True but fact is Its not thank we cant travel its the fact that we dont want to travel we have no interest in what life is like outside of SA ... Why would any self respecting, self loving south African leave greener pastures for overseas?
Many people complain about the same thing when they move. It's really. I hope our government can fix other issues in our country because we love it here. Like you said, African people are just different. I remember this one American who came to SA asked me why do I call my neighbour aunt or uncle if we are not related? I had to explain in Africa it's a respectful thing to do, you can call your elders aunt, or dad even if they are not.
2:43 I am a white South African, and I can't agree enough with the family mentality. Many times when I've been distressed in public or needed help, there was always someone passing by, no matter the race, who would stop and ask me what is the matter and genuinely try to solve my problem in that moment, even when they were clearly on their way somewhere. It's a beautiful thing
As a South African that love travelling to other countries. I can never leave this country. South Africa is home I can't live without biltong, snoke fish, mielies and milk tart and not forgetting braai 😔
Weee while south african whites don't want us blacks in suburbs they want us in our poor world of townships and villages, I'm from here I people talk about is so beautiful but me and other we've never taste this beauty they talking about cause we in our dirty poor villages total different south africa.
I've been saying this for years. South Africans love fellow Africans. We really do. We just hate arrogance, law breakers and people hate us. We hate crime sooo much from whoever South African or not.
I lived as South African expat in Lonfon for nearly 20 years and was very much integrated a part of the African expat community, which was a great opportunity for me to get to know Africans from all over. I returned to South Africa, actually felt "called" to come, to incredible hardship and struggle. But I still swoon over the warmth and lovingness of the people. I fell seriously ill and had multiple incidents as result of passing out in public and things like that and, of course, experiencing South African public health vs the UK NHS (before I immigrated I had a good job with private medical, which in SA at the time was outstanding) but have been treated wonderfully (though people have said I was lucky for my area). I turned blind from all the sickness and could rave over the effort they went to to get me special glasses. I am absolutely convinced it would never have happened in the UK. I'm a bit older than you, because many of my friends (Africans) are still there, however, even if they were younger, visiting is difficult with London being so big. I'd love to talk to you more, though obviously it'd be a mission to swop out contact details on an open forum like YT so I see it as an impossibility. I would be understanding however of many of the difficulties you have to go through now. I did find initially the Afro-Caribbeans treated me incredibly well as lonely expat. What I found both interesting and endearing about London expats was, everybody considered me as "black" (African) which might be why the Caribbeans put out such care to me. Shortly I befriended a Xhosa girl from South Africa who was a new expat too at my office and I suppose through her I got into the African expats, as looking back, I was the only white person there. It gets better with time, you know I still miss the wet and dark Christmasses, but I agree with you about the people of South Africa. When your little one starts attending school you'll soon be able to make friends with other mums. Also I've always had a church with a Nigerian pastor. They have a better perspective of how being an African expats doesn't neccessarily mean you've arrived in Utopia, as the British often mistakenly think. You want to pass out in a shopping mall here vs England to see how extra lovely and caring people here are. Good luck.❤
You did well to find another SA'n and other African communities and found things to do. We're not meant to be islands. I go to church too here is SA and I have this huge circle of friends because of it. Life is boring without human interaction 😢 The spirit of ubuntu(I am because you are) in South Africa, may be what keeps people so warm. From petrol attendants to waiters there are smiles galore. Strangers greet me all the time here in SA. Should I travel the world, I would still love to retire in SA.
aaah, my heart is soo sore, come back to South Africa, your husband can stay behind, we will look after you. Come back. I have lots friends who are in UK, they are crying all the time.
We are South African's 🇿🇦 in the UK 🇬🇧 aswell and it's important to build a community outside your family.. Those mommy groups they have mentioned and school runs thats how you make friends. The loneliness is truly crazy here, especially if you don't have a community you can interact with physically. Hopefully we can try to interact and see how it goes.
Try getting supplements, like vitamin D and B12( B vitamins), many Africans struggle psychologically in europe/the west because the food is lacking in vitamins and they do not get enough sun because of always being indoors and working. It might help balance out your mood.
South Africa is a very small country with a lot of problems. Can South Africans be given a chance to rebuild their country please. There’s too many foreigners. I hope you are able to build a good life in the UK. Failing which, you can always go back to Cameroon.
You guys are just so rude! And before you go off on a wrong tangent, just know I’m also South African. I also studied in the UK. The day I finished my last exam paper (around 12:00), same day I got onto the 19:00 flight, and came back home. I missed SA!
Be nice to her. She is appreciating at least. She wasn't there for crime like others do. Cameroonians in general are not a headache. I kind of love them.

