ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

My neighbors liked this so much they invited the police to listen
did they also bring the beer keg?
Gold.. Well done sir.
Did the police sacrifice the neighbors to Satan? If not then they weren't really listening to the music.
Hey chip davis that was classic bro.
Good job xD
The Bible really is just a gold mine for heavy metal song writers.
Heavy metal is classical and blues combined with Post-19th century machines.
Right, "Hallowed be thy Name!" Sounds a little like a white-metal Song.

The intro gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME. This song is just something else, a one of a kind for sure, and definitely in my top 5 Maiden songs.
That Album was my first contact to heavy metal in 1982.
From the first to the last song, a Classic......
I loved my painters cap from the time. Wore it till it fell apart
Fun fact: the scream bruce dickinson lets out in the intro of the song is a result of the producer constantly having them do different takes, and in this one bruce was so fed up he let out a howl with so much frustration pushing it he has never been able to properly recreate it.
Yeah, Martin Birch got him to keep singing the first two lines for about four hours (even though he actually stopped recording after about the 3rd take lol) to get Bruce pissed off. He was so frustrated he was throwing chairs around the room and stuff. Eventually it was time for the scream and there was no need for a second take there!
@@User-jk8wq definitely well worth pissing him off lol
When you're so pissed off that you made a masterpiece

Saw them in Calgary September 28, 2023. Master musicians….Murray’s solos were mind blowing and he’s 67 years young. Dickinson can still kill on vocals. Best concert ever and I’ve been to hundreds!,
Being from the era he is from he had to learn his craft. I'm not too surprised about his ability to sing still being top notch. Now you just have to look good and computers do the rest, no soul in music anymore.
Maiden FINALLY nominated in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I know it's an irrelevant ceremony, but it's worth celebrating anyway I think.
UP THE IRONS
Seriously? They should have been there decades ago just because of their 80s albums.
They have to get voted in last year Motörhead and Priest was not voted in
that recognition is in all the wrong ways. at least they finally see what we all have seen.
Some hip hop artist will get it lol
I never.understood the artistic brilliance of Iron Maiden until recently. As a baby Christian at the time this song was released, I was too freaked out by this song. But I've come to recognize Iron Maiden as master storytellers through their music.
That's all it is, and excellent musicians.
They're not just masters storytellers, they're master musicians, master songwriters and master showmen.

