I took over a SF orphan last year that had no 2024 first rounder. Mostly a team of aging, productive vets that needed to be moved while they had value. After a series of about 20 trades I've put together Caleb, 4 2025 firsts, 4 2026 firsts and a bunch of picks in between along with a heavy concentration of 2-4th round rookie dart throws. So yeah - I've traded for a few firsts haha.
I developed a theory on how to craft a dynasty team after my first year in a league (2022). Seems like we would agree on a lot of things, specifically that the real goal is to build a team that makes playoffs 10 years straight rather than a team that peaks for 3 years. Nice content, some good points to consider on easily replaceable players.
You’re talking about the details we actually need. Thank you much 🙏🏻 Sometimes we already know the answer but we want to confirm it with someone we respect.
Bruh, this was a good video. As a guy who went to school for fashion design your analogy wasn't that weird or bad. I have notice that with the blow out wins across my leagues as well. What about Laporta. Was offered Engram, 2025 1st and 2nd. I liked the picks but not Engram. This is after a startup so we have no idea where the 1st will be projected. TE premium. Superflex Start 9.
In a rebuild and looking to acquire some firsts. Have an offer for my Waddle+Collins of Godwin,Cooper, Pollard, 25 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Am I crazy for not wanting to sell?
I like Waddle. His PPG was skewed by some bad luck last year, particularly playing through injury and leaving some games early. His per-route metrics last year were borderline elite and I think he is capable of WR1 production. Plus, massive upside in the event of a Hill injury.
I just took over a orphan team with no first or second next year but they are a middle of the road team that should make the playoffs next year. Should I be trading away my players on my team to get my first and second back or should I stick it out with my team and hope that my team is competitive and dont really care about the picks
It's always nice to have control of your picks in case things go south, but it's typically hard to get them back without paying a ton. If you think you can scrape together a competitive season without sacrificing future years, I'd probably just try to do that.
I think the issue looking at dynasty teams and looking at points scored in Match ups is half the teams are tanking on purpose ....so yes there would be alot of blowouts cause people are intensively losing as well which isn't calculated in tbe models...
If you take another look at the chart I referenced in the video, it has a section specifically for playoff matchups. Even those were not close on average.
@PurePotentialFF I don't watch it no , so that would be impossible ,but playoffs could be off due to players not playing because of real life playoff chances, sitting out , amall injury but sit out etc ....
I’m actually working on a video about this exact question. 👀 But with AD Mitchell, it’s an easy choice. His rookie ADP was around the 2.04, so I’m moving him for a future 1st easily.
The draft is coming for my 10-team HPPR SF League. I have the 10th overall and I'm expecting Brian Thomas Jr. and Ladd McConkey to be available. I was leaning McConkey because I think he is less likely to bust and I love the reports out of camp but should I be shooting for the upside of BTJ? Is McConkey's ceiling a replacement level player?
I don’t have any reason to think Ladd’s ceiling is lower than Thomas, and I do prefer him straight up though I have them in the same tier. I’d actually try to see what you could get to trade back or move the pick straight up.
I have trade on the table. I will give up steelers te and chargers wr Rice and I will get Wr Khalil Saints rb Miller and 2026 2nd pick. Should I take it or no

In non-TEP, it's probably the right move. Though I think holding him is reasonable if the 1st belongs to a really strong team OR you don't have another good TE option. Pitts is sort of a special case because he plays a position that's harder to replace (at least the high-end production) AND we have seen evidence in the NFL that he's capable of hitting a high ceiling.
@@PurePotentialFF The first will most likely be top 4, this guys team isn’t super good. I have njoku and kmet as my backups so, not great but njoku could be just as good this year. 10 teams non TEP and I already have 3 firsts next year.

Burrow Bijan JT Devonta Smith DK Davante Adams Kittle Kamara Singletary Jeudy/Meyers/Gabe Davis/Antonio Gibson/Tyler Boyd SuperflexQB2 - Deshaun Watson/Geno Appreciate any advice
I likely would have gone WR over JT, but you've still got a solid team there. I think your SF spot is fine with Watson and Geno--you handled QB perfectly. I prefer not to hold too much roster value in elite RBs, so my preference would be using Bijan or JT in a deal for a top-tier WR. But that's really just a personal preference. My main advice would be to remember that it's a long offseason and to not force a trade unnecessarily.
