I love how Auntie Mame takes an instant dislike to this person but she just keeps on SMILING. 😃😊🙂
It's how she manages to resist saying how much she can't stand Gloria. 😉
I really must remember to use that technique sometime. 😉
I've also just now realized that Patrick and Pegeen and their future son are not the only ones who are lucky that Patrick married Pegeen and not Gloria.
Auntie Mame is lucky too. 😉

It was hilarious when Auntie Mame suddenly needed to take a drink. 😉

Sharp observers will recognize the "ping pong ball" as having been "borrowed" for "Trading Places". Other trivia: Joanna Barnes, who played "Glory", also played "Vicki" the gold digger in the original version of the Parent Trap, later playing the gold digger's mother (Also named Vicki) in the remake!

LBF522 Top drawer is a veddy veddy exclusive Brit term.So the ultra snobbish narrow minded unintelligent Colonial twying veddy hard to show how ' culchawed' she was,how well educated just showed herself as a brainless twit.In the book Patrick falls for her supposedly ' Refained' looks and mistakes it as Class. But she is just a babbling bourgeoise female Babbitt. The women see through her and loathe her self complacency accordingly. And owww what a painfully affected accent.

Vera Charles (Coral Browne) stays in the film from start to finish, and is fantastic, but in a two and a half hour movie, the introduction of Peggy Cass and Joanna Barnes works like a refreshing booster shot, making the movie seem not the least bit long. The film is a flawless mix of comedic hijinx and warm poignancy and Mame Dennis is the crown jewel of Rosalind Russell's career.

Absolutely right! I read that when Roz opened in this on Broadway, one of the visitors to her dressing room was Lucille Ball saying 'I MUST play this part!'. Better she had done this than the musical. (Still would have been miscast but at least we would have been spared her 'singing'.)

Sadly in my days as a bookstore manager I did have people & business come in to spend money on decorative books ( I need leather bound, blue, green, purple, etc. colored books) it doesn't matter what they are. Coffee table books were one thing, but books as mere background decor always left me feeling sullied.