When I was a kid we visited my great aunt one day and she said to me ‘go and visit your cousin’. He was 16 and i was 9 or so. I went to his room and he and his buddies were like ‘wtf are you doing here?’ And I said ‘uh your mom said I could hang out’. ‘Oh ok that’s cool,’ was his response. And they were listening to this song - I’d never heard anything like it and was instantly hooked. It’s funny how music does that. I remember that like it was just yesterday and here we are about 40 year later. Anyway my aunt passed away a couple of years ago, my cousin and I are still in touch and i mention this memory to him occasionally and he laughs and says ‘good thing you didn’t catch us smoking weed’. I grew up in this era, and when this album came out it scared the crap out of 95% of the people I knew. I was awe struck. Sacrifice is going on tonight
This can't go on, I must inform the law
Can this still be real or just some crazy dream
But I feel drawn towards the chanting hordes
They seem to mesmerize... can't avoid their eyes
666 the number of the beast
666 the one for you and me
I'm coming back, I will return
And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn
I have the fire, I have the force
I have the power to make my evil take it's course
And just in case someone does not know, the spoken word passage in the beginning is read by English actor Barry Clayton and it quotes Revelation 12:12 and Revelation 13:18.
@@chainmatrix A fun fact - the same actor did the narrative at the start of the titles on the cartoon series "Count Duckula"!
If u typed this all u r a legend
He sounds like the guy from MJ's Thriller.
@@askinni The spoken part of Thriller was done by Vincent Price, a famous horror film actor. I read somewhere that Iron Maiden wanted him to do Number of the Beast, but he wanted too much money. Never mind, I think Barry Clayton did a great job of it!
Happy 41st to this absolute crusher of an album
A metal heart is too hard to be torn apart!❤
Who s here after Senjutsu? 40 years of pure metal. No autotune, no unwanted double bass and no downtuned guitars!!!
And what is wrong with Downtuning the guitar?
Is drop D considered down tuning?
You all hv misunderstanding the point. I meant they were heavy w/o downtuning. I never said it's wrong
Dgus
what's wrong with double bass?
Oh god, the amount of 70's and 80's cheese in these videos. Gotta love it.
+Pnevma Ton'Dason The only cheese here is where your ass should be. No offense ;)
Richard Smith It was a documentary? It was a drama? It was a science film?
All the 40 plus here including me and enjoying this song❤❤❤
This classic album turned 40 years old today on March the 22nd 2022! And it's STILL as amazing today as it was 40 years ago!!! 🤘🤘
You got to be shitting me, I’m just 3 years older than this album, it’s been out as long as Iv been alive it seems impossible when you really think about it that they could create such unique still sounding modern heavy metal as it sounds as new today as it always has done to me it still sounds new & fresh it amazes me they created something that (it’s hard to explain) it sounds as if it had only been released at most 20 years ago if that, the style & sound is still used today in heavy metal, I remember in 90’s my best mate getting me into these I was into Oasis, Travis. Ocean Colour Scene. Paul Weller. Blur. The Verve. Charlatans. The Seahorses. James. Lightning Seeds. Cast. Suede. Space. Republica. Cardigans. Garbage. Catatonia. The Corrs. The Cranberries. Sheryl Crow. Alanis Morrisette. The Bluetones. The Eels. Radiohead. Manic Street Preachers. Pink Floyd. The Who. The Hollies. The Beatles. Then my mate turning me on to this, it opened my mind and told me anything was possible if you had enough passion but I struggled to find my voice back then trying to write songs to stuff he would cine up with in guitar as my voice couldn’t do metal and I’m ok with that, would I love to write metal, he’ll yes but my voice is more suited to punk/blur style/Lynyrd Skynyrd rock ballads so at least he gave me hunger to learn guitar through these bands as I wanted to write riffs like this but in my key and less metal for my voice and more rock ballad proving that you really do have to have, one hell of a voice in a natural high key, mine is more suited to key of C & G where as metal like this your voice naturally needs to be in A or D and I remember seeing an article where along with Manic Street Preachers Iron Maiden telling folk, young writers, if you need guitar lessons give up now, so I taught myself after work at ASDA I’d go back to my fiancés at time (Michelle) and just fiddle with two chords at tgst time I didn’t even know they were called chords but from fiddling in trying out new ideas just from two chords finger licking to strumming I bought iron maiden, Metallica (as I fucking adored Reloaded) tablature books and soon it just came natural to me like s duck to water I couldn’t believe it (the lad who gave his first electric red fender away Christmas box at about 10 years old away for a Sega Master System lol) to being able to play these songs then turned to Beatles as it was obvious my voice wouldn’t fit with Key of A power chords then quickly formed a band, started writing epic tunes, Punk/Suede style Rock ballads to having two lads that were just part timers, they only ever wanted to be part timers so when we got signed, whilst playing at local fair, they bloody freaked out and did not want to be in full time band as they were nurses in training and thats how they turned out (I say good for them, they got England through a Pandemic) but left us up shit creek withoot a bloody paddle, so I turned out to writing songs for other bands and found out I was brilliant, ace, epic at hearing just half of a sing by a band to be inspired to write even better songs for tgen I only needed to hear their style a little so I could go from country & western to Pink Floyd to Epic Rick ballads, the easiest style to write to for me was Mumford & Sons Style don’t know if that’s because my actual family name my ancestors came from Scotland and I only live about 25 miles from Border but point I’m getting at is, if you want to be an epic songwriter just because you can’t sing to a certain style or maybe you struggle to understand their style, listen to ss fkn many different styles as you can because then when your humming away to a sing your writing on guitar, lyrics will pop out the air from nowhere leaving you thinking I didn’t just write that, it’s impossible, I couldn’t have come up with those lyrics, well it is, listen to as many styles as you actually love, if you love it, listen to it I love everything from The Carpenters, 60’s, 70’s to Gloria Estefan to Metallica and Pearl Jam to Oasis to Travis to Iron Maiden they gave me hunger to learn guitar so I could write epic riffs, intro riffs, chorus riffs, bridge riffs etc. if you love it, blast it and fkn live it, as my motto I have tattooed on my arm says on a cross,
Imagine it
Dream it
Believe it
Live it
@@christianlennon714 Wow. That was a very long comment. But it's great that Iron Maiden made you start writing songs. They've inspired so many people all over the world for over 4 decades and I hope they continue to inspire people long after they're gone.
Oshe zy!!! Icónico!