@PurePotentialFF Appreciate the response. I didn't know how to feel about London, who's proven nothing, or Aiyuk with his future on the Niners uncertain at the moment. Was hoping Olave would fall to 26 where I got JT, but it didn't happen. Who should I target when trading JT? What should I package? And, any advice on how to upgrade my flex3 position? I was hoping Dionte Johnson or Christian Watson fell to me in the 10th but I had to settle for Jeudy, and while I have Watson and think Jeudy could be a top 25 receiver, I'm not sure how confident I am in it. I'd like to go for Dionte or C. Watson without trading Jeudy or Meyers(since he's in line for a lot of work if something happens to Adams who I own)

This is spot on. I looked at my season and I lost only 2 contests by less than 5 pts. All others were 14-40 pt differences. Now the hard part uncovering that hidden gem.
The countering analogy to this is, show up to a business meeting in a suit with no socks and you may be looked at as a clown and lose the deal. The advice about chasing starts matters more in shallower leagues. But in leagues with 14 or more teams or leagues where you have to start 11 or more players each week the WAR of players like Addison and Cooper is certainly relevant. Not having enough of them will burn you in the end.
Regardless of how large the league is, stars have a disproportionate impact and you are still better off trading replacement-level players away for 1sts when you have the opportunity.
This is an insane trade. I’d take the Jefferson side in 1QB. Those mid to late 1sts are a lot less valuable in that format. Plus, in start 7, there’s a HUGE benefit to having those superstars.
Thanks! I've done a couple this year (actually planning to break down the most recent one in a video). Might do one more before the season, but I'm not sure yet.
I just drafted Jonathon Brooks at the 1.08…. But I’ve been offered a decent 2025 1st next year for him. Is he one of the potential star players you’re speaking about, or should I take the future first? Thanks!
Definitely need to get you more subs. Great insights. Most teams don't have a Star player in their flex. That's my goal, a stud lineup with a stud in my flex..
Finally did my first dynasty start-up (SF + TE premium) and landed hurts MHjr london goff kyren and andrews through the first 6, I feel like I don't have crazy star power but am alright with those players. Any thoughts on players to try and buy low on I'm not crazy stacked in any one position but snagged some solid later rookies like Wright, burton, franklin, and all.
Welcome to the world of dynasty! If you want to fill out a competitive roster on a budget, I'd look into Diontae Johnson, Christian Kirk, DeAndre Hopkins, Geno Smith, and Derrick Henry. It's going to depend on the league, of course, but I like the typical market price on those guys.
Your videos rock! Last year was our startup. I fumbled that draft, sending me into a 2 year rebuild. I’m a very young roster with 3 25 1sts and 3 25 2nds but I’m still trying to accumulate picks. My TE room is McBride and Pitts, which makes me think I should move off one of them for a 1st+, but it also feels damn good to have 2 top 5 TEs. Should I try moving off one now, wait until it’s closer to season, or HODL.
I'd be interested in trading one of them if I'm getting that good return, which could be now or later depending on your league. But I wouldn't move one just to move one.
Great video. I'm glad you used Addison as an example. I sold Addison for a 25 1st + Malik Washington and I replaced Addison's spot with Wicks/Dotson from my bench. I also have an offer on the table where I sell Trevor Lawrence for Will Levis + 25 1st + 26 1st. Would this trade be an example of what you're discussing in the video? I'm not contending this year.
Very nice content. Thanks, man. So few questions: would trade away D Henry for a 2nd rounder nxt yr ( I don't think any gm would give up a 1st round pick for an older RB). Would you hold on to S Moore since R Rice is out for few games? Makes sense to keep T Burks?
Skyy and Burks are definitely droppable. Just depends on who's on the waiver wire.. I'd prefer a fringy RB like Rasheen Ali over both of them though. As for Henry, I don't think he's a must-sell for a future 2nd. If you have an overabundance of older players and the 2nd belongs to a more fragile roster, I'd be fine with it.
I guess my question is how much should you pay for upside? Garrett Wilson, Drake London, JSN, Dalton Kincaid, etc… they’re currently replaceable but I think everyone can see the upside. Do you like to invest in players like this or are they sells since their production is replaceable?
I'm actually working on a video covering this exact topic! Determining which young players to invest in is very tricky and certainly not a perfect science. That being said, I'm a big fan of Wilson and London and not a big fan of JSN. I'm fine with Kincaid but prefer other TEs at his price.
Won the championship last year and probably have a chance again this year but have been offered a 2025 1st for Jacobs (probably late). Would you consider him replaceable? RBs are tough to acquire.
Yeah, I’d take the 1st. I don’t think Jacobs is likely to distance himself from guys like Pacheco or Walker, or even cheaper backs like Montgomery or Najee.
It definitely looks lopsided, but that manager is planning to rebuild. If they play their cards right, they're getting the 1.01 and 2.01. Those picks will certainly be worth more than the players are by next offseason.
