This is a great song, and many have tried to cover it but something about this arrangement, his voice, the way it's all mixed makes it sublime and emotional. Musically it's simple but the combination of the acoustic guitar, strings, percussion, that flanged autoharp solo in the middle, that sitar-like instrument plus Randy's voice really work best.
Lots of beautiful memories with this song. I'm more interested in the melody rather than the lyrics. This was always our 'lullaby' song during our night shift duty in the power plant control room. Once Randy starts singing the title, almost all of us in that room sing with him in unison. Beautiful voice and greatly performed, RIP Randy..
