What a wild build! I hope we see more crazy Boxster builds in the future as people realize what an extraordinary chassis they are for the money (at least for now).
Crazy this popped up on my feed. I have been wanting to take on an exo car project and I have been thinking a boxter would be perfect donor for such a project. Around here you can find older ones for less than 10 k and you could probably make a good bit of that back parting it out.
Other popular car enthusiasts need to review and showcase this. This is amazing! Makes me want to go start stripping my near perfect 986 lol! I know I'd never be able to achieve that though!
How does this have so few views? This is such a neat build and video. BTW maybe just stick with a gopro for internal footage and run the dslr for audio separately and merge the slr audio to the gopro video so you don't ever have focus issues in car.
Thanks, glad you liked it. To be honest, this is the one and only time I've had a focusing issue with the Canon that I use. I prefer the video look of the mirrorless camera to the look of a GoPro.
@@Retromod Yeah the extra depth in lens and color is nice, I've become a fan of dual recording so I at least have some video that is salvageable as sometimes the focus shifts on the A7 I have or something catastrophic happens. What length of lens are you using for those internal shots? Curious now.
This is the only way I could drive one of those!!! Looks crazy fun. But I'd rather do a vette kart but still awesome!! Lot of work in that thing! Porsche and corvettes don't have a good history!! Lol they don't get along very well!
🛠🔩🏆👏👍 First, Retromod, ignore the naysayers and lazy bastards in the comments section who couldn't conceive of, much less build, a street-legal go cart like this. It looks cool, fun, and original. C'mon, everybody, he bought a wrecked Boxster to start with! Retrorod, when on the road you look like you are enjoying the fruition of your hundreds of hours put into this build. I have an old Mazda3 I'm thinking of making into a go cart. I found your video and was inspired!

Yea that’s why I bought mine. Planning to do something wild once the engine inevitably blows up.
Amazing car to ride in. Way to go Dennis. So happy you are getting some recognition for all your hard work.
Very impressive build, and I can say that the fact it now weighs about 2150 pounds is the most impressive part of all. Well done!
The boxster already rides on rails. I'm sure this is amazing to drive.
Dennis. So good. Nice job!
That is really cool.
Would love to see a back to back comparison of this thing and a stock 986.

I agree it needs to be more widely seen.
Well done car! What kind of car battery do you have?
As I look for boxer weight reductions I find my goal 🤣 nice car man!
Uhoh. I shouldn't have seen this.
It's going to haunt me.
Waiting for the first C8 exo.

Its the subs though that make the difference on views or recommended list you have to be popular to get recommended try to find the rotary aw11 video
I was thinking of cutting the chassis behind the seat and then welding a Ariel atom replica chassis
Am going to built my Tahoe 2007 any ideas
Я бы соединил рамку лобового стекла и дугу каркаса за сидениемм в верхней части крыши двумя трубами.
Cool!

It's not a kart it's an exo-car like the ariel atom, sweet build though.
Feel like they should do their homework. The 217hp base model was a 5.4 0-60. Not 6.5 seconds...
Built a boxster dune duggy!
Welp... off to copart I go.
Any chance you have his insta? Does he post about the car?
"Even though he's not an engineer, he went to college for engineering."
"He built it in his garage"
Um...wut?
He studied engineering in college, but does not work as an engineer for his career. Does that make sense?
The execution of this looks like a brick with blue metal fence posts welded to wheels

Thanks for watching. Just to be clear this is not my car, just one that I covered.
More like a 996 cart
a designer this guy is Not!
Should have saved himself the trouble and just remove the body panels from a corvette chassis.
Wrong color. Poorly executed design, looks stupid.
You're so wrong IMO