Wellcome to Europe. Living in Germany 30yrs. I did not come o make friendship. The Europeans mind their own Business. Find a Hobby, Work, Learn schooling. We African are very loud an talking too much. This is the difference between Europeans and Africans. That is why they are developed educated.
Hey honey, I know exactly what you are on about. I am a South African too and i have been living here for over 30yrs. Circumstances have kept me here for this long, I still miss home, the people , the neighbours, food the lot. I think the feeling of loneliness here is driving us crazy.
I feel you. UK is so so wrong for me. I nearly went mad, went in & out of depression every 2 to 3 months. The best decision i did was to start my studying again ,thanks to online. Life here is like you're under witness protection,no friends or family. Family don't even check on you unless they want UK money that grows on trees. I've reset my priorities now to hiding my face in work , studying & gym. Nothing else here makes sense for me. It's like an alien world that we used to watch on TV. Don't be deceived by the free education for kids here oh,it comes at a very high cost ,if you know what i mean. School run for a 10 yr old is unheard of in SA. Our children are independent back home ,we just organise transport for them, thats all. All that is stripped away when they come here. Weather is the worst depressing thing. Let's study & go back my dear. Home is best
Sis hold on, it's not easy..try to make friends with other Africana of possible. This is coming from someone who grew up in the UK and later on in life made SA their home.
I am now in the Uk and I always pray for the Nation of South Africa . It hosted me for nearly 15 years, and of course, as humans there will be always clashes with a few individuals who do not represent SouthAfrica as a Nation.
Im a South African . We moved to Canada in 2019. Luckily for us, we have a community that we get together as families, but my neighbor of 5 tears, we don't know even their names.

Hi Stephanie, I think I know exactly what you're going through. My kids are older now so I can tell you it gets better, with time. It will be a bit different when they get to Kindergarten as they will make friends and get invited to birthdays and staff, you'll find ppl who maybe in the same situation as you, whom you can talk to or who knows places you can go to. And in your case, atleast the language is not a barrier! So better times ahead for sure. Id say youre doing well because youre talking about it, you have plans as oppossed to falling into deppression by yourself. You'll definitely find your tribe, in the meantime enjoy those little humans because times moves fast as well ❤. Be patient with yourself. Let him take the kids to the park and you stay home, put on a mask bust some music and dance yourself silly and eat snacks! Whatever...its waaay early, youre still home sick, culture shock and all that jazz. Youre going through so many changes, new mommy, married life, new surrounding. Love and light ❤.
You will have to very sure about that. I have been to there, we were a group of +/- 30 individuals ( 4 moved with their family). The families are all still there with few individuals, I think about 6. The rest is back. We were all in accounting profession and it easier to get employment with decent pay (at least above average salaries there). To be honest as South Africans, we don’t know what it like to be a foreigner and its tough or very tough. I can’t list one by one what you will need to consider before moving but I think a detailed assessment would be helpful. I do however encourage it if you still young ( at least younger than 25) and if not maybe as family, they seem to have better odds. Good luck to you

I unfortunately a lot of SA people do not get a chance to travel so it’s hard to understand life outside SA. Don’t worry some of us do understand and are with you in heart ❤️. We love you and stay strong, you can always come back when you want🥰🥰🥰🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
True but fact is Its not thank we cant travel its the fact that we dont want to travel we have no interest in what life is like outside of SA ... Why would any self respecting, self loving south African leave greener pastures for overseas?
South Africa will always be your home
Many people complain about the same thing when they move. It's really. I hope our government can fix other issues in our country because we love it here. Like you said, African people are just different. I remember this one American who came to SA asked me why do I call my neighbour aunt or uncle if we are not related? I had to explain in Africa it's a respectful thing to do, you can call your elders aunt, or dad even if they are not.
Sorry for your experience, sis😢 I'm glad you enjoyed your stay on our country though 🇿🇦
Thanks😊
2:43 I am a white South African, and I can't agree enough with the family mentality. Many times when I've been distressed in public or needed help, there was always someone passing by, no matter the race, who would stop and ask me what is the matter and genuinely try to solve my problem in that moment, even when they were clearly on their way somewhere. It's a beautiful thing
As a South African that love travelling to other countries. I can never leave this country. South Africa is home I can't live without biltong, snoke fish, mielies and milk tart and not forgetting braai 😔
I'm South African we got all those things our African nationals have open shops and butchers u get them everywhere
Afrikaneers. Amabhunu
And go outside South Africa n eat Casava, bananas. Sorry even for me
Weee while south african whites don't want us blacks in suburbs they want us in our poor world of townships and villages, I'm from here I people talk about is so beautiful but me and other we've never taste this beauty they talking about cause we in our dirty poor villages total different south africa.
I've been saying this for years. South Africans love fellow Africans. We really do. We just hate arrogance, law breakers and people hate us. We hate crime sooo much from whoever South African or not.
We South Africans are very accommodating but some of the people from the continent are taking advantage of our friendliness
Nice to see you appreciate SA that's all want respect
Hope to see you back
@@koketsok7391 Always SA is my second home❤️
Life is boring without human interaction 😢
The spirit of ubuntu(I am because you are) in South Africa, may be what keeps people so warm. From petrol attendants to waiters there are smiles galore. Strangers greet me all the time here in SA. Should I travel the world, I would still love to retire in SA.
@@phandapanda9644 Yes. My Xhosa GF used to say, "here's no ununtu". ♥

