  • Following a comment made by Samoht to my original VLOG on testing the MRA Vario Screen, I've been out fiddling around with the set-up on my Triumph Tiger 1050. Here's a brief VLOG with my findings.......

Hi again BB - glad you're liking the vids, thanks for the encouragement! Yes, this MRA adjustment is a little counter intuitive but it seems to work for me, no flapping about, a better view over the screen and much reduced turbulence in my experience.....give it a go! All the best - TMF

Hi TMF, Good blogs and easy on the ear. My experience with Vario for other riders benefit. Riding for 50 years but we'll skip that. I changed from my 2017 1200GS with absolutely no airflow problems to a marginally lighter 2016 Tiger Sport. It was obvious even from the test ride I'd need a taller screen. I'm 5' 7''.
From what little I'd read I opted for the Vario. That was a mistake and I regret wasting a £100 on something that is my considered opinion little better than the short original. I either have a vortex of air swirling around my head or as this update describes cold air on my upper torso and head on the recommended setting. If any other Tiger owners can actively recommend a taller screen to combat aforesaid problem I'd like to hear about it. Very tiresome and almost enough to make me change my bike yet again.

Thanks Billy - all I can say is it seems the best solution for me so far......

Re previous, I posted in the wrong area as I've bought the screen for the GS. However, my other bike is a Tiger 800 XCx, so I might get one for that!

thanks TMF, good news that I can see over it. I am 6ft so I am now worried whether it will work for me in the parallel configuration or whether I would have to extend it as you first had it. If you still have the screen and could measure if for me please, I would be most appreciative. The website says 485mm but I am not sure if that is with the wing up or down. Well made, nicely narrated videos by the way - cheers Tony

thanks for posting again as I am seriously thinking of buying this screen. Can I check how tall you are please and how tall is the screen in this configuration ? Just want to check I can see over it
    thanks
    Tony

Did you use the dog bone extensions or did you just attach the screen directly to the mounting hardware that is on the motorcycle screen>

I've just bought the 2017 model in the matte black. love the bike, bags of torque from really low down all through the rev range. Handles like a dream and is 8 out of 10 comfortable if that makes sense. But, there's always a but ... the wind noise from the screen is terrible, I have a GT-Air helmet and it's normally very quiet. I can't find anyone who offers a solution for this model TS. The perils of buying a new model. :(

Yes it is a lovely bike, possibly my second favourite Triumph I've ridden, after the Street Triple - loved my old one and the Sport I recently borrowed. Have you tried just adding a spoiler to the OEM screen??

TheMissendenFlyer Not as yet, I've had it about 3 weeks now and it is proving difficult to get aftermarket accessories such as the givi top box rack system as they haven't developed it yet. I don't particularly like the Triumph one so I'm waiting for givi. Seems to be the same story with a MRA screen. I guess good things will come to those who wait, ha !
      Thanks for the reply.

I'm 5'8" - so not very tall. No idea how high the screen is like this but it's not very high and I can easily see over it, I think you'd have to be sub 4" to have a problem (then you wouldn't be riding this bike!!!) - cheers, TMF

Hi TMF, hope you're well. Am just fitting the MRA screen and your subscribers may be interested to know that you can get it in three sizes; I've got the one recommended for people over 6 ft and the height of it with the spoiler is 550mm. I'll let you know how I get on with it. Cheers, Andy

Nice post. I'm running a MadStad on my 1050 Tiger right now, which is like riding behind a barn door. Works great, but ruins the looks of the Tiger. This is giving me pause....

Hi TheMissendenFlyer. Do you still own the windscreen? I want to mount it the same way you have but i cant really see how the windscreen is mounted. Is it possible you sent me a photo from the side or something? Thanks

Did you use the arms or did you connect the MRA screen directly to the mounts. I have the MRA and have the arms on the screen. Just got back from a 2500 mile trip and had it up and the MRA Screen was actually almost straight up and it made things quiet. The problem is I noticed that you get a strange buffeting on the top of the helmet that can leave your head swimming after a long day of riding. I was wondering if I connected it directly to the mounts and pulled off the arms if that was what you were talking about? Thanks in advance.

TheMissendenFlyer ...think he means did you clamp it on (ie use the arms), or screw it onto your screen.
