This is why Florida is gonna prove everyone wrong. The national media is way too low on the Florida Gators

I was pleasantly surprised by this episode. I wasn't sure how you were going to handle the interactions with Max Chadwick, in part because I didn't know how he was going to come off or respond to questions about some of the questions you raised yesterday. But in fact he didn't appear at all arrogant, snotty, or anything like some of the "I'm a national EXpert!" knobs that are out there. Instead he presented his positions, explained why and wherefore, and seemed open to hearing your input. At the same time, rather than attack him from the beginning (go-for-the-throat), you were respectful, genuinely curious, and open to what he had to say. At the same time, you did provide some information, positions, or perspective that he might lack from a national perspective. And he said at the ehd that you know more about this program than he does, which I thought was quite a good compliment as well as an indication that he seems to be trying to do the best job he can rather than rest on his laurels, or position. I have to admit that I was impressed by his response to why they might be better than some of the other national commentators - data. From the time I learned about the strengths of an empirical approach, I've been a huge fan of relying on data, and as such, collecting and using as much data as possible when evaluating... anything. Otherwise, what do people rely on? Opinions? Emotional, hormonal "feelings" about how things are, or ought to be? All that only pulls someone's chances of being right about anything right in the dumpster. Oops. Sorry about the soapboxing-nerd outburst. Anyway, good show. I ended up actually liking, or at least appreciating Max Chadwick when I expected to be throwing things at the screen. The one thing I didn't understand was, with all the data available, how he considered Mr. George a really good guard. Not to beat up on Mr. George, because as you've pointed out, as a pulling run blocker he was a force rather than a farce, and he may well have been a victim of poor coaching (that never seemed to learn from errors and mistakes to change what they were doing, over and over and over...). Anyway, you did an excellent job (re)establishing your expertise and professionalism. Ultimately, it was good to see how someone from the outside views the Gators, and was another example of being educated and entertained - not something one gets with most other "expert" shows.

He also missed that new transfer LB "Pup" will upgrade the linebacker position. Addition by subtraction at LB. Watch out for the two new 4 star freshman LBs.

      Denson>Hill

      Turner/Douglas/Bridges>Mitchell

This guy must have gotten a master degree from Pate State with his overhyping of Miami.
Their OL isn’t proven at all. Maiuga had a solid freshman year vs poor competition but nothing out of this world. Samson was far behind Maigua. Their OL ranking is based off their HS star rating.
What’s so dominant about their DL? They have holes at the DT position and their secondary is a complete unk commodity.
But like lots of media since 2004, every off-season Miami is Back and going to do big things. Then they do nothing

Keep Napier & save 25 million buyout fee. Keep Lagway, Mccray and top WRs for 2025. Buy more top talent with the saved 25 million

The CB who left could not tackle. He saw the writing on the wall and left. Replacement CB will be stronger. Safety position now is deep.

I'm usually pretty optimistic about UF football but this year I am going to be more reserved. Specially after the dreadful season we had last year. Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about the coaching changes/additions (Chatman, Harris, and Roberts) and can definitely see the positive culture being formed. But I'm afraid that all that won't be enough. I know we have an improved OLine, hopefully overall better D line, better coached secondary and better LBs but with this schedule it would be daunting for any team to win 7-8 games.

He is not on the hot seat. He will be the coach in 2025. They knew what they gave him when he came in and knew it would be at least a 3 year rebuild to set them up for the future. Give him time like FSU gave Norvel.

I 💯 agree with @Desertgata. This guy Max is basing his thoughts off of what the media is saying. All these teams that are supposed to be so good has went through some changes in the off-season. No one is looking at those facts. Most of them lost a ton of experience in the draft and the portal. I do think we have a pretty well stacked team. Maybe not playoff winnable but we should not be slept on. I do also believe that Billy and the whole gators team and gators nation will silence a lot of critic's and haters. Hey Max, I've got 5 words for you.... "Watch that GATOR bite son". And to the rest of the critic's.. Stay out of the swamp, that GATOR bite is real. Go GATORS

There has been so many years teams come in with high win predictions and just flop and along with injuries, no one knows how good teams really are until they play the first game. I think gators definitely can win atleast 7 games this year if not 9. Gators are starting to load up just takes a few great recruiting classes and our transfer class was pretty damn good with proven players who’ve played high quality football. The Florida gators are starting to wake up as a program and the rest of the country should start getting scared!!! Go gators!!! 🐊🐊🐊🐊🧡💙🧡💙

Only thing gators need to worry about is Miami. Take it one game at a time and we have plenty of time to prepare and I know the swamp will be lit august 31st and so will the gators. We are so motivated and improved, the gators are ready!!

