"Way back when" (late 80's?) I was in Peoria over a weekend for 2 hobbies (amateur radio show Saturday, train show Sunday) and the thought of hours of watching the boob tube iin the motel room sounded way too boring. So I blindly looked up the ATSF transcon and took IL40 north out of Peoria. Now, I had no background on Edelstein or the grade out of the valley or any of the history. So I found this town, did a little exploring and came across a grade crossing just west of town. I parked on the farmer's access road, just across the tracks and to the right, and sat for hours on that guard rail around the gate. Back then there was still a double crossover just east (right) of the crossing, a holdover from helper days, protected by approach-lit searchlights on Santa Fe I-beam signal bridges. It was never more than 5 minutes until a headlight came into view or the signals came to life. At one point the dispatcher did a 3-way meet there. I was confused by the occasional horn to the west with no train coming until I discoverer the C&NW N-S line a mile or so to the west. It was a glorious night. Thanks for finding this crossing and posting it.

Thank you. This is definitely a nice spot to just sit and watch the trains roll by for hours
Awesome Catch of this Union Pacific Intermodal Train going fast then going slow after that with a BNSF Train helping too in the middle.
Nice UP Power
Great catch 👌 watch out for the bull
