A DAY WITH CHINO HILLS HIGH SCHOOL 2018
Grid Book Percussion spends a full rehearsal day with Chino Hills High School Percussion Ensemble from the first morning block to the final run-through of the show.

I am utterly astounded by how awesome and locked in these students are! I'm left feeling so inspired 1st off as a student(even in my old age) and 2nd as an instructor myself. This was absolutely amazing!
i'm always blown away by this ensemble, really great to be able to see what they do at their daily practice. very cool and inspiring

I was once a USMC D&B Corps drummer and also a USMC Band drummer. Kudos to all: instructors and players! Few recognize and appreciate the time and dedication it takes for excellence!

My body is ready
What blows my mind is how all these instructors can pick up on all these small inconsistencies. Honestly every rep sounded the same to me. That's why I could never teach a group of this caliber. I wouldn't know how to help them improve. This happened at the last school I thought at. I basically taught the kids everything I knew, and they got really good. So when they asked me what they could improve on, I honestly didn't know what to tell them. This is why I don't go teach drum corps or any independent world groups. They all have reached a level that I feel I have yet to accomplish.
I'm not complaining (at all), but I've noticed all the "a day with" videos are uploaded WAY after the season is over. Is there a reason for this? Or do they just take a long ass time to edit lmao

Yeah Mark has said that it takes a while to edit the videos because of the raw amount of footage. I’ve taken over an hour to edit a minute long video, and the editing workflow is not a quick thing. Especially when creating this quality of video.

Towards the end of the show, 2 flub players join the basses and 1 joins the snares
Being one of the Toms turned basses I can say that Im almost certain there were 7...cant be too sure tho 🤷♂️

the flubs play their "main show instrument" for warmups but they play flubs for the show (until they switch at the end).
