It gets its name from the secret yarnery. She took a stitch from a book with stitches on which the stitches didn't have a name but a number and she came up with this name. That was several years ago, for some reason a lot of people now think that's the official name ;)
I like the name, I think it suits the stitch nicely 🥰 I wonder if anyone out there has given it a different name? In the same way moss stitch is also often called granite / linen stitch? I love how crochet stitch names have evolved from just stitches in a book without names, it feels lonely for them somehow 🤣
@@SnufflebeanYarn before secret yarnery came up with her name (2018) people called it variations with slanted in the name (slanted granny stitch, slanted shell stitch etc)
