wow.. those really need some thick lexan shields over the outside of the bars.. mounting them in an easily removable for cleaning and eventual repolishing of the surface.. even a small chunk of debris falling from that height could go right between those bars and right thru the front window injuring the operator. a few thousand dollars worth of lexan.. even if you go thru several a year could save in workmans comp 100 times over.. if the lexan cuts down on the operators view.. install cameras on the dipper with pan and tilt motors. i do realize that the boom will not be used very often in the vertical position. this is the exact reason the lexan panels are removable easily.. don't need them on every job operation..
