    Thanks for your explanation I’ve had my second radiotherapy session at the Christie today for neroendocrine of my right mandible Ive been at the Christie for the last 12 years having monthly octoreatide injections and get on well still working and doing normal things but seeing the actual treatment being given is a huge help to understand better because when you’ve got the masks on all you can do is hear whats happening but seeing it makes sense thank you and all at the Christie .

    I have to say, the lady they chose to shadow and take the videos of seems like one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever seen, I wish I could visit her! Reminds me a lot of my grandma.

    Very interesting, a very similar procedure to what I had done at Addenbrookes hospital, in February 2016, I had a neck disection before hand, I'm doing good now though!!!

    I had head and neck cancer 39 years ago. I am still alive to tell the tale. But unfortunately, radiation has ruined the quality of my life. Recently, I started with swallowing difficulties because my epiglottis Is damaged, (I'm told it can't be repaired) so, I am nil by mouth and tube fed. Now my voice has totally gone . The vocal cord is paralysed. This extra damage was due to radiation. I am thankful that I saw my children grow up , but If I could go back in time, in hindsight, I would not have had the radiation. Patients need to know about the damage that can occur further down the line due to radiation therapy.

      Why do you think they can diagnose your dad without seeing him?

    Can the same cancer comes back again after head and neck radiation therapy and chemotherapy

    • @fashizzlemanizzle4808
      @fashizzlemanizzle4808 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it can. When the same cancer comes back after a period of remission or “cancer-free” period is what doctors call “relapse” or “recurrence”.

      Hi Eva, thanks for contacting The Christie. Each mask is tailored individually to each patient and we take into account their preferences. Though, we advise patients to remain still to reduce movement while the mask is being made.

    • @alvinarosianalouisiana5249
      @alvinarosianalouisiana5249 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Christie NHS Foundation Trust then why is the eyes and the mouth covered so it’s just the same as you are not allowed to talk and open your eyes during the therapy

    • @AlexanderWright1
      @AlexanderWright1 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mask is warmed in a hot bath of water, so it's best to have your eyes shut to avoid getting water into them. You need the mask to be firm around your head, so you can't move during treatment.
      Note, please ensure your head and neck is completely comfortable on the head rest before the mask is made. You will be on the same shape head rest during treatment, and you'll want to be comfortable.

    That mask is insanely traumatic what is someone has panic attacks !? Cancer is the result of seriously toxic emotions and grudges.