Hey man. Love the channel. I was wondering if I could get a little help. Just started a dynasty league, and we just finished the start-up draft about a week ago. I was able to acquire a '25 1st & 3rd, and a '26 1st during the draft, while still accumulating what I see as solid talent. But I don't know exactly what I need to be doing before the season starts. I'm fairly weak at RB. I invested heavily in QB and WR early in the start-up draft. Didn't know if I should be looking at playing for the future? Or be putting some trades together for an elite RB, or something to boost my squad? Thanks man.
Hey! It sounds like you’ve put together a pretty high-value roster with all those extra picks, so I’d definitely be aiming to compete right away. You could see about packaging one of those extra 1sts with a player for a star RB like Bijan or Hall. Or just piece it together by targeting guys like Henry or Mixon in that mid-2nd value range. Shop around and try to strengthen your starting lineup at the best possible price.
@@PurePotentialFF Thanks man. It's Superflex PPR. 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, 2 Flex & a SuperFlex. C.J Stroud and Brock Purdy are my QB's so I'm locked in at QB. And my WR's are Nabers, Tee Higgins, Hollywood, JSN, Calvin Ridley, Josh Downs, & Darnell Mooney. My RB's are weaker. Javonte, Brian Robinson Jr,, Mostert, Charbonnet, Antonio Gibson, Mattison, and Isiah Davis from the Jets. So potentially increase the RB room by trading a first? Or do you think I could potentially tread water with this group for the first 4-5 weeks based on the rest of the roster? Thanks! Sorry about the length of this!
Would you trade Diggs and a 2025 first for a player like Aiyuk/Pittman? I have MHJ and Ceedee but behind them are DJ, Meyers, And Brian Thomas so wanted to get another stud. Two QB league (I have TLaw and Herbert)
I would not. I think we overrate our ability to predict who in that tier of WR is going to score the most points. It’s pretty flat after the top 8-9 guys so I’m looking to tier down more often than tier up. We saw this last year where Higgins/Devonta were near the top of that group, had poor seasons, and dropped down. It’s a vicious cycle.
Should I flip Pittman? I have AR as one of my QBs, but our league started 2 QBs. Tons of people in my league want him but I'm unsure if he is replaceable
@@PurePotentialFF was able to flip pittman and a 2025 second for zay flowers Christan Watson and Roman wilson. Since I'm in a rebuild I felt like a got a good haul back
The only WRs worth 3 1sts, in my opinion, are Jefferson, Chase, and maybe Lamb. But I consider them luxury assets. If you have a really strong team and can withstand consolidating all that value around a non-QB, go for it.
That’s definitely one of the trickier things to predict. Personally, I need to see strong evidence during the rookie season that a player is capable of difference-making production. If I don’t, I’m much more comfortable with the risk/reward of a future 1st.
One thing I really like to look at is per route efficiency. Metrics like yards per route run and targets per route run have proven to be fairly predictive of future success.
Yeah, I figured someone would point that out eventually. In hindsight, I should have given a more precise PPG cutoff for "replacement-level." Typically, there is little advantage in having a low-end RB1 vs an RB2.
No, I’d need more than a future 1 to trade him. His per route numbers and offensive situation suggest he’s capable of WR1 production, plus he has a lot of upside if Hill gets injured/eventually retires.
10 man superflex league should I trade away my 25 1st and 2nd, 26 1st, Kmet, Kirk and Warren for Jjetta ? I have Lamb, Puka, odunze, Ladd, Watson and shaheed.
If you can withstand moving those pieces, I think I'd do it. Always great to acquire studs, especially in a 10-teamer. But first see if you can use Ladd or Watson instead of the 25 1st.
Have you recently traded for a future 1st? Drop the trade details in the comments. ⬇
Traded Ridley and 1.10 for Kirk and 25 projected early 1st (he’s been first pick last two years and doesn’t have his 1.01 this year)

I subscribed after he made that socks analogy.
I made it just for you
DAWG
Took the first league I chose thru and the first 7 games with the differences: 5pts, 5pts, 48pts, 6pts, 100pts, 3pts, 3pts 😂
I just drafted Jonathon Brooks at the 1.08…. But I’ve been offered a decent 2025 1st next year for him. Is he one of the potential star players you’re speaking about, or should I take the future first? Thanks!
No he’s worth more in my eyes
Up to you to determine the quality of the pick, but yes I would trade Brooks away for a 2025 1st that looks likely to be top half.
Don't trade him.
Thanks my guys. I will probably hold, since the first is from a playoff team from last year. Maybe if it was a 1st and 2nd I should accept
Traded the 2.02 (turned into Xavier legette) and 2026 4th for a 2026 first.
