask :)

      I'm actually quite certain they could sue me for just putting the whole book online unfortunately. ^^;

    Proper Bird how do you think Empresses Ciri of Nilfgaard will influence the global attitude towards witchers and nonhumans. I imagine she could provide a great environment for a GRAND witcher academy, providing funding and institutionalized hunts. Other Kingdoms might try to replicate its success if it works.

    I don't believe that Geralt of Rivia died or that he remains dead, I remember it being mentioned that when Geralt was wounded by the kid with a pitchfork that Ciri ported Yennifer and Geralt to a place where apple trees bloomed eternal all the while Yennifer was desperately tending to his wounds but he never died in scenes described.

      In short Geralt and Yennefer reside on the Isle of Apples - the Avalon.

      Basically "to go where the appletrees bloom" means death in the Witcher world. It was left vague enough for CDPR to put a twist on it but I'm somewhat convinced that Sapkowski at least wanted them to die together and remain in their version of heaven at that point. Speculation on my part though of course.

      The Witcher Saga is hugely inspired by arthurian legends. Most events, characters et cetera are based on them. Ciri is the Holy Graal, Yennefer quite obviously is an archetype of Guinevere and partially Morgan Le Fay. And so on...
      When Geralt dies, everyone all feel the smell of apples, the fog appears. Geralt and Yen are taken away on the boat, just like King Arthur when he fell in battle. So I think that Geralt and Yennefer are quite literally in Avalon.
