The bottomline is there is no evidence to suggest that they asked to take her lies to the grave. Think about it, who is going to be responsible if she took her own life if they have piled her with pressure to address at parliament asap when she was already in an unstable & vulnerable state? Extending sympathy & giving her the space & time was humane & the right thing to do even though they were upset with her for damaging the party’s reputation despite being told to substantiate her claim by PS before making her speech. Singapore is not going to collapse if her lies were not addressed immediately.
That's The Thing! No evidence of any discussions whether to lie or Not to lie. Emails, sms, whatsapp, nothing. Leadership is not only about doing what's right. It is also about compassion. The WP leadership did the right thing allowing Ms Khan the space and time to first settle her personal problems before proceeding further. They did not want Ms Khan to end up like another Teh Cheang Wan. If this case were as straightforward like the adulterous PAP MP case, I'm sure the WP leadership would have made the WP MP concerned resign much sooner. Think about that.

If RK lied about her case in parliament, what's stopping her from lying to say that PS told her to take her lies to the grave? This RK is a serial liar
I personally think Sylvia handle her session much better than the other two senior leadership. Forget about Faisal, his session was purely painful, not just on his own but made worst by Desmond for the first part but still painful after Edwin took over. Pritam’s session was pretty clear that Edwin and Pritam were not going easy on each other. There was a lot more grace for Sylvia’s session, even though she was paraphrasing before answering to the questions, she gave very clear answers ultimately. I see her in a different light after this session. 👍🏻
Why should E Tong question S Lim about Faisal when the issue is about S Khan? E Tong kept asking hypothetical questions. E Tong failed miserably to get more details about S Khan's lie.
RK lied that is a fact, then she said she was advised to do so... in other words, RK's lie is WP's lie, and E Tong is just trying to get a clearer picture of the happenings in between. Facts are, WP leaders knew about the lie long ago, but did not do anything about it until damages are done, RK lie came out, now they are doing damage control which is normal, but the fact is, if WP leaders are as transparent as they claim to be, the public would have known about it long ago.
The other extreme would be to throw her under the bus immediately. All 3 testified that she broke down everytime when the subject arose and told her to seek professional help. I wouldn't want to be the one to trigger her into an emotional outbreak raising the issue again. I have dealt with people suffering from depression and emotional stress and I can tell you it's not a place you want to be. The chain of events was no longer controlled by the WP. It was in the hands of the PAP. Indranee could have asked for her resignation and be done with it. But she had to make a wayang of it and called for a COP, which was her perogative. Even if the WP had admitted the lie earlier, we can be sure the PAP would still continue with the COP knowing how vindictive they are. Pritam knew whatever he did or did not do, the wayang would have to play itself out. And that is why we are where we are today.
@@jpphua602in ur own words : 1) “All 3 testified that she broke down everytime when the subject arose and told her to seek professional help” My understanding was, from the recorded COP evidences given by all 4 of them (3 senior leaders & RK herself), her sexual assault issue was only brought up once in PS home on 8 August, not “everytime” as u suggested. This subject including the lie issue was hush hush till 3 October when PS alone visited her at her home. Bear in mind there was a sufficient 2 month’s space from Aug to Oct. Nothing was done to prepare her for the 4th October parliament sitting except for PS’s very vague statement to RK on 3 Oct to “take ownership & responsibility”. PS also did not border to ask her if her parents been informed of her sexual assault as it is, in his recorded evidence, “Pivotal” for her to come clean in public. Practically she was left all alone “To take ownership & responsibilty”. Imagine her anxieties without clear directions & needed backing & support from her 3 senior leaders as to how she can address her lie & come clean on 4th October. No surprise to me that she fumbled on 4 Oct. Where is the compassion shown to her by her leaders? 2) in ur own words: ‘The chain of events was no longer controlled by the WP. It was in the hands of the PAP”. My take is this was a very sweepy statement mayb only u can explain 3) in ur own words: “Indranee could have asked for her resignation and be done with it”. My question to u, do u really think so? My understanding is any abuse of MP’s privileges in parliament has to be dealt with by the COP. This is not a simple case, damage was done & Indranee could not exercise her own discretion. PS also knew this, in fact he also told RK about facing the COP for the mess she created
@@snowdrop77 Have you ever dealt with a person suffering from a mental condition? I have. Everytime they breakdown you are at a loss as to what to do next. Only the professionals can help. And this was the leadership's advice as well as telling her to talk to her parents. Pressing her further to tell the truth before seeking professional help would only lead to greater stress that may lead to suicide. That was why they gave her the time and space to come to terms with her condition before they could proceed. Knowing that she spoke to her parents is an indication to the leadership that she had come to terms with her condition and was no more in a state of denial. That is compassion. She's not a child. The leadership is not her babysitter. She only needed to be told once what's the correct thing to do. What was there to prepare her for when they knew she was going lie again? Indranee could have called for the COP at anytime. She could have called for a closed hearing instead of an open one. She could have not subject Ms Khan to further stress by putting her under the spotlight with cameras rolling. She could have called for a medical examiner's report before commencing the COP. That would have saved everybody a lot of time instead of letting Edwin Tong ramble on with his "if we assume she did not lie" line of misleading questions. She lied. She confessed. She resigned. Let review. Who started this exercise? Indranee from the PAP. Not the WP. What was the "crime"? Ms Khan told a false anecdote about a couple of police officers mishandling ONE sexual assault case. Did it affect the public's trust in the police force? No. Because everyone knows the police is not infallible and they do mishandle cases. How does Pritam and the WP benefit from her telling and continuing with the lie? Nothing, knowing the truth will eventually be found out Was Pritam asked by the PAP in parliament if Ms Khan lied? No. And they could have asked that anytime but decided to drag out the case to paint the WP in a bad light. The WP leadership has testified under oath in this COP. This is the discovery phase. The judgement will come later. So why are people judging prematurely? It does not benefit the WP to drag this case. They, more than the PAP would want the issue to be settled as soon as possible. All the PAP had to do was ask Pritam if she lied in parliament much earlier and he would have no choice but to tell the truth and terminate the service of Ms Khan. It only shows the PAP's intention is not to reveal the truth but put the WP in a bad light as long as they could. Don't believe everything Edwin Tong says. It makes you stupid.
Can you believe her that there are no conversations between her and RK from 8 Aug till 4th Oct? And nothing between her and PS or Faizal for the same period. Haha, they left everything to Pritam .Well orchestrated
The Chairman conveniently left the lie to be corrected to Pritam and was not following up in the matter whether by talking to Raeesah or her partners. No messages or texts or emails. When asked did she notify that to Pritam that she was leaving it to him to handle, her reply was she assumed he knew. Is this a reasonable course of action by the Chairman of the post powerful opposition party in Singapore? She said Raeesah's disclosing this to her parents was the key for her to correct the lie Yet she had never asked her whether her parents had already been informed or did she check Pritam or Faizal on the progress of this issue. It's not a sensible reply but knowing that she is doing well in such things wouldn't surprise anyone I guess
The questions sought from Ms Loh Pei Ting by the members of the ruling party itself is a new low. The harassment and the obvious intent to persecute the other members of the opposition party doesn't bode well for our local politics when the main issue should have been Ms. RK.
No, RK might have committed an offence. Her severity of offence is less if she was abetted by her leaders. The time line of events seems to suggest this

