    The big secret to finding great items isn't the brand. It is the quality! I run my hands down the racks and stop when I feel a good fabric, look it up and yep its usually a good sell through rate. Most of my best sales are items from no name brands. Cashmere, Wools, Silk, Organic Cottons Etc. Buy quality and the money will follow.

    To survive in this business, one really has to pivot with the changes and challenges. We've tried doing an all clothing store, but due to high competition, rising thrift store prices, and lack of good items, we have opted to being everything sellers. Some days 90% of our sales are collectibles and hard goods even though our store is about 90% clothing. Also, in our city, Goodwills aren't even an option. Some places like where that couple lives are swamped with high dollar items. We watched one of their videos and they literally walk into a Goodwill and find dozens of great brands. Its not hard to succeed when the items sell themselves

    I actually made a comment saying that I disagree with the mindless buyer. There are good buyers. You just need to be a good seller. I don’t make “dookie”. But, when I sell to a buyer, I have a smile knowing that they’re gonna love what I sent them. Saying this, teach me, how do you make money, selling non fast, beautiful items.

    The RIGHT bins are solid. I pay $1/tee at my bins and i find great pieces (nothing even remotely grails or high dollar pieces, just good flippable stuff) that i sell for anywhere from $22-$60. Now, i dont have competition but i dont discount it at all. It will always come down to the area.

      100% I agree. The bins can be great but depends on location

    Sean makes a good point here. Ebay's search engine is not right. I can search for a certain pair of jeans and when I try to find the STR, sometimes it will say 0 sold, but there are the same pair of jeans that show up under the other category or the similar listings. Maybe it is because I miss a word in the search bar or something like that, but then if I correct my search phrase, sometimes it still will not show up correctly. It's so frustrating.

    Hi I have been selling for 25 years but only sold new items before. Its a learning curve to learn something new. I prefer selling new so much easier than selling all this preowned things.

    I think mixing things up is one way to avoid the lulls..,insteaf of just thrift also check antique stores..instead of just clothesnmix it up with small hardware, same storage space but more hooks out there.

    This dude used to pick up 99% of every Polo Ralph Lauren shirt (Button Up, Polo, etc) at around $7 calling it bread and butter. The STR on just a basic search of Polo Ralph Lauren Shirt is roughly 27%. Yes if you narrow it down to certain sizes, colors, patterns of course it's gonna change. Maybe his business model has changed from the typical $7-10 profit per item. And it's funny how he gained alot more followers and subscribers and the content went downhill. And the funny thing is he used to follow me but as usual once you become a "mega" seller (insert sarcasm) they get rid of 90% of the people they follow.

    Beau, I know eBay charges the final Bayley fees on price+tax+shipping but… do you know if the fees paid on shipping are refunded if you buy the label on eBay? If so, this would save like 13%…so could be a big deal. Just wondering if you knew the specifics here?

    • @BeauJohnson1
      @BeauJohnson1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I buy the shipping label the final value fees still apply last time I checked the transaction details.

      @@johnd4371doesn’t matter if you buy shipping label on ebay or not. Ebay won’t refund if buy labels through them. Doesn’t matter if you charge $20 shipping fee and only cost $10 to ship, ebay still charge 13% on the $20 shipping label

    I've watched a lot of these types of podcast videos about reselling, and it seems it's a ton of talk with no real information... it just seems the "success" is really just based on the volume of items listed. If you have 10k listings, you will sell much more volume....

    • @BeauJohnson1
      @BeauJohnson1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Find items that people are actually buying is the key. You could have 10k items in your eBay store that nobody wants. Thanks for watching!

    I have been watching resellers for years and saw them pricing high end items they were not familiar with so very cheap. Brands like lululemon…being priced for nothing…polo ralph lauren shirts for $15 its ridiculous…🫣one might take a billion pics and list a billion items working this way…If one is used $85 for a new r lauren shirt…finding it for $30 is a hell of a deal… it would sell guarantee… tks for the video
