    Really nice to see this. I've had my steel breech, scope, mounts and other stuff ready to fix up my 362. Just waiting for the right time. I believe you about 900 FPS. I will have to get into some different barrels and a moderator and other cool stuff soon as well.

      @@gwhitfield4239 I have a nice collection of different pellets to try out soon when I move to a place where I can really use my air guns a lot more. Just to get your thoughts on this .. regarding those pellets with the alloy tips and the plastic sabot skirts, which some say are the best for penetrating targets you are trying to destroy (I like shooting old toys or RC stuff etc or anything that comes apart lol .. aside from accuracy shooting of targets) .. and there are maybe 2 kinds like this for .22 and maybe 3 or 4 kinds in .177. All have tips that are harder than lead, alloy, brass mostly and then have a plastic skirt which in all cases is just a smooth cylinder with a slight flair on the back end to grab rifling, but none of these have the metal really hitting the rifling in the breech much. The plastic touches the rifling minimally and the alloy or brass touches not at all or hardly at all. Sooo my question is, do you think these can damage a barrel? (My own opinion is not much or not at all, with perhaps some plastic residue left behind.) People say those can damage barrels, but these are not expensive barrels anyhow. Crosman Red Flight (.22 cal) is one of them.

      Thanks Lou!.. its poppin'!!..I just put the 362 breech and barrell on the ratcatcher and I dont see any difference in it!... the ratcatcher has a boss valve but it has a stock t/f port now and plastic breech however the stock 362 bolt probe is longer than a stock 2240 bolt probe and it shot thru the 5/8 " cedar board like it was butter too! So I'm pretty happy with what I did. I was hesitant to dismantle the 380.00 ratcatcher I put together and mod the 362, but I'm thrilled with the results of both and cant wait to chrony test and accuracy review on both of them tomorrow..I'm gonna probably show that the optimum barrell length for the 2240 is probably going to be around 20" and that the steel breech and barely longer bolt probe add maybe 15 fps. If that much!..I've got the metal barrel mounts on the 2240 with the CV life 3-9×40 and its a good fit as well. I'm anxious to see what they can do tomorrow!..obviously the advantage of the steel breech is a more stable platform for a scope, but if you get a good set of metal barrel dovetail mounts off ebay they are great for 12 bucks and dont move around on the 2240 with the metal barrel band after you get it tightened down good...goodnight and thanks for your comments Lou!!

    Ebay has a transfer port that fits but has 60 percent increase in flow .
    Also a stronger hammer spring would increase power , I believe it has same parts as the 2240 /1322 except the trigger , Im going to buy one and mod it but my plan is Brass breach also the barrel band on the end is replaceable and had a brass counter part , that and a brass muzzel flip also on ebay and it should look super sharp and unique.

    Thanks for this great video on the mods for the Crosman 362. I think you are the first TH-cam channel to add those mods. That Alaska Guy-Airguns TH-cam channel also did some similar mods that he posted and he added a Grav-Mag. But I dont think he added the longer bolt probe or valve. These are all mods that I plan to do too. So it's great to have someone else who did it mention that there's an increase in power.
    Please post a followup video of a chrony test and accuracy/groupings test and penetration tests. And also please keep a pellet count.
    There have been a lot of mention that the C362 is not accurate. I believe it is due to a dirty barrel. I think once the barrel is properly seasoned the groups will tighten up and the accuracy will improve.

    How does the extended probe contribute to increased velocity?
    Is it due to less air loss??

    • @gwhitfield4239
      @gwhitfield4239  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The extended bolt probe pushes the pellet past the transfer port opening further into the barrel so the skirts dont get bent from the force of the air/co2 pushing it thru the barrell..adds about 17-20 fps. On a crosman 2240. Sometimes the reason for a " flyer" is because the pellet wasnt pushed in past the air hole and the skirt was bent from the force and pushed out the barrel "out of round" so to speak..I've used a small Allen wrench or something bent to push a pellet past the t/f port opening. Thanks for your question I hope I made sense...just woke up and no coffee yet..😅👍

    Hi there! Neat video. I just got my 362 a few days ago. I’m afraid to attempt the steel breach replacement just yet. But it’s pretty darn accurate with 459 mounts and a Simmons 3-9 scope. My question is should I store the pellet gun with a few pumps? I’ve heard it’s good to keep some air in them but not sure about the 362 specifically. Thank you.

    • @gwhitfield4239
      @gwhitfield4239  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I'd keep it pumped up 2x at least...to keep the seals in place and working properly!..thanks for watching and commenting!..don't be afraid to switch the breech, its not difficult. When you get the steel breech it's easier to put it back together because you have a set screw on it to hold the barrel in place...that's half the battle right there. Loosen the tiny screw the bolt slides over first..just loosen it, loosen the sight screw...remove them both. The steel breech should have a longer sight screw than the plastic breech. Line up the barrell in the breech anx tighten the set screw ..then line up the transfer port to the barrel inside the breech, long end of the t/f port goes to the barrel. Short end goes on the valve end.. gently rotate barrell and breech into position. It will "snap" in place and you'll feel it. Start the tiny screw and snug it. Put the rear sight screw in and snug. Finish tighten up the tiny breech screw, and finish tighten rear sight screw. Youre done!! You'll have better accuracy with the steel breech because it allows the scope to be farther towards your eye...

    • @michaelwthalman
      @michaelwthalman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am curious what barrel length gives the highest velocity with standard pumps. I suspect it's somewhere between 18-22in. Possibly start to loose fps beyond that due to friction. I suspect if one over pumps, puts in a weaker valve spring and a stronger hammer spring one might to get more fps....Accuracy though is key, so even with a little speed loss the increase in accuracy is better. This Spring weather has not allowed me to get out and benchrest to stretch my C362 wings. I did have one day where it was ideal to shoot. I shot a 40 shot 1.5in group at 40 yards using 5 pumps and 14.3gr cphps. Which for me is a great group. My gun is stock, except for the steel breech and TKO Ldc. I did bend the trigger sear spring and replace the trigger return spring with a ballpoint pen spring. It reduced the trigger pull by half (and it wasn't bad to begin with). Definitely a very capable gun. I think I will leave my setup of 5 pumps and 14.3gr as is. Had no issues taking the raccoon that was trying to get into my chimney and numerous invasive birds.

      @@michaelwthalman wow that's awesome!! I'm agreeing with you on the barrell length, probably 20".. which is what comes on it stock. I think the best platform build on the 24" barrell is going to be a Hipak and make it a PCP. That's probably going to be where you can get the best results on a 24" barrell. However, I did get about 40 more fps than it was getting stock. I dont think the steel breech adds any fps and the extended bolt probe is iffy at best. Some say 18-20fps but its probably not significant enough without other upgrades to be that beneficial. I think the power valve and the heavy hammer spring and extended bolt probe and boss transfer port all together may be able to exhilarate the 24" barrell..maybe....I'm gonna find out because I have a boss 1322 valve I'm gonna be trying out on a new stock 362 I have coming and I'll compare it in stock form and then with the power valve and see what happens...happy shooting!!

I was going to build a 1320, but with the advent of the 362, it would be crazy not to use this platform. I have seen a few folks using a .25 barrel.