Pritam Singh once boast at a rally that the thread of transparency runs through the WP. Not! It's irrelevant for the public to know when the leadership knew of Raeesah lies? What other information, in the history of WP, has been kept from the public because they are 'irrelevant' ? Rhetoric is beautiful until it unravels
Pritam was not truthful. So are SL and FM. They hid the secret for 4 months. None of the CEC members knew but still they voted to convict. Very scary organisation
This is why the ministers are paid so highly....very few people can handle the pressure and know how to calculative give information in the midst of a argument.
In order to commit a crime there must be a motive to benefit oneself. How does encouraging Ms khan to lie benefit the WP? So, to all the "smart" people out there... what's the motive?
“Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.”
Pappies had lost the COP due to ET and no facts finding but making assumption and force their interpretation and preception against all other witness. Only in this session, some real facts were prepared and submitted.
What should happen next is obvious. Subject Ms Khan to a psychological examination. Recall her back to substantiate her "take the matter to the grave" statement as that's disputed by all 3 of the WP leadership. Anything less will cast the PAP in a bad light.
I have met Mr PS in person, I truly agree he is a good MP who serves the people with his heart. However, as much as I support WP and PS, i felt this matter has been mishandled by the WP leaders to some degree. None of the 3 leaders took the initiative to contact RK to ask about her well being at any point in time before 4th Oct. 2021 (so much about being compassionate). Assuming they were all too busy to think about this matter for a good 2 months, why couldn't and didn't PS ask RK clearly and in a more direct manner on the 3rd oct if she has spoken to her parents and if she is mentally prepared and ready to clarify the matter truthfully in Parliament if the matter is raised. They should have known that the matter is very serious and has to be dealt with very urgently... Having said that , I don't believe that PS has given the order to RK whether directly or indirectly to hide the truth... for whatever reason this matter has come to such a stage, only they know.