Ron Roberts we’ll be the next HC of Florida. The administration understands that billy has done a fair job at recruiting and wanted to establish a strong candidate fail safe now so we don’t risk losing so much talent when billy is gone. Billy is a good recruiter, he doesn’t develop well, terrible play caller and clearly not a winner. The fact the Florida is at the point where we’re just hoping to make a bowl as the standard is a clear sign of how far we’ve fallen. It’s sad so many people make so many excuses for Billy but wanted Mullen fired who actually won way more with way less talent and poor recruiting.

You don't know what you're saying or history if you think Billy can't recognize/develop talent or is a winning coach. He had a 41-11 record at Lousiana. You can say "wElL that's G5 nOt PoWeR 5" all you want...winning is winning and coaching doesn't change, what changes is the level of talent you have, financial resources, and the strategy you employ based off the conference you joined. If Billy couldn't develop talent then how does O'Cyrus Torrence a kid he recruited/developed at Lousiana who immediately comes with him to Florida instantly becomes our best OT, First Team All-American, and NFL draft caliber talent that year. Let me hear your excuse for that. Or what about Montrell Johnson? Trevor Etienne? Ricky Pearsall? Graham Mertz? Tre Wilson? Shemar James?
Billy inherited a dumpster fire from Mullen who had toxic culture, non-compatable players, and no foundation. And if you think just because Mullen was "winning" excused everything else then please never run a long-term business because short-term success at the expense of toxicity and employee compatibility are not the answer. And Mullen won because he had elite talented kids that he never recruited, most of those players were recruited by McElwain. Mullen's recruting classes had the worst NFL draft percentage in Florida history by the time those players were draft eligible. You can question Billy's GameDay decision-making and play calling at times but know your facts before questioning his ability to develop.

This guest is a nerd who doesn’t know ball, I’m all for someone being pessimistic but even trying ti say 5 wins is over achieving for a top 15 roster when you look at composite recruiting ranking

Lol the dude is basically saying 2-10 is on the table. Boggles my mind how people are so high on these teams that we play when a lot of them have had so much turnover. LSU losses a heisman qb, no problem beating UF in the swamp. Miami and UF literally have the same amount of talent but Miami is “loaded” gtfo

Dameon George fan at G.. sometimes people say things that lose credibility more than they say things that gain credibility. woulda been a perfect opportunity to double down on the 2 guaranteed wins take. but instead we identify our worst lineman in a brand new position as a positive. 🤨

What bugs me is the LSU love. Their defense was terrible! The only reason they didn't have the same record as Florida was the offense. Now, they lose a Heisman winner and two top receivers, and everyone still thinks they will be a top 15 team. That's crazy to me!

Billy just needs to win football games. He has a 33% win percentage against power 5 competition. I see another sub .500 season this year. There are some winnable games, but Billy’s proven track record of mismanaging game day situations gives little confidence in his ability to win until he can prove otherwise.

Firing Billy is what's best for the program. He is not a good coach and even if he had taken over at Bama, he would never win an SEC championship let alone a national title - I promise you that. His ceiling is capped at middle-of-the-pack SEC team. Being afraid of losing Lagway cannot be an excuse we give to keep a mediocre coach. This sounds backwards, but I think UF needs to self implode this season so there's no way he keeps his job and we can finally move on. Before anyone tries to claim I'm not a true fan - wanting long-term success at the price of short-term failure does not make me not a fan. It just means I'm more realistic and able to see the bigger picture than you. I'm not here to celebrate at best 8-4 seasons under a subpar coach.

@@williambyrd2149 This is what I mean: Say Billy goes 5-7 this year and we keep him. Next year we go, say 7-5. Project out for 5 years and the best we get is maybe 8-4. Never bad enough to fire but never great.
Now instead if we start out bad and drop a few early games and we end up canning Billy. It would be better at year 5, assuming we pick up a good coach, than sticking with someone who has proven he is incompetent.
Ohio State is widely seen as the most talented team this year - if Billy was the coach of that team I promise you they'd lose at least 2-3 games.
