This one makes me really happy and believe a little more in the project Nigeria. I live in Germany and my mum recently called me to tell me that she's been advised to head to the capital Abuja, to make corrections to her passport. I was really pissed and confused at the same time as to why one has to travel 100s of kilometer just to make a simple correction to a document in the 21st century. But knowing that changes can be made in the comfort of one's room now is highly laudable.
And I would like to add that these women were highly professional in their presentation. kudos to them!
Thank you for bringing this important information to public domain. Another major problem for Nigeria is visa application problem.
Those of us in international organizations see good foreigners shunning Nigeria because the visa process is just horrible. We are one of the worst in Africa. Ghana, Kenya, Benin rep. Have digitalised their visa system or visa on arrival.
Only criminals are entering Nigeria for free.
The real tourists and cooperate bodies do not want to come.
Please Call on whichever office is responsible for visas to come and explain to us why it is so difficult to update our visa process.

This is really impressive. This will change things for us living abroad. Goodness! The process was so frustrating. The people at the Nigeria passport office abroad, especially at the DC office are really evil servants. I am looking forward to a contactless system so that I do not have to deal with their @asses.
You are absolutely right, The Atlanta office in GA is terrible too, one keeps wondering why the descent system in which they operate does not have any impact on their customer service. You call and write with no response .How can an 84yr old still have to travel to either GA or DC for biometrics FOR PASSPORT RENEWAL Hopefully, the new system will be easier for Nigerians living abroad who still want to be connected to original homeland. My passport had expired for the past three years and I gave up on it. Even getting a visa to go home has become a problem too as one needs to show up at their embassy.

DC Embassy is the worst..They have a lady their called Alhaja, she's a principality her self..The front desk receptionist PASSPORT COLLECTION is RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.

@@revolverocelot2253 It so inconsiderate of our government wasting our hard earned money for unnecessary trips and charges for passport renewal. Hopefully the new passport processing rules will work out, anyway,if it doesn't , I don't pray of going there anytime soon ,haven't stepped feet on that troubled nation for more than half of a decade now. It was easier getting a visa to travel to Nigeria if one is a citizen of the host country with their valid passport but they made it compulsory to appear for visa interview at the Nigerian consulate office now.Most of the employees at the Atlanta ,GA consulate office customer's service is horrible, they refuse to imbibe the professionalism of their host country.

The backlog has been cleared according to the minister since December ending. So tell your in-law to check online or you can do it yourself

Edit: This sort of question is never asked when young Nigerians are making JAMB applications online and WAEC applications online. Same Nigerians makes VISA application online.
But now, when it comes to making online application for passport, you start seeing all sort of question's.
Some folks who claim to be from diaspora are also saying they can't make online application, and you wonder how they process their Visa.

indigene certification attested by a court???....And you'd want us all to go to our local govt office in my state of origin to get it?? Even when I've never ever been there? So my children will also go get aame from our state of origin even though their parents already have passports as Nigerian citizens??....This is not adding up quite well. Even with us been present at the Immigration office to make Passport, ur co- workers make alot of errors eg Names, Date of birth & even in ur State of Origin. Who would be responsible for those mistakes?

Earlier this January, I applied for passport Renewal in London and the closest appointment date I got was in April 2024. This is too far away 😢

Today, she has captured and obtained her 10 years international passport within one week after paying for fast tracking.
