I was surprised too at the time of release. Was difficult to get a copy from the music shops as I found none stocked any copies. It was a George Michael song for crying out loud!
they were friends after High Shirlie and Andrew dated starting after they left High School then Andrew introduced her to George and they became very close best friends and Pepsi aka Helen came along after Dee Cee Lee left Dee Cee is still close to them Shirlie was supposed to have Christmas Lunch with George but it wasn't to be but they did visit with each other weeks before he passed and the parted ways saying I love you and Andrew also saw him around the same time and Andrew cooked and they played Scrabble as Andrew says he was exacting his revenge because George had beaten him a week or so before LOL Shirlie also said she asked George are you happy and do you like being famous or however she said it and he smiled that smile and said Yes! so she can find peace in that thye said I love you before he was taken from her and I am sure Andrew has similar peace but they took his passing hard Andrew said his knees gave out when Melanie called with the news he had just texted George having no idea that George had already when home with his mother and Anselmo holding his hand
George purposely stayed in the background not to overshadow any of his friends when he colloborated on their songs he wanted the girls and Deon and Andrew to be recognized for their own talents he even called and apologized to Shirlie when his duet with Aretha went to number 1 on the charts and knocked Pepsi and Shirlie down Shirlie told him he neededn't feel bad she was happy for him
Ok funky I knew before I checked the year it was early 90’s it has that too funky vibe George Michael was such a great song writer and I did t know Pepsi and Shirley could sing so well here in the U.S nothing was really mentioned about them outside of wham very nice
I was a born in 1980 and still to this day in 2021 ive never heard of pepsi and shirley.Just saw their interview with Phillip and Holly and still dont recognise them.
dear god was i blind 30 years ago? love it😁
i miss george and his songs
This is sooooo George 😍😍 I totally love it!!!
he helped yes but he would not want the credit he did it to help them he only sang background and yes he wrote the songbut he would call it their song
Memories of my student days in London!
very very nice song.. i wasn`t hear this song yet
Am I the only one just discover this after 30 years? Both girls look so hot! This track is brilliant!
I never thought that a more experimental and sophisticated album was released. Very good production and they are impressive.
@@killersoul82 Sadly, I couldn't find any free link to load the album.
@@tysoon3000 another track in this platform "th-cam.com/video/WtobLLk7fVs/w-d-xo.html", also i will like listen the complete lp.
@@killersoul82 Sounds really catchy! I liked. It has that Swing Out Sister vibes. Thanks for this! Do post here if you found anymore link, cheers!
@@tysoon3000 Yes, sound like SOS, very good bite!
Written and produced by George as well.
Even the backing vocals
How was this not a hit??

@@RevvedUpBikerwow, I can’t understand why that was - The girls have great appeal, and the song is so upbeat. You can’t get it on Spotify.
Sooo much overshadowing going on in the industry during that time! Very unfortunate!
Beautiful voices, great beats
Should've been a huge hit - I hope there's a George version, sounds like it could have been on LWP Vol 2 along with Too Funky
nah this was written for them only
this should defo been song by just george ! you can just tell he wrote it
another GM gem...!
Its Pepsi and Shirlie though George wouldn't want the credit he just helping out friends for fun
Pepsi & Shirley were dancers for Wham's music videos, and were close friends of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
they were friends after High Shirlie and Andrew dated starting after they left High School then Andrew introduced her to George and they became very close best friends and Pepsi aka Helen came along after Dee Cee Lee left Dee Cee is still close to them Shirlie was supposed to have Christmas Lunch with George but it wasn't to be but they did visit with each other weeks before he passed and the parted ways saying I love you and Andrew also saw him around the same time and Andrew cooked and they played Scrabble as Andrew says he was exacting his revenge because George had beaten him a week or so before LOL Shirlie also said she asked George are you happy and do you like being famous or however she said it and he smiled that smile and said Yes! so she can find peace in that thye said I love you before he was taken from her and I am sure Andrew has similar peace but they took his passing hard Andrew said his knees gave out when Melanie called with the news he had just texted George having no idea that George had already when home with his mother and Anselmo holding his hand
now which is more music to the ears, these melodies about passion & yearning, or todays drill poison masquerading as art?
