Yep! Another that helps is to put a very light coating of mineral oil on your fretboard/strings. This way, your fingers slide easier, and you can play a little longer every day--which builds your callouses faster.
I like that its a slide guitar song lol

Should I wipe them before playing?
It doesn’t necessarily have to be before you play. A few times a day with dry out the skin and help it toughen up.
How long does the roughness last?
As long as you keep playing your guitar friend. This method is just a jump start 😊