Excellent work
hey brotha would you throw two 3rds at diggs? just feel like diggs is a buy low rn
@@rileyandus8177 absolutely but I doubt that gets accepted
Definitely need to get you more subs. Great insights. Most teams don't have a Star player in their flex. That's my goal, a stud lineup with a stud in my flex..
great job on this - very insightful reminder - i'm guilty of this sometimes - emotion/psychological traps
I enjoy the auditory information shared here and will always look for this type of content over oververbose written content.
fear ! holds us back .
I think that's a very solid return for Lawrence, especially if you aren't contending
Keep grinding, one of the best fantasy football channels. I’m just glad your still small so I can get the good stuff without my friends🤫
Thanks man, hopefully not small for long!
Barkley/ Mike/ And Henry for one 1st round pick? 😂 what kinda rookies are you fleecing?
It definitely looks lopsided, but that manager is planning to rebuild. If they play their cards right, they're getting the 1.01 and 2.01. Those picks will certainly be worth more than the players are by next offseason.
You mention Amari Cooper, do you prefer a) Cooper b) Legette c) Jeudy, 25 3rd?
I prefer Cooper out of that group, but it's close with Legette. Not really interested in Jeudy.
Love these videos. You provide some really thoughtful insight I appreciate it
Love to hear it, thanks!
@@PurePotentialFF what would you suggest for a tier down? Or think it would be best to hold?
Should I flip Pittman? I have AR as one of my QBs, but our league started 2 QBs. Tons of people in my league want him but I'm unsure if he is replaceable
He's right on that borderline of that 1st-round price tag. I would probably hold out for a bit more value.
@@PurePotentialFF was able to flip pittman and a 2025 second for zay flowers Christan Watson and Roman wilson. Since I'm in a rebuild I felt like a got a good haul back
Who do you view as difference makings players versus "socks"?
It's probably more of a spectrum (flaw in my analogy), but in general I prioritize WRs and RBs that I think have a legit shot at 18+ PPG
At QB, that line is more like 20 PPG (in 4-pt passing TD)
What’s your opinion on trading future picks for elite WRs? Is it foolish to trade 3 of your own future picks to get a jamaar/Amonra type?
The only WRs worth 3 1sts, in my opinion, are Jefferson, Chase, and maybe Lamb. But I consider them luxury assets. If you have a really strong team and can withstand consolidating all that value around a non-QB, go for it.
@@PurePotentialFF thanks! it’s a 1 QB league but i have hurts, bijan, breece, waddle, Rome and a few WR3s so i feel like it’s time get a stud WR
@@kevinmcgee-ud4ot I'd be even more willing to make that trade in a 1QB format.
But how do you know if year 2-3 players are replaceable?
That’s definitely one of the trickier things to predict. Personally, I need to see strong evidence during the rookie season that a player is capable of difference-making production. If I don’t, I’m much more comfortable with the risk/reward of a future 1st.
One thing I really like to look at is per route efficiency. Metrics like yards per route run and targets per route run have proven to be fairly predictive of future success.
No shot at being top 12? James cook was rb11 last year
Yeah, I figured someone would point that out eventually. In hindsight, I should have given a more precise PPG cutoff for "replacement-level." Typically, there is little advantage in having a low-end RB1 vs an RB2.
@@PurePotentialFF Overall though, I agree with the message!
Great content
Thanks!
Just giving my own experience. A LARGE percentage of my league matches were within 4pts…
This analysis is very league specific
I find that incredibly interesting. What are the specifications of the league in terms of starting slots and scoring?
Using a case study and generalizing a conclusion like that seems a bit preemptive, no?

@@austinyoung8946 just wanted to make sure given the amazing situation he’s in
Is waddle a replaceable player?
No, I’d need more than a future 1 to trade him. His per route numbers and offensive situation suggest he’s capable of WR1 production, plus he has a lot of upside if Hill gets injured/eventually retires.
I have a trade offer for a 25 and 26 1st and know that’s a ton of value but don’t want to get rid of a stud
@@ericcalder5691 I would be inclined to trade him away for two 1sts
Keep him. U can get picks for him after the season
🥳
Thanks for watching, Dave!
@@PurePotentialFF great stuff man
10 man superflex league should I trade away my 25 1st and 2nd, 26 1st, Kmet, Kirk and Warren for Jjetta ? I have Lamb, Puka, odunze, Ladd, Watson and shaheed.
If you can withstand moving those pieces, I think I'd do it. Always great to acquire studs, especially in a 10-teamer.
But first see if you can use Ladd or Watson instead of the 25 1st.
