You're welcome Peggy! Photoshop Elements used to have a real nice fiilter that did this sort of thing but for some reason they removed it from the program when they did the major overhaul in version 11.
@@HTGGeorge Hello George. I have a question. In the tutorial we made a selection and saved it. We used it later. Now when I wish to use that same selection in another design, I am not able to download it. Is there a way to do this please ?.
Thanks! I still like the old Lighting Effects Filter better but that has been missing for years, so this technique helps to bring back the look. George
Hi, I always use a basic Microsoft Cordless Mouse. Nothing fancy. Tablets are great but since most people watching these videos will be using a mouse I do the same. One thing I do recommend when using a mouse is to also use a mouse pad with a wrist rest, this allows you to move the mouse with your fingers and not your whole hand. The basic concept is to use small muscles for small movements and large muscles for big movements. I also like hard mouse pads instead of those fabric ones with the rubber backing, the mouse slides more easily on a hard mouse pad. George
George, nice video. To me, it still looks a little unnatural because the edges of the ”poster” are so sharp against the brick wall. Would the picture further benefit from somehow softening those edges a little bit?
Hi, actually softening the edges of the poster would also look fake. I left out a step to keep the video down to a reasonable length for TH-cam. What the image now needs is to get some of the brick texture into the poster so it looks like the poster is glued onto the wall. Requires a few tricky steps, too much for this video. What you need to do is to copy the part of the wall behind the poster and convert that into a black and white image which can then be used as a bump map on the poster image. I did a video a while ago that shows the basic concept with lines on a face. Here is that video: th-cam.com/video/I6yS7qq8isA/w-d-xo.html George

Thank you, George. Very interesting, with many bits to learn. I will need to do this a couple more times to understand properly.

Wow. Thank you. This was *really* interesting. When you work with an image, are you using a mouse or do you prefer something else for more accuracy?
