The station building at Rookwood was an exact replica of the City Station. It was demolished brick by brick and transported to Ainslie in Canberra, where it was rebuilt as All Saints Anglican Church

I was about to say, ironically the station is far from abandoned

As kids our train would stop at Rookwood station on the main line before Lidcombe. We would joke the ghosts were getting on and off.

This line brought an all new meaning to "Stations of the Cross".

    If you look up:
    All Saints Anglican Church,
    Ainslie
    Canberra
You'll see the structure of the church, is what was the sandstone form over the platform there, you're talking about at Rookwood.
It is that very structure, which was moved to Canberra.

IIRC i believe there were 4 stations in total going around in a loop, a few years ago if you looked at Google Maps you could vaguely see the alignment of the railway lines but i havent checked it out for quite a while, it may still be visible or it may not be. If you do want to see the original lines there the best option is Six Maps, on one view you can have the regular new Satellite image, and for the base image you can set 1943 aerial images then use the slider to switch between modern and old view and you'll clearly see the layout of the tracks.

Go to Canberra and visit All Saints Church at Ainsley which is one of the stations.

Yes, it's the one that used to sit on this platform! The church of England purchased it for £100 and had it rebuilt in Canberra.

When I was a child I used to sit on the platform and wait for train. If you want to see what it looked like visit the Church it was made into that is now in Canberra and which I still is it when possible

I'd love it if they built a replica of the station building

Roselle Mental Hospital used to have bullet holes in it, but it's patrolled by a security guard lol. Some of the buildings have the windows completely boarded up, but the lights were on and people were inside when we climbed over to sneak a peak. Weird shit lol

Very interesting video. Just out of curiosity, what phone did you film this with? It has reasonable image stabilisation.
