At 53, I retired, and now I'm in my early 60s. Many of the folks who pushed back against me couldn't quite get the idea of not working if it wasn't necessary. I considered my life to be in phases. Even though I've worked very hard to get what I have now, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses" in this last phase of life. In my instance, I departed the nation upon my retirement to reside in Latin America. I was able to appreciate my new surroundings and distance myself from all the bad things going on in America. Nobody I know regrets retiring, as far as I can tell.
Nice way to retire. For me, I believe retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My wife and I both spent same number of years in the civil service, she invested through a wealth manager and myself through the 401k. We both still earning after our retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.
It's unfortunate most people don't have such information. I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than a million dollars by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Doesn't matter if the economy is misbehaving; great wealth managers will always make returns.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like *Layan Talia Chokr* who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

If the US was in a similar position, as an American who has served their country I can't imagine it responding much differently than how Israel has. Public sentiment in peacetime and a public in fear of terrorist activity on a daily basis think and behave much differently.

Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006. It was a disaster for both Israel and Lebanon. I don't see this being any different. In anything, Israel will suffer heavier causalities.
Lebanon started all 3 wars. And now they will capitulate and pay the reparations.
The 2006 Lebanon War was no doubt humiliating for the IDF. But the issues it had don’t plague it anymore. The IDF’s performance in Gaza and the IAF’s performance in Lebanon thus far prove that.
Israel agreed to a ceasefire under UN 1701 resolution, which was a mistake. Lebanon never tried to adhere to this, not the UN forces stationed there for 20 years. Now, no UN resolution will suffice. Only full capitulation and paying reparations in land and money.
