2:19 No clue who Rebellion Tees are but pretty sure they don't exist because the R34 GTR 'RHM' is privately owned. This car was built in Australia, New South Wales by B2R Motorsports. From research, makes 1744WHP at roughly 7000rpm (not 2000rpm).
That power figure is off the hub dyno reading I think, the owner is a mad lad gentle giant, car is even more insane in person, it won almost an entire year of tolls racing here in Sydney I believe 😂 and it’s driven on the street
12:30 I for one would love to see Droopycock buy/build a factory five. I drove one with a twin turbo LS once and I swear it changed my fucking life. Not only was it blisteringly fast but it was so beautiful, I felt like the man driving it around. Its on my bucket list to own one just like that
Hey Drew, great video! Your comment about GM cars, and turbos, I believe it was a Oldsmobile from the 60's that hade a 215ci V8, with a turbo. So a Pontiac in the 2000s, wouldn't be surprising. And factory 5 is a kit car, and a good one at that
The Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky both were offered in the base trim with a 2.4l Ecotec NA making 177 bhp. However, they were also offered with a 2.0l Direct injected (first production DI engine for GM) Turbocharged 4cy with 260 bhp. These were the Solstice GXP and Sky Red Line models. GM later put this engine in the Cobalt SS and HHR SS. GM also offered a factory tune that upgraded MAP sensors and boosted power to 290BHP while retaining the factory warranty and was 50 state smog legal. In addition, the 2.0 liter's turbo parts, except for the cold side charge pipe, are direct bolt-ons to the base model 2.4 and is a popular upgrade for base model owners with bigger injector and opening up the relief for the oil return line that is cast into the 2.4 block..
Yoo that’s my srt8 😂😂 glad it got to make an appearance on such a sick video, I’ll def fix the rear fitment & take a pic of the new build sheet before i send it in again
I think the Solstice was available with a turbo. The R34 was without a doubt my favorite. I’ve been with the same company for almost 22 years and I’ve recently been promoted and I’m sitting on a nice bonus and I’m thinking about treating myself and getting a R34 GTR
i’m building an 800hp engine for my brz. IAG block and heads. i’m using the stock head gasket, recommended by IAG. the 3/8 head studs stretch under high boost and cause the headgasket to leak, the OEM headgasket is actually the best option available. moral of the story - Subaru head gaskets are pretty damn good, and the amount misinformation is pretty incredible.
I’ve always liked the fc and mkIII a lot better than their more popular counterpart. My cousin had an 88 fc turbo 2 in high school in the late 90s and his dad had a 89 mkIII Supra he bought in 95. I grew up with a lot of 80s sports cars. My other uncle had a 87 iroc z
Agreed , I personally like the fb but only cuz its the og ... just like skyline tbh my fave is I believe 76 was the body style I like don't quote cuz I believe they went through 4 og body styles at 70s and 80s but either way I am right there with ya , I love the old school boxy looking whips but with a new age power plant .... sick stuff fam ... peace and love bro keep it rad stay safe and build on l8z fam
The base model solstice came with the 2.4 Ecotec, while the Performance oriented Solstice GXP came with the 2.0 Ecotec LNF Turbo from the Cobalt SS, with 260HP. There was also a Factory Performance tune available that bumped the power from 260 HP to 290 HP
This is easily the best subscriber build battle to date and it's not even close. Can't wait until I'm done with my next build and then I can hopefully win a round.
How did you not know the GXP was turbocharged? It had the same 260hp turbo Ecotec that the late Cobalt SS had (but RWD). It basically tied the S2000 CR around VIR.
Cooling duct is OEM on the e36 chassis cars to cool the back of the alternator. Doesn't matter if it's an m50, s50, m52, or s52. They all have the duct. That M3 needs an m50 intake manifold. m52/ s52 manifold has smaller runners. Okay for low end trq but it runs out of steam in the top end. Apex wheels are nice and light plus cheap. Lots of guys that track them use the Apex ARC-8 or Kosei K-1's cuz they're cheap and lightweight. I believe the K-1's are 15-16 lbs for a 17" x 8.5" IIRC. That Dinan intake cost a small fortune because everything Dinan is overpriced. Although it is a true CAI, it's only a 3." They're are more gains to be had running 3.5" piping/ filter. Best cheap CAI is the Cosmos Racing 3.5," or just make your own, because it's extremely simplistic, and could be made from scrap piping/ coupler/ clamps/ filter of your choice. The foam style ones like ITG or Uni-Filter flow and filter superior over the cotton gauze type, similar to K&Njk, and plenty of others. The foam ones are definitely easier to clean and oil. Jim Conforti (Turner Motorsport,) uses the foam ITG in their short ram CAI. Pretty nice piece, it's a short-ram style with a heat shield. Looks like a Racing Dynamics strut brace too, but there are a couple other brands that look similar and copy that design. Bav auto is one that comes to mind off hand.