We are South African's 🇿🇦 in the UK 🇬🇧 aswell and it's important to build a community outside your family..
Those mommy groups they have mentioned and school runs thats how you make friends.
And all you have to do is make time and effort to meet up with others or catch up over the phone cause time also moves fast.
You are a new mommy you should not be stressed, take that advice from at Akhonanjara they say their church is very welcoming.Yho South Africa is soo welcoming more especially if you don't have ill intent.Keep well mntase
That’s right
South Africa is truly welcoming but other Countries are spoiling it🤦🏽♀️
Come back to South Africa 🇿🇦 neh don't worry
I can relate to everything you mentioned in this video. Myself, I'm a Kenyan who moved to the Netherlands almost a year now and live with my family. Amd sure thing, it can get tough especially in terms of loneliness and cultural differences. Hang in there, you're not alone. When kids start school, I'm told it gets better. My older child goes to school, and dropping him and picking him up keeps me busy. Plus, I just began this channel to keep me busy as well. Hopefully thing will get better for us.

My Sister. Oh, South Africa ❤ you. Came back, if you can. I hope things will be better.
South Africa is good , it's my second home. I love South Africa ❤😊
Thank you for sharing your story hey. Sad but also slightly comforting to have someone to relate to on this level. I'm a South African currently living in the UK. The loneliness is truly crazy here, especially if you don't have a community you can interact with physically. Hopefully we can try to interact and see how it goes.
Sure sis 🙏🏽😊
Try getting supplements, like vitamin D and B12( B vitamins), many Africans struggle psychologically in europe/the west because the food is lacking in vitamins and they do not get enough sun because of always being indoors and working. It might help balance out your mood.

South Africa is a very small country with a lot of problems. Can South Africans be given a chance to rebuild their country please. There’s too many foreigners. I hope you are able to build a good life in the UK. Failing which, you can always go back to Cameroon.
@@CitizenB5139 in good faith brah🙏🏽
@CitizenB5139 very true, let her stick there. We have our own problems and are trying to sort out our GNU. Let that one stick there.
@@LillisMThey are so rude unnecessarily, she did not say anything negative. I wish as South Africans we can learn to tackle our real problems. The fact that this Lady is another country is proof enough that she did things right. If you want to come back Sis please do.
I so wish Nigerians were like your family. You're always to come back.
Wellcome to Europe. Living in Germany 30yrs. I did not come o make friendship. The Europeans mind their own Business. Find a Hobby, Work, Learn schooling. We African are very loud an talking too much. This is the difference between Europeans and Africans. That is why they are developed educated.
You're making sense.
Cultures differ.
Africans want to greet and ask how is the family
Germans don't gossip at all. They are focused.
Hey honey, I know exactly what you are on about. I am a South African too and i have been living here for over 30yrs. Circumstances have kept me here for this long, I still miss home, the people , the neighbours, food the lot. I think the feeling of loneliness here is driving us crazy.
Go to a pentecostal church. You will feel at home there
@@rbee2062 wow thanks very much.
I have to start gym soon too I guess it will reduce my loneliness
Sis hold on, it's not easy..try to make friends with other Africana of possible. This is coming from someone who grew up in the UK and later on in life made SA their home.
I am now in the Uk and I always pray for the Nation of South Africa . It hosted me for nearly 15 years, and of course, as humans there will be always clashes with a few individuals who do not represent SouthAfrica as a Nation.

If you are not strong mentally you will break down
You will have to very sure about that.

I have lived in UK 🇬🇧 for nearly two decades. Its true sister. Do you have a passion? If you do follow it .through it might not be financially profitable just do it like gardening, sewing knitting . Cooking etc. Take your babies out to the park or stroll every day if you can . Do something creative. Network with other young mothers. Maybe it might help. African is cociable but economically crap. I hope you settle comfortably in the UK because as a country it will be one of the last to remain standing anyway. Good luck sister
