Hey guys! I’m from Sweden and I love your reactions to Abba. Think I’ve pretty much seen them all… but I was surprised to find you reacting to this totally unknown song and not the other one beginning with “Happy” - Happy New Year! Not one new years eve goes by in Stockholm without that being played all over the place, and I believe it’s the same in many other countries. It’s on their Super Trouper album which in my opinion is their best. Personally, I prefer the refinished version with the updated lyrics of "Why did it Have to be Me." I like the rockier edge to the song. This one is a little too campy for me. Yet, I love anything ABBA does. Soooo, when can you do a Linda Rodstadt? "Still Wothin the Sound of My Voice" or "Adios." Both from "Cry Like a Rainstorm...." (If you do, Tyler, I will subscribe). I'm dying that you said it was an ABBA song that was "too campy", weren't ABBA camp, before camp was camp??? Yeah I'm going with yes on that one...personally it's the ABBA songs that are traditionally "campier" that I tend to love more, because it's really hard to create stand out songs like that, and if people are bothering to place them in a "style" category like camp, well that's pretty much making it to me haha
I have rarely listened to this song. I knew about WDIHTBM, because of "Arrival", yet this one was only a b-side to KMKY, which I never owned. When I finally bought their 4 disc "Thank you for the Music", it featured all of their b-side hits; several of which I never heard, like "Happy Hawaii." I was very excited to finally hear it and I thought, hmm, this sure sounds strangely familiar. It took a few listens to realize why. Since then I have rarely listened to it, because to me the better song has always been WDIHTBM. (Maybe I'd need to visit Hawaii to appreciate it more). Yet, it doesn't matter what style of music ABBA puts out, it's uniquely ABBA and I love it.
The words camp and cheese are normally use by people for older styles they just don't get, like it's an excuse for them to dismiss something. Always seems lazy to me.

Ok I used to like "Why Did It Have To Be Me" but they way they did it live ABSOLUTELY ruined it for me...I don't care for the arrangement, really dislike that Agnetha isn't a part of it, and just felt more of a "Frida Show" when they did it, which in turn made me not care for it, because both girls were on the original recording, still not sure why they chose to do that. But it did ruin the song for me...that tends to happen...Almost happened with "Summer Night City", I did not like the live version AT ALL, but at least it was the whole group and they gave it an element of edge to it when they did it! It has grown on me as time goes by tbh, especially the Dick Cavett version.
I wonder if your opinion about the live version would be the same if it had been an Agnetha show without Frida? Agnetha was backstage to change clothes for the mini musical "The Girl With The Golden Hair". After this song also Frida went backstage to change clothes and Benny played Intermezzo No. 1 during that time. If I'm right then Agnetha came back and sang a song alone without Frida but I don't know which one. In my opinion the studio version sounds a bit boring in comparison with the live one.

Lovers Live is one of the most groovy and soulful recordings they did. Very underrated.

Or anywhere else when it comes to the original album. It was only ever a b-side until deluxe editions popped up.

Ok I used to like "Why Did It Have To Be Me" but they way they did it live ABSOLUTELY ruined it for me...I don't care for the arrangement, really dislike that Agnetha isn't a part of it, and just felt more of a "Frida Show" when they did it, which in turn made me not care for it, because both girls were on the original recording, still not sure why they chose to do that. But it did ruin the song for me...that tends to happen...Almost happened with "Summer Night City", I did not like the live version AT ALL, but at least it was the whole group and they gave it an element of edge to it when they did it! It has grown on me as time goes by tbh, especially the Dick Cavett version.
I wonder if your opinion about the live version would be the same if it had been an Agnetha show without Frida? Agnetha was backstage to change clothes for the mini musical "The Girl With The Golden Hair". After this song also Frida went backstage to change clothes and Benny played Intermezzo No. 1 during that time. If I'm right then Agnetha came back and sang a song alone without Frida but I don't know which one. In my opinion the studio version sounds a bit boring in comparison with the live one.
