    I had a guy come by this morning claiming my two chickens belonged to him. Guess I will have to band them. Thanks for the viceo

      Wow! I've heard of people stealing them outright but coming by to claim them. That takes guts. Check the link in the description. They work great! Hope this helps you keep your flock to yourself! Keep me posted on the outcome!

      Thanks for the kind words! Do you own chickens? If so, tell us about your flock. We're going to keep posting about our girls. They are such a blessing and so much fun to have around. Thanks for subbing!

    Great information on banding the chickens. the looser bands seem better for the chickens

      They work great. I can't stress enough to not use the tighter bands. Thanks for watching!

    Same thing happened to us!! I stopped using the first ones you showed when I noticed one limping around. Her leg was starting to swell around the band and I had to cut it off and it was really gross. I doctored it and she’s completely healed but I was so mad that those bands are even sold! Thank you for sharing this new type of band. I’ll be ordering some!

      It is amazing what is sold. We didn't know any better so we bought them. Lesson learned. Never again. You will love the new bands. Let me know what you think when you receive them.

    Great idea to band them when you more than one batch of the same breed of girls. I hope to have that problem one day. 😉 Great job on the video.

      Find a few breeds you like and you'll end up with hens from multiple years. I can see us getting more Barred Plymouth Rocks. We'll end up with many of these. Friendly and good layers! We'll see how our leg bands work with three (or more) batches of the same breeds. Cheers Mr. Boots!

    Those look nice. When I was looking for bands for my brahmas but couldn't find any big enough for their beefy legs. I ended up using colored zip ties. I was a little worried about the fleathered feet/legs but it seems to be working out okay. I check them periodically to make sure they haven't gotten too tight like you mentioned. But so far so good (it's been 4 years).

    My teenagers do not have bands but my 5 new hens came with bands and they are out growing them so we need to cut them off! 😉

    • @TheOldSwedesFarm

      Get them off quick. I think they can do some real damage to their legs if left on too long.

    I was about to message you asking if you band your birds. Glad I found this! At what age will you band your new chicks?

    • @TheOldSwedesFarm
      @TheOldSwedesFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wait until they are almost adults. I would say somewhere around 14-16 weeks. They bow for you around then and are easier to grab. I want to wait til they had grown their legs to almost full size. Hope this makes sense.

    #legbandsforchickens possibly add this to your title and definetely add it to your keywords. You could easily rank for this term...it's low competiton. Rich or Holly...if you add a comment and PIN it to every video....it helps the algorythm. Older videos like this can be gone back to....and add hashtags...up to 3 in the description.....they will then show up right below the vid in blue text, just another optimization to get your videos found/more traffic/ etc

    • @TheOldSwedesFarm
      @TheOldSwedesFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm just not good at adding hashtags or knowing which ones to add. What comment would I pin to the video? I'm unclear how this would help. Aren't we trying to get others to comment, not us?!

    • @MiniatureChickenChannel
      @MiniatureChickenChannel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheOldSwedesFarm You can use whatever hashtags are appropriate for that individual video....tubebuddy software gave me the #legbandsforchickens after i simply started typing leg bands...it auto-filled the rest....really easy....like 5 bucks a month for this tool.
      Yes you want people to engage and comment....there are certain actions that the YT algo looks for to rank your videos.....a pinned comment by the author is a positive one....most ask a question to get others to comment....or sometimes people add some more details about the vid. It's not neccessary...just throwing some examples out where you can improve 🙂