They wanted her to talk to her family first and correct the record herself. I don’t think she needs handholding, she is an adult.
I suggest that everyone watch the session with Ms Khan again in light of the WP leadership's testimonies. The WP leadership had nothing to do with Ms Khan concocting the lie nor encouraged her to continue with the lie. this saga i think boils down to the vibes of Raeesah. many in the WP must have perceived her immaturity, irresponsibility and impetuosity from the day she was picked to run. Sylvia must have perceived that too. alas they took a chance on her professed youthful idealism. when her lie became patent, all the leaders did not know how to deal with the case, especially when she introduced into the mess her past assault encounter. many must have shaken their heads and abandoned the case to Pritam to handle. poor man must have wished the incident would peter out on its own. the case has no precedent and if Low were in charge he could have nipped the trouble early by vetoing her participation. remember that we had been speaking about giving new-age people a chance to bring forth new solutions? but brand new Turks do not always live up to your wish. now we see a wishful selection process that has shipped in an age-old problem -- immaturity and irresponsibility of quite a slice of the young generation.

Even if the WP leaders did not instruct her to continue with the false narrative, they should still take responsibility for their lack of actions to rectify the lies and poor leadership! The reason given by them (because Raeesah had yet to inform her parents) isn’t valid to me as nothing was stopping them from addressing the lies in parliament immediately without having to mention publicly that she was a victim of sexually assault

It feels like you can just watch her version of facts alone and pretty much clearly understand everything that transpired.

Why the WP leader also lie for 2 months to be continued as MP ?
Jamus' session was great! He handled it beautifully by independently seeking feedback others on the ground before forming his judgement & opinion.
Sylvia is a seasoned liar

How? Please explain.
My take is this was a very sweepy statement mayb only u can explain
3) in ur own words: “Indranee could have asked for her resignation and be done with it”. My question to u, do u really think so? My understanding is any abuse of MP’s privileges in parliament has to be dealt with by the COP. This is not a simple case, damage was done & Indranee could not exercise her own discretion. PS also knew this, in fact he also told RK about facing the COP for the mess she created
@@snowdrop77
Have you ever dealt with a person suffering from a mental condition?

Nothing, knowing the truth will eventually be found out
Was Pritam asked by the PAP in parliament if Ms Khan lied?

When asked did she notify that to Pritam that she was leaving it to him to handle, her reply was she assumed he knew.
Poor WP…. But i am sure WP will never give up . Be strong 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
They had shown themselves to be lack of due diligence and its sad that they didn't follow up the case.
Unbelievable

All said, she was a smooth operator but not in the healthy sense. Integrity is a utmost virtue our politicians should have.
The world " overwhelmed ' was badly abused. They rehearsed well

@@rslin4888 ask ET and COP?
Not condoning Raeesah’s behaviour but I still find it unbelievable that a rookie MP like her would dare to continue lying in parliament without the backing of her leaders.
You are right
Ah one of the infamous gang of 3 in workers party. Behaving like a taichi master pushing the blame to others.
I hope young people are not watching this and picking up all the wrong cues from this episode. So much ugliness and pettiness in full display here. Very little dignity shown in the process.
Young people should know the lying is bad and more so if done by senior politicians who are leaders
I agree. Witch hunting is really ugly.
I dont think it's witch hunting. There are cover ups by elected leaders .
This is crucial to our structure of politics. Otherwise we would end up like Malaysia
@@coshinc5941 I think there will certainly be some damage control done by WP. Pritam Singh is by a means a respectable leader whom I want to have to lead Singapore - FM, SL, and even PS himself have said so, I could evne point out the timestamps for you.
However, what ET has done is really trying to put more blame on the FM, SL and PS than what was necessary. The lie was told by RK and she is responsible to correct it but she didn't. What ET tried to do is to mislead the WP leaders into admitting it's their fault for the lie which I find it to be inappropriate and reeks of witch hunting.
@@ShouldBeKnown
O yes, let Pritam be PM, SL be Finance minister and FM be foreign minister. SL will do another AHTC while FM will negotiate well with his supper English and thought process
12:39. ok. so the sexual assault, RK didn't have the courage to report it back then at age of 18....Seriously, did it really took place?
Of all the parties involved, this was the best and clearest session where I finally gotten to know on the events that transpired from 3 Aug onwards.
My respect for Sylvia grown tremendously. She were well spoken, and clear in the events that transpired, without beating around the bush. She gives of the vibes of my no nonsense secondary school teacher haha.
But I just have my doubts on the zero communication between the WP senior leaders amongst the 3 months. Is it really possible you guys don’t gossip or discuss? 😂
She was just a smoother liar.
You really believe she left everything to Pritam? And she is the Chairman of WP? She is a seasoned flipper
She asked RK to go with the lie. Smooth criminal, yes!

