I watch this performance frequently....and i cry a bit every time. Because it's so rad, top notch musicianship, and because nothing out there exists today like 12Rods. They were a rare gem that still needs to be heard by the masses.
I can't believe this video exists. One of my fave bands from my high school days and I live in South Carolina.....how weird is that. Wish I could have seen them live........but that's life!

Man, I really miss these guys. The most overlooked band ever. They played a show in November of '99 or 2000 at the Double Door in Chicago I shall never forget.
They played Telephone Holiday a long time before it was released...i knew it well from shows at this point and expected it to be on Seperation Anxieties and was surprised that it wasn't.
been listening to these guys a lot with the prince thing....surprised on the rundgren comment about telephone holiday....cuz i like it, and also a huge todd fan
Rundgren did them no favor during the recording of Separation Anxieties. I still enjoy the album, but we can only imagine what could have been if it were produced by someone who gave 2 shits about 12 Rods.
When Todd Rundgren recorded Separation Anxieties, he didn't like Telephone Holiday, and thus they didn't record it (even though they had demoed it for SA)
Rundgren really screwed them over during the recording of Separation Anxieties. They're definitely one of those bands that should have had a better career than what transpired. Fortunately, there are a few fans that churn out some incredible footage of their live performances.

This was one of Chris McGuire’s last performances with them. The Mill City Show advertised here I’m pretty sure was his last show.
