Great haul!..great flips too❤..I have my grandmas French provincial two dressers..she used to polish the wood at least a few times a week..they are in mint condition I’d love to paint them but I just can’t bring myself to do it..hers has the very wavy drawers ❤
I thimk everybody has different tastes. If you have the right decor, it fits.
Spray with shellac before painting to keep the cherry color from bleeding through.
Can’t do that in the house and I can’t do it outside when it’s freezing. That’s why I love the salvation solution because it’s not toxic and can be brushed in the comfort of my home.

I have cherry tables, and I hate the red stain. I prefer natural wood finishes with danish oil. Sometimes I feel like staining wood is covering up grain-dare I say it? You mine as well paint it 😂 btw, you should display all your cute afghans/quilts in that blanket chest

I usually try to pick a color that will compliment the painting but not over power it
If people can’t say something nice, they don’t need to say anything. I think that is just good manners. I mother taught me this, and I try to live by it.

I understand that a lot of things need painting, and you do beautiful work, but why do you paint an antique piece made of cherry, instead of refinishing? Just wondering. I think cherry wood is beautiful.

It’s just vintage and it will sand off. It needed refinished. So if someone doesn’t like it they can refinish it no problem. I wasn’t a fan of the stain and I didn’t feel like stripping it.
They also sell paint, so it comes natural.

I absolutely love Zeb's humongous picture. I'm not a big fan of the chippy look I know a lot of people do and you all do an amazing job with what you do. With that being said I love what you did to the dresser and chest. Especially the chest. Great job!

The new pieces turned out phenomenal! Don’t let people’s negative responses get to y’all. You’re right, when you purchase items from the thrift shops they’re definitely not high end, but once you start working on them they change totally. By fixing things needing to be repaired, and painting and/ or staining them to redo them, they BECOME High end! You both have an amazing eye that allows you to see what a piece not only could look like redone, but what it will look like, then you go about creating that high end piece. Keep up what you’re doing because everything turns out wonderful!

These people who come on to biatch, have no clue on how valuable YOUR WORK is. It’s not like you’re rubber stamping anything either you’re plying an artistic flair that cannot be easily replicated. If they wanted to, they could go ahead and try.
They will NOT take into account how many printers you’ve gotten until now you have one that prints huge art on canvas. (And ZEB’s eye for the art to print.) They will not consider how many years and years you’ve done this. The two pieces you did today increased their value more than 10-fold. More important, they’re drop dead gorgeous! I challenge them to walk into a thrift and buy similar pieces and create anything of the caliber you created on this video!
It isn’t just that YOU created Haint Blue Cottage Colors and then casually plopped some darker color in to it. It’s that the color you created was done ONCE *because you know what you’re doing.*
I say all of this as a fledgling creator. I thought it would be easy to just do it. That’s not the case at all. It takes practice, talent and a rare business sense that has made you a success!
You have a gorgeous shop that has a LOT of handmade, and yes high end items, throughout.
And there’s TWO of you, creating side by side. (Does anyone understand how many couples canNOT work together like this?)
Turn up their noses all they want. Their followers know the difference between their negative cheap shots and JRV’s artistic talent.