Well said👍
Between Prritum's and Sylvirr's the latter is more forthright while the other was " adversarial"
The latter lies smoothly.
Distracting with making faces.
Old tricks
I don't understand why they need to take such lengths to figure out if others had told RK to admit to her lie.
RK knew her anecdote was a lie. She knew she could have put her point across without the lie. She chose to ignore PS' question to substantiate this before the speech. And now PAP is inferring that if someone had told her to tell the truth, she would have magically become an angel and start speaking the truth and listening to her leaders?
No she will never be an angel after that lie. The COP must investigate on Wp leaders play a part in this or not. The time line of events are too suspicious
@@brmin7312 I'm not saying no investigation needs to be done. This, in my opinion, is being stretched too much. Compared to the person who told the lie, others are being questioned more fiercely
@@AK-ch4es
The witnesses are not cooperative.
The law states that RK cannot be punished more than she deserves or less than she deserves.
This is why the COP needs to consider mitigating or aggravating factors. She deserve fair justice
@@brmin7312 everyone deserves justice. RK knows the impact (having been given a stern warning by the police before) that she has to be careful with what she is saying. The leaders may have really considered her mental state before pushing her. What she said about herself is not something that anyone will take lightly. I don't see why anyone should be punished simply for having compassion.
And I don't see how the witnesses are not cooperative. They are trying to explain their point of view. Instead of taking that into consideration, those asking questions are fixated on what they think should have been done. It's easy to tell now what should have been done when everything has been said and done.
@@AK-ch4es
Well let Pritam explain why he left it to RK or SL to explain why she disappeared from 8th Aug till the second lie on Oct 4 or Faizal to explain why the counsellor that he is did not bother to check whether RK had already spoken to her parents about her ordeal which all 3 members claimed to have caused them to be " overwhelmed " and without squaring this ( in SL's words), RK would not be able to make the necessary corrections to the parliamentary lie.
Where was SL? Did she guide her, meet, message, email or ask Pritam the progress?
Hypocrites.
Here comes ET from twilight zone rumbling & bumbling through the end of the tunnel ...
Rk has to responsible for all her lies.
Why don't they show PAP OATH??
RK is suffering from Arcufutri
She lied and she's above 21 and thus she is responsible for here own actions. It is her own misdoing and nothing to do with others advice!!.
This is just to smear the WP..but we are no blockhead..🤨
Wasting time & money
Imagine nothing of this happems, what will these people be doing? Too free?
Honestly, I tried to listen and stay neutral but to the extend I find it unworthy to watch further as truly broadcasting this to public is a waste of time and resources and might seem more to have propangada than it is. Resources can be put to better use than this. What makes it worst to shed light of someone being sexually assaulted and making it known to the whole world .If the victim became vulnerable and succumb to negative outcome in life, those behind this whole saga needs to be in deep remorse and be held responsible.
Nothing is wasted. It's life lessons.
The 3 senior WP members were so overwhelmed that they could not talk to Raeesah about the lie as she was emotionally very fragile. That's 8 aug
The same people who witnessed Raeesah's emotional problems left her in the cold .
Sylvia Lim was nowhere to be seen , so was Faizal the counsellor.
They testified in COP about their deep concern about her not getting proper treatment.
Isn't that ironical? We keep learning.
We can stay neutral but don't stop learning life lessons
WP should just own up instead of playing this circus... timeline and actions do not lie, it is clear they wanted to hide it... just admit it and get it over with.
