  • This device is a fantastic tool for finding squeaks, creeks, pops, clicks, and grinds anywhere on the vehicle. If you can't tell exactly where a noise is coming from this tool can help.

    I'm taking my car in next week for a noise like a rear hatchback cover on an older Ford Escort bouncing going over bumps. This will interesting because neither me or the tech can find it and it's been 4 years now. It's still aggravates me having to hear it. Cheap cure for these problems...Turn up the stereo !

    It would be nice if there were an interface to a laptop computer so that you could graph all channels simultaneously.

      Problem is the noises are all at different frequencies, amplitudes*, etc. Its way easier to listen than to see when doing something like this. Trust me. Especially if you are driving when trying to diagnose. edit*

    Check the L/R front hub, remove tire from the lift first. Could very well be front bearing not (true)or out of round from wear R/R. Just a matter of time before it goes out. Better yet install brand new hub bearing assembly to both L/R side. Ball joints is done by grabbing each rim/tire shaking it liberally, if too loose replace that as well. Btw,...wheel hub Bearings wear 1st...before the Ball Joint

      I will let you know what I find once I get a chance to look at this car again in the area where the noise was coming from.

      I hung an old iPhone and put it on video. The old thing I got was the sound of wind. Good idea though.

    So, what was the problem. Was it the ball-joint?

    Can you fix the microphone clamp??? It was working, clamped it to my axle... Turned and it must've messed up the connection to the clamp... Annnnd now it doesn't work lol 00 got about 30 seconds of use out of it, and didn't hear my noise.... Which i think is the CV, it's only when turning at higher speeds and it's cyclical, not clicking more like something rubbing, but it just started and haven't touched anything on the front suspension..

    hi are you still using the Steelman...? I'm thinking of buying one but wondered if the wireless connectivity suffered interference or not. Did you ever try the wired versions?

    • @declanosbourne62
      @declanosbourne62 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't the wired version because of driving with the wires attached to the vehicle and such

    Seems backward that you have to analyze for yourself which microphone is picking up the most noise rather than the device showing you automatically

      Too simple...It's more timing and type of noise .
