According to the recent anniversary poll, Namielle is the most popular monster that isn't a flagship (including alts) or an endgame encounter. Just let that shocking fact, sink in...
I find it a shame that the poll was terribly inaccurate because votes for each theme were split between the regular and variant/deviant versions of the same monster-even though these are essentially just more experienced versions of the same monster
@adryquill distinctly not true Blackveil Vaal, for instance, is drastically different from base Vaal. SilvRath is practically a different monster from base Rathalos You just can't pool Acidic Glavenus' votes into regular Glavenus. They're too different. Some monsters like Azure Rathalos are less different, but are still categorically separate monsters from their base species

Skin like Chitin of lobsters, bioluminescence, electricity of an eel delivered via mucus similar to a lung fish, singular wings to tail biological structure, like a manta ray, stingers of a jellyfish, this beauty is the manifestation of the sea! One of the most well designed elders ever! Love it

Fun fact. Namelie is completely peaceful until she sees you fighting something. Even if the monster attacked you first, when you attack them she'll join the fight. Or so it seems.
Most Elder Dragons are like that as they don’t see you as a threat. The only Elder Dragons that will attack when they see you are Kirin, Nergigante, and Lunastra. Kirin is actually supposed to be one of the most passive Elder Dragons, but if you stand it’s way for a long time, it will attack. Nergigante will attack you pretty quickly, but at least he warns you to get out of his territory first. Lunastra, well, she wants to kill you the SECOND you’re in her eyesight!
So far this is my favourite Elder Dragon in World. It's design, the colouration, the movements, and sounds it makes like a fish quickly swimming around in water. Really cool, now all that's missing is the water.
Ironically, Namielle is probably one of the most scientifically-grounded elders in spite of its truly eldritch appearance. It doesn't call lightning from the sky like Kirin does - it generates the energy in a special organ like, say, our world's electric eels. It then uses its highly conductive "Water Slime" as a medium to zap its enemies/prey. And then when this thing unleashes its ultimate attack, it's actually visibly drained afterward rather than just returning to "normal".
i prefer when its more grounded since thats what made mh monsters so special among other monsters in media. Great design, great concept, fun fight despite being pretty easy, would hunt again :)
While it would be rather frightening to experience, one's gotta say it: It would be one hell of a beautiful fight if the lights reflected on Namielle's surroundings.
@@walkerpierce5446 It would give a chance for True Lagiacrus to return, not the Generations, Secretly-Ivory Lagiacrus. But I wouldn't hold your breath for the mechanic to be reintroduced (no pun intended), what with Iceborne being the only major expansion planned.

It isn't supposed to be too intense, but more dreadful as well as sort of beautiful. Just like the open ocean a dreadful deep abyss that can swallow you, as well as a wonderful realm of some of the most amzing life on our planet. Deep sea elder dragon sounding and lookin good
I'd imagine a few tussles between Namielle and an Abyssal Lagi, even Ceadeus, apparently Ceadeus prey on Nami too.
