It was one day before the release of Valimai, when my friends and I booked ticket at the last moment for Kadaisi Vivasayi. Palazoo - Night Show - Center Seats - With almost no other audiences around us. It was one of the best cinematic experience. The feeling was pure bliss. Naanum Myshkin maadhiri indha padaththa paakkaththa ellaaryum shame panna aarambichen... torture panni ellaarayum paakka vachuttu irukaen. நாத்திகனையும் ஆத்தினாக்கும் படம்.
In the title card, the director added his ancestors' names of both mother's and father's, Literally it is a invitation of ceremony like "ஊர் திருவிழா", "குலசாமி கொடை", that's how the movie started. I believe that the movie is deep and incomparable.
My interpretation about 15:50 Sithar scene ( I might be wrong).. Though Vjs lover's soul was present throughout the movie with him, he thought that she was his imagination.. (As she was not visible to anyone else) After she was visible to that Sithar (Kind of God) Vjs realised that she was not just his mere imagination but her soul was traveling with him all these days.... After that realisation Vjs wants to attain the divine state so both of their souls could live happily after.. (top of mountain scene)
Everybody can have their own interpretation but I align with expert fx. Vijay Sethupathi doesn't think she is just his imagination, he thinks she is real that is why he gets violent whenever people try to break the illusion that she is not here e.g tea shop fight

I feel there is an element of divine play (thiruvilayadal) in Mayandi being imprisoned. It is only because of this that he is able to directly and indirectly push more people into farming (the prisoner, his grandson, other villagers, police etc). The divine force works in mysterious ways!
Thank you for taking the time to dissect the film in depth. The reason why films like this don’t do well when it comes to collections is also because audiences don’t really want to come out of their comfort zone. If a movie doesn’t fall under action/comedy/thriller/horror genre people really don’t care. The issue also steams from toxic fan culture as well where they don’t want their actors to try something outside the box. I don’t see this mindset changing anytime soon unfortunately

This is what I exactly felt when I saw this film and also it clarified what is the different between philosophy and spiritual. World politics, Indian politic and also our tamil earliest belief... which is very close to our universal distinity. I m almost watching the film more than 50 years (Tamil, French, English, Iranian...) The best film I ever seen (of course to me) is this, because in every second there is a meaning.
One more metaphor is the judge wherever Judge come there will be butterfly symbolism for her including her tie . Insects are also farmers friends she also transformed from being a cocoon locked by the system then she became a butterfly after the case and joined the village members

I watched it when I was in my second trimester and the impact that it had on me couldn’t be described through words. Especially the scene where Thatha brings the grains for the ceremony. That divine experience you said.... We a crew of 5 people went to this movie after cancellations of shows in Karaikudi's top theatre and it went down the lane to a theatre called Shivam, which is not in work now. If i'm not wrong Kadaisi Vivasayi was the second last movie that was screened in Shivam Theatre. I can still retrospectively re-experience the fulfillment that we had because we witnessed that art anyhow by paying least minimum cost of 50 Rupees per ticket. We a crew of 5 people went to this movie after cancellations of shows in Karaikudi's top theatre and it went down the lane to a theatre called Shivam, which is not in work now. If i'm not wrong Kadaisi Vivasayi was the second last movie that was screened in Shivam Theatre. I can still retrospectively re-experience the fulfillment that we had because we witnessed that art anyhow by paying least minimum cost of 50 Rupees per ticket.