Pepsi Is fabulous in every way. Hot as never. And the song itself is like Heaven help me from Deon Estus. All I can hear is George singing this song.
George purposely stayed in the background not to overshadow any of his friends when he colloborated on their songs he wanted the girls and Deon and Andrew to be recognized for their own talents he even called and apologized to Shirlie when his duet with Aretha went to number 1 on the charts and knocked Pepsi and Shirlie down Shirlie told him he neededn't feel bad she was happy for him
@@aprilgosa5779George Michael was such a good person, the world was a better place for having him in it.
Woah, what a great song written and produced a real artist! 💞
Wow!
Fantastic song! ❤💗❤💗

This album come out in 1991.
Yep, same snare drum etc. from Too Funky, Crazymandance and other songs from that time period.
Dave Johnson this is their third song that I know of Heartache is a great song
Ok how am I just discovering this in 2024?!
What is happening?!? 🤯🤯🤯
since *heartache* didn't even know they did this one
YES. TODAY OCTOBER-25th-2024... I DISCOVERED THIS MUSICAL DUET: "PEPSI & SHIRLIE"... MEGA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW... !!!! ENJOY...!!!!
Superb music, thank you
Um pop britânico🇬🇧 espetacular 👍🏻
Wow! Where was this hiding? Loving the dark hair Shirlie!!
Without TH-cam, many didnt even knew this awesome track exist! Including me.
Very Paula Abdul-esque, fantastic!
God I love these two! Great music
Great song and video. Criminal this wasn't a big hit
Love love love ❤️
wooo playing this band 1987 in rose room!
re-release !!
Change is a great CD.this sounds like " too funky ". There must a George vocal version.
Did you listen to the Change album? Any good? I couldnt find it anywhere to load.
I doubt that he recorded a version he did this to help them out because he wanted to
Pepsi had a lot of bounce.
My God she is stunning in this video.
Amazing
This I call music
The Wham! Girls on pop, Paula Abdul style
❤
BV's by George Michael & Peter Cox from Go West
I thought that was PC on backing vocals the more I kept hearing them.
Wow , thanks! Peter with George damn!
I never knew they went on to have their own career after Wham!
Really trying to imagine the phone call George made to Peter Cox to be on backing vocals 😅
I don't know if Shirlie has a wig on or if she dyed her hair I do think its her natural color though but either way wow its gorgeous
💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
this is so Paula Abdul's straight up.
I was a born in 1980 and still to this day in 2021 ive never heard of pepsi and shirley.Just saw their interview with Phillip and Holly and still dont recognise them.
I was born in 77 and remember there first single heartache but have never heard this song before it's so sounds like Paula abdul or Janette Jackson!
such a vibrant, funky and uplifting song in style of George Michael. How it comes, that it did not hit the charts????!!
How is it possible that you missed their first smash hit "heartache"??? It was played everywhere back in 1987
Lyrics are good but they used too much synthesizer.
y gEORGE???????
A bit Too Funky? ;)
العلم يأتي من الله
never noticed pepsi had big bouncing funbags before.
Yeah…few years before there was less „fun“ 😏
@@Marv_0815 i like a lot of fun.
Umph 🤷
doesnt sound like george
It is him and he wrote this for them and produced it.
Got to remember that Peter Cox is in there aswell so it’s a bit of a mix
A georgey style lyric. Catchy indeed. But my word what a god awful video. One of the worst in pop history perhaps.
This sounds nothing like george would ever do. This is too generic.
Don't hear geoege on this at all. His voice is distinctive and its not here. Plus I'm sure he had nothing to do w this song.
it sucks
Don't hate - it's an ugly word jealous bitches use.
What you just said is articulate, it's intelligent, and it is logical, and God bless you for claiming that right.
