    Excellent.....I traveled out to Fort Davis myself back in June 2023. Loved those Bortle 2 skies !! Was able to shoot southern targets that are difficult for me back home near Galveston Texas.
    good video

      It’s great out there! I got to image Rho Ophiuchi which is also hard to get out here because El Paso’s light pollution dome is roughly south of my location.

      I also was able to image Rho while in Fort Davis. It was totally worth the 9 hour drive for those beautiful Dark Skies. Keep those videos coming. Thank you again@@GeorgeSpacesOut

    Advice, those tightening screws for left/right movement are spring loaded. Just lift them and tuck against the mount to minimize the possible snags....in case you didn't know. Great imaging again.....thumbs up.

    Nice video. The AM 5 will handle your Edge HD with ease. No need to break your back moving that EQ6R around anymore. For peace of mind from tipping, use the counterweight shaft and a weight on the AM5 or put some weight in the tripod bag.

    Nice review 👍🏼. I’m now waiting for your experience with EdgeHD mounted in AM5. Thanks for sharing your views.

      I'm actually gonna try it now that I have the pier extension for the AM5. It’ll make for a great video.

      Have been using the AM5 with and EdgeHD800 for several months now and it works well -- using the pier extension and putting a 20lb rock in the tripod sling its quite stable -- very seeing dependent, but on a good night getting 0.4-0.7' RMS (ASIair numbers) for extended periods with an OAG/asi174 at about 1480 mm FL, and very good imaging results.

      @@smassa3 this is great news! I definitely have this in store for a future video, but it looks like monsoon season is finally coming around my region so the weather has been restrictive these last couple of weeks.

    Beautiful image.... Thanks for sharing. I've been using an old Sky-Watcher EQM-35 for years and thinking of upgrading it to an AM3 mount...

      I have an EQM-35 that I stopped using because it was hit-or-miss with the tracking. The DEC motor also gave out after two years. An AM3 would be a great upgrade.

      @@GeorgeSpacesOut I did tear it down a few years ago to lube and adjust the gearing to tighten it up and it did make a difference for a bit, but it seems to be back to it's old ways.

    I really like your final image. The way you presented it as a dissolve slide show with nice music is very very pleasing. Your dialog is professional and clear. Great skills for presenting. Maybe look into teaching Astro at your local community college?

    Very nice work! This mount is on my list. Thanks for the vid.

      No problem. Thanks for watching! You now have another option with the AM3 but as I like to say, get a mount that you won't grow out of, but grow into. If you have multiple scopes or plan on going bigger in the future, then AM5.

    Great image. My AM5 is due in about a month. Hope it does as good a job with my rigs. Clear skies.

      Thank you, John! I’m confident it will do well. Best of luck and clear skies!

    Nice video George! I've been imaging with a 90mm triplet in my backyard under bortle 6 skies with an EQ6R Pro mount. I'm only an hours drive from bortle 2 but don't want to drag that beast of a mount into the field, so I've never made the trip. I'm thinking the AM5 will be a good solution for a travel mount and I'll keep the EQ6R Pro for my yard. I'm also planning on getting an 8" newtonian and can use the heavy mount for this scope.

      @GeorgeSpacesOut  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I’m almost a year into ownership and it’s been so much better as far as portability. The EQ6 would be perfect for the Newtonian, too. I still can’t trust my AM5 with my EHD 8 😬

    I could build wooden triangle with clamps to spread and fix legs. In case of instability, you could put 30-40Lb weight on it.
    Did you look guiding numbers in PHD2? I know you see them in ASAir, but it is interesting to see these numbers in PHD2 software to see whether they correspond each other.

    I've been looking at the AM5 and AM3. Why did you select AM5? AM3 is even lighter and could easily carry your present scope combo setup. Thanks and good video.

    • @GeorgeSpacesOut
      @GeorgeSpacesOut  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I selected the AM5 because I wanted a mount that I could grow into and not grow out of. I’ll have the option of using larger OTA’s like my EHD 8.

      @@GeorgeSpacesOut Okay, that makes sense. I have a EHD8 and a William Optics 120 (780mm) which share my EQ6-R Pro mount but once it's setup I can't really move it anywhere. I have to take it apart to do so. I have a Redcat51 that I was looking for a permanent mount that I can easily move around with all the cables and guide scope attached. This should allow me to have two setup running at the same time during those clear nights. Clear skies!

    Nice setup on that AM45. I have GT71 on mine, what do you have?
