Well that's disappointing... I was looking forward to watching this movie in French in January (after 14 months of practice) but I can't understand a single phrase. Is this because the critique speaks very formally? Will the rest of the movie open up to beginners in the language?
Languages take much longer than a few months, and even longer without subtitles in the target language. Depends on how long you spend learning the language but it takes most people 2-3 years to comfortably watch a film in their target language. If you are struggling, try a show for younger kids like Peppa Pig.
@Spikydust Formal speech should be easier to understand, one because it is enunciated clearer, second because formal french is closer to english than casual french.
Learn French through immersion. Netflix, TH-cam, story dialogues, courses, and more! t.ly/tg3Ph

Love it! Thanks

@DELottProductions
Whoops my message should have read "14" months instead of "we' months..
But I hear you on the 2-3 years
Don’t worry, the movie is easy to understand. The critic speaks EXTREMELY formally 😊
